Boy, this one really sucked. Both the H and the h were too stupid to live (what burglar uses engraved tools?). The fact that he'd bring her into his home to watch his child without doing any check on her at all (except vaginally) is ridiculous. And then a cliffy? I can guarantee that I was not invested enough to download the next one.

I'm not sure how this book has so many good reviews. I'm sad to say I'm not one of them, and I won't be reading the 2nd book. This one had too many big holes that just made it unrealistic.

Scarlett was just laying low.
This is the first book in the Ulianov Bratva duet and it leaves us with a heart stopping cliffhanger ending. Scarlett and Anton are both hiding from mistakes in their past but of course things can never stay hidden forever.

This is my first book by Lisa Lovell and let me say it won’t be my last. This book drops so much action, drama, and suspense. I absolutely love Scarlett. She is just the right mix of strong and feisty with the common sense of when to be scared. Anton is this fierce predator who is also fiercely protective. There are secrets that are hidden and just waiting to be exposed. Who is coming for whom? Both Scarlett and Anton have dangers that are after them. The story is extremely well written and developed. I love the intensity of the story as it felt throughout the story. This intensity is deeply felt as you journey alongside of the stunning characters. Then we get to the end of this book and we are left with a shockingly major cliffhanger. I am absolutely excited to see what happens next. Absolutely must read!

I'm giving this one a thumbs down. I am so disappointed that it's a cliffhanger. I hate those. The story wasn't engaging enough to eek out two books. This writer was just stringing us along. I do not recommend.

Anton Ulianov told his boss Sergei Volkov that he would not help with human trafficking or kill children. His wife Katya was killed by Volkov’s men. He ends up taking his three year old son Nickolai and leaves town. That was two years ago.
Scarlett Jones is at a party where they are unveiling The Rose Star, a 32 carat pink diamond. Scarlett is there to steal it. As she is stealing the diamond, she hears voices approaching the room so she hides behind a curtain. She witnesses, Victor Cartwright, owner of the diamond, murder his mistress Maya Tait. While escaping with the diamond, Scarlett realizes she left her tools by the empty case when she hid. She needs to leave town immediately since the tools can be traced back to her.
2 weeks later, Scarlett ends up in Texas. She gets a drink at the local bar from Lena, the bartender. She just wants to escape her motel room for a little bit. A gang of bikers approaches her wanting to take her out of the bar to have a good time with her. She is saved by a man with a Russian accent. She and her rescuer drink shots of Stoli vodka and they end up in Scarlett’s motel room for the night.
Lena comes by the motel to bring a want ad to Scarlett. The job is for a live in nanny for a five year old and it pays $3,000 per week.
What happens when Scarlett’s rescuer and new boss is Anton Ulianov? Can Scarlett stay hidden from Cartwright and his men? Can Anton stay hidden from Volkov and his men? Can they save each other?
A great start for the series. I can’t wait to read more.

This is the first part of a duet. It ends in a cliffhanger, but the great news is the second part is available now (and through KU)!
This is a dark romance story and contain multiple scenes and references to subject matter that may be offensive or a trigger for sensitive readers. This includes adult language throughout; derogatory terms; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, spanking for pleasure, etc.; violence stereotypical of the genre such as murder, torture, kidnapping, theft, assault, fighting, coercion, harassment, etc.
Based upon the promise built throughout part one, I am giving this 5 stars. I love the chemistry between Anton and Scarlett. A little more information about his background would be helpful, but I just love Nikolai! So cute! Depending on what happens in the second story, this review may be edited.

I mostly liked this one. One thing I really appreciated is that it wasn’t too long. Of course, it ends on a cliffhanger 😩. Alas, this duet is completed so I’m going to jump into the next book.
So this may not win a Pulitzer but it wasn’t a bad read. It wasn’t perfect but it kept me entertained. There were some plot holes. Why were her tools engraved? That seems dumb. She’s some super thief and is stealing some crazy diamond in the beginning. She inadvertently witnesses a murder and leaves her engraved tools behind accidentally in haste.
Why did he not do any checking up on her. She could have been a spy or assassin for all he knew. That was weird. I know he was all obsessed with her but he should have been checking things after essentially kidnapping her. I didn’t love him as an H. He blew hot and cold too much for me. I get that he was trying to not fall for her but his whole routine of seduction and rejection was tiresome.
Fast burn. Decently spicy. No virgins. No sex with others. No OW/OM drama. No separation. Ends on a major cliffhanger but second book is out already. Safe read.

Many things lacked substance and reality. The conversations were offbeat, otherworldly and disconnected to the subjects. Questions were asked but never answered. How did Anton's wife die? Is he running from the Bratva just because he refused to become involved in trafficking? Flimsy reason for so much trouble coming down on Anton.
Scarlett is weaker than water where sex is with Anton is concerned but is suppose to be hardcore. What kind of skilled thief leaves tools of her trade at scene of the crime? Why doesn't Anton notice the stolen grey car on his property? Why does security allow unfamiliar car on the property anyway?I
Anton and Luka took a trip to where? How far did they go just to ask questions?

Lisa it is my first time reading your book and honestly you didn't disappoint the only issue is that I love to finish a whole story in one book, but I am not a huge fan of cliffhangers ending books like

The story takes off from there.

I was really surprised by the book. I hadn't known about the author until this book, and it was really good. For a moment, I thought it would be a typical mafia book with the same old plot, but honestly, I liked it. At this point, I've already finished the next book and started it because this one definitely hooked me.
Speaking of the characters, I really liked Anton, he's the kind of alpha male I like to read about, he's definitely very sexy and radiates danger, but he's a sweetheart of a dad. Scarlett is also super sweet, she's not a submissive and fragile woman, she has a lot of willpower and a very defined personality. I also liked the other characters, especially Ivan, and I'm going to check if he has his own book.

This book to,d in dual POV is about Anton who is trying to build a better life for his son while in the run from the Bratva. Anton defied the head of the Bratva so they killed his wife brutally. While at the latest town Anton meets Scarlet.
Scarlet is also on the run from a powerful man who she stole a diamond from and witnessed him unaliving someone. Antonio saves her from an MC at a local bar and they have a one night stand. Neither of them will admit that their attraction to each other is something more.
I only saw a couple of mistakes but nothing that will detract from the story. It ends in a cliffhanger so on to book #2.

This is my first read by Ms. Lovell, but it won't be my last. Scarlett and Anton are both in danger and keeping things from those around them. They both have people after them, although for different reasons, and I found that dynamic interesting. The more common trope is to have the female in danger and the hero stepping in to rescue her. And while he does keep her safe, he also brings his own danger. The suspenseful story line alone kept me interested. When that's paired with steamy chemistry, two protective and strong characters, and a love that won't be denied, I'm hooked.

I loved this book so much! It had everything I loved from a mafia romance book. There is action, drama, strangers to lovers, steamy, strong female lead and alpha male lead. They are so well perfect for each other. Their chemistry is sooo delicious. I cant wait to see their pasts come up to them and how they will trust each other and heal together.

Interesting twist and turns.
Scarlett and Anton are not being truthful with each other, so things have taken a bad turn. Each one has made enemies and without telling each other it will leave things complicated. Little Niko is such a sweet child and they are both protecting him with their lives.

AWESOME Story 😁
I originally took a sample of this to try, but I got totally sucked into the story and bought the book 😃. Lots of drama, tons of action, nasty bad people, intense situations and great characters 😉. Thanks Lisa, I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more 🤓.

Super quick easy read. Typical mafia romance book with action and smut and drama. Big on the pregnancy trope but he doesn’t even know she’s pregnant and now they r both kidnapped so that’s not super great. Def ended on a cliffhanger but she obviously didn’t die cuz there is a whole second book. It was mid but a fine read.

Different but Good
Both characters are criminals, one a Bratva Assasian and the other a Jewel Theif. However, they both are wanting the quiet life away from their past. The inimate scense were written well and did not overload the book some were even hot! The female is above 21 which is one of the best things about this book for me!

Absolutely nothing happens for 90% of the book, nothing.
The smut isn't even good, it's hate fucking and nothing else.
I don't understand the MMCs reasoning most of the time. Let's just take this random women as nanny because she was a good fuck. Let's have shit security even tho someone is after me. Let's fuck the nanny without condom because it's the women's duty to care for protection.

4 & 1\2 captivating stars
I hvn’t read Ms Lovell in a while. This book made me instantly regret that. From the go the story is well thought out & executed. The villains are good, the carnage could be a little more dark but, it’s doing fine. Secondary characters are perfectly balanced. There’s 2 I hope I see get 2gthr.

Great start to the story! Scarlet is a thief and on the run. While running, she gets entangled with a mystery man and his son. Little did they both know they both come from bad backgrounds! Ends on a cliffhanger!

Anton and Scarlett
This gave me that deja vu feel as if I have read it before. I liked it though, there was good dialogue with the characters and it was passionate. Hopefully Anton saves Scarlett and his son from the past that is chasing him.
