September 7, 2016I couldn't get into the story so I wasn't able to completely finish it. I did skim. Unfortunately, I didn't really connect with Elise or Lucien either. They had too much sex, and although it was hot, it was just too uncomfortable at times. It felt like all they had for each other was lust. I felt like there wasn't any 'real' chemistry between the two, especially compared to Francesca and Ian.

Overall
I like Beth Kery books. They are very light, steamy and have touch of BDSM. I liked how Elise and Lucien have a history and it gave the read an extra layer of chemistry. Elise is a very head strong girl. She’s grown up rich, is pretty and isn’t immune to men giving her attention, yet she never flaunts herself. I liked her story, poor rich girl trying to make it on her own.
Lucian is the typical rich Hero with a chip on his shoulder. Lucian has a past and he’s working on something. Elise is intrigued with Lucian’s past and has had a crush on Lucian since childhood. Lucian finds Elise very sexy and although he doesn’t want to forge a relationship with her, he’s more than willing to work out something that will benefit the both of them.
The story is light, in the sense it’s a steamy book, meaning the man focus is the steam. There is some light bondage and spanking, but nothing ever goes deeper or darker. Lucian is very closed off, so this adds some tension between the two. I did like getting some back story on Lucian and you slowly uncover his past.
When I’m with You is was an easy read and enjoyable.

No me ha gustado tanto como la primera novela. Elise y Lucien se me hicieron buena pareja, pero había cosas que me sacaban un poco de mis casillas, como por ejemplo el empeño de Lucien al principio en mantener a Elise alejada de todo lo que respecta a él, que nadie supiera que ellos dos se conocían.
La historia de los origenes de Lucien se me hizo fuerte, de verdad, y saber como eso esta relacionado con el cierrado y frío Ian Noble me dejo pensando en qué pasará en la siguiente novela con Ian y Francesca, aunque algo ya se intuye al final de esta novela.
Hay sexo, bastante sexo. Lucien es gran aficionado al BDSM y Elise le causa excitación que la dominen, hasta ahí todo bien. Y con él tipo de sexo BDSM que ellos practican, ligero, mas adaptado a lo que haría cualquier mortal que quiere experimentar, me ha gustado.
Realmente no se porque no logre conectar con Elise ni con Lucien, pero lo cierto es que ellos como pareja se me quedaron cortos.
Supongo que la tercera novela me gustara mas.

Eu bem digo que os cozinheiros estão na moda… mas ninguém se acredita em mim!
Li este livro já há algum tempo, mas como quero torcer o pescoço das tradutoras e se escrevesse a review antes, isto ia ser um exercício de correcção de tradução em vez de crítica, achei melhor esperar um tempo e praticar o meu tiro ao alvo e ter umas sessões de yoga! Por isso passado quase um mês, consigo pensar em “Quando estou contigo” como uma história sobre redenção e confiança.
Lucien Lenault é um herdeiro autoexilado de uma família abastada. Decidido a triunfar sozinho, tornou-se um restauranteur famoso da elite gastronómica de Chicago. O primeiro olhar que lança à arrebatadora chef estagiária que contratou para o seu restaurante deixa-o chocado. Ela é Elise Martin, filha de um abastado estilista francês. Mas ela é também detentora de um segredo que poderá fazer explodir os seus planos cuidadosamente elaborados.
Começo por dizer que o twist final fez com que a minha reacção fosse a equivalente a uma adolescente histérica depois de dar o primeiro beijo… do tipo: OMG, I totally did not see that coming… or was I? Pois, pois. Lucien, um bad boy que tem imensos restaurantes e descobre numa noite que a dispensa foi assaltada quando o seu chef está a tentar seduzir a nova estagiária… Elise, que já conhecia Lucien e pelos vistos odeiam-se. Ele acha que ela é imprevisível e precisa de rédea curta, Elise só quer ser uma chef conhecida e provar a Lucien que é boa naquilo que faz… cozinhar!
Famosa pelo seu flagrante exibicionismo e por insultar a respeitável fachada dos seus antecedentes aristocráticos, a veia selvagem da pequena coquine deixaria quase toda a gente chocada. Mas não Lucien. Para ele é uma tentação. Ela é uma catástrofe iminente, um inferno onde muitos amantes já arderam. Mas Lucien não é um homem qualquer e não se vai deixar manipular. Para controlar a desafiadora beleza de Elise — a fim de a ver submeter-se — ele terá de voluntariamente caminhar para as chamas…
Não sei o que se passa com as autoras para todas descreverem os homens como: “ele quer dominá-la” ou “ele vai quebrá-la.”, como se fossemos bichos que precisássemos de ser controladas. Mas pelos vistos as mulheres gostam disto… bem foi este a única coisa menos positiva: a atitude inicial do Lucien que está sempre a assumir que a Elise é péssima pessoa horrível que o vai trair ou espiar para fazer blackmail. Preferia muito mais que Lucien simplesmente usasse a sedução porque deseja-a, acho mais nobre do que seduzi-la porque não consegue resistir.
Lucien pode causar bastantes suspiros às leitoras femininas, não duvido. Ele é rico, poderoso, bonito e mesmo tendo segredos é uma personagem que muitas mulheres podem considerar atraente, contudo é Elise quem conquista o leitor. Porque é ela que muda de vida, é ela que foca-se no trabalho e na sua carreira apesar de Lucien dificultar-lhe a vida, é ela que quer entender o que se passo com o segredo de Lucien, embora ele não confie nela (mesmo depois de terem dormido juntos várias vezes) e é ela que o seduz (embora pareça o contrário). É Elise que faz a história avançar e que, apesar de permitir os avanços de Lucien no que toca ao bondage. É engraçado notar estas diferenças: Lucien pensa que a está a domar, que ela vai ser a sua submissa porque a castiga, quando na verdade é ela que se deixa castigar, e que o deixa aproximar por curiosidade ou por simplesmente gostar de bondage, ou ambos. A verdade é que, Lucien não consegue ver que Elise já não é a mesma que ele conheceu; cresceu, atinou e isso nota-se nas suas acções, na maneira como fala com paixão do seu trabalho e como, mesmo vivendo num sítio horrível.
Falava eu no primeiro parágrafo de confiança e redenção. Confiança já se adivinha que seja um dos pilares bases de uma relação. A confiança estabelecida entre Lucien para com Elise para lhe contar o segredo que o persegue, tal como Elise confia em Lucien para ele explorar o seu corpo e a sua carreira sabendo que ele não a traria, nem magoaria. De igual forma a sua relação acaba por ser uma forma de redenção no sentido de se redimirem. Elise redime-se ao esquecer o seu passado conflituoso e começar de novo, tal como Lucien, ao confiar na sua estagiária.
“Quando estou contigo” é um bom livro para descontrair, é um livro de erótica BDSM que pende mais para a submissão psicológica tão em moda, do que para a física. No fundo, acarreta uma mensagem de que a mulher pode mudar o homem através do coração e que, se houver confiança, os heróis têm tudo para acabarem juntos e felizes, depois de ultrapassarem os obstáculos que eles mesmos fabricaram.

Agora a tradução… parava de ler o livro página sim, página sim. Let me tell you something, eu não sou tradutora, mas tirei uma licenciatura em inglês e sei inglês para caraças, e também sei português. O facto de as tradutoras traduzirem cock como pila já me mete uns arrepios porque pila em inglês é dick; traduzir “pussy” para pito ou rata já estou como a outra, tanto se me faz – agora traduzirem frases simples como:
I will find him - Eu darei com ele;
I can’t get over how talented you are,” - Não cesso de me extasiar com o seu talento…
tipo, estão a brincar comigo, não estão? Isto é o novo livro da Charlotte Brontë ou um livro de erótica light? É que se assim for, eu mudo ali o nome para Brontë em vez de Berry! Especialmente depois de ler coisas como “Vou-te foder no rabo”… Mas são bipolares? Quando uma pessoa dizer a palavra “foder” a seguir não vai ser politicamente correcto e dizer rabo! (E se fossemos MESMO exigentes, embora isto possa suscitar dúvidas não sei até que ponto poderíamos aceitar isto como um diálogo realista em português, visto que não dizemos: vou-te foder o cu, mas sim “vou-te ao cu” – é tramado traduzir erótica, eu sei, mas mais uma vez para ser traduzir é preciso saber.)
Eu sei que às vezes as editoras fazem pressão para as traduções a nível de calão, mas então não traduzam livros eróticos! E aprendam pelo menos inglês: duas tradutoras e nenhuma consegue traduzir uma frase básica? É que estas duas frases nem sequer têm palavras complicadas ou estrutura frásica doutro mundo! Eu sei que isto passa ao lado de muitos leitores e nas reviews as minhas comadres, elas não mencionaram a tradução, mas quer dizer acho o mínimo eu estar a ler algo como é. Eu já tinha lido um livro da Beth Kerry em inglês, por isso eu sabia que ela não escrevia assim! É uma falta de respeito para com a autora, quase reescrever o livro dela com um estilo que não tem nada a ver. Worst translation ever: não respeitou a voz da autora, tinha erros/gralhas e ainda frases mal traduzidas.
Se mudarem as tradutoras, leio com muito gosto o terceiro livro dela, se forem as mesmas, dispenso.

Истината е, че останах доста разочарована от тази книга, но не заради нейният жанр. Всъщност съм голям фен на автори като Саманта Йънг и Кристина Лорън, но тези авторки успяват да съчетаят любовта и сексуалният живот между героите, докато Бети Кери не успя да ме впечатли.
Страшно ми допаднаха главните герои....докато не се озоваваха в леглото или на друго място. Просто аз самата не възприемам подобна връзка като тази на Елиз и Люсиен - жената да се подчинява на мъжа в леглото - и заради това не успях да харесам книгата.
Оказа се, че това е втора книга от поредица и първата книга разказва за други герои, така че може би ще прочета „Защото си моя“ (само, ако Йън не иска да командва в леглото).... Много се чудех колко звезди да дам на „Когато съм с теб“ и в крайна сметка реших да дам две звезди, защото все пак в книгата, малко или много, има интересни моменти, които си заслужават да бъдат прочетени.

Ok I put of reading this book as I had read the complete novel previous to this and absolutely fell in love with Ian and Francesca but loathed Lucien for some reason.
But I decided to give it a read as there was hope to read more about my favourite characters Ian and Francesca ! It took me a little bit to get into and at first I disliked Lucien but after a whole I really warmed to him and enjoyed the book! I think it's a real romantic book yes there is the sex but there's a great warm romantic feeling too! Also a great twist. Be warned if you read this book wanting more about Francesca and Ian there isn't much but it's enough :)

Αποφάσισα να διαβάσω το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο γιατί στην κυριολεξία λάτρεψα το "because you are mine". To "When I'm with you" είναι η συνέχειά του, αν και με διαφορετικούς πρωταγωνιστές. Φυσικά και συναντάμε τον Ίαν και την Φραντσέσκα, όμως εδώ οι ήρωες μας είναι ο Λούσιεν και η Ελίζ. Δύο παλιοί γνώριμοι, που αυτοεξόριστοι από την πατρίδα τους τη Γαλλία, ξανασυναντιούνται στο εστιατόριο του Ίαν, διεκδικώντας τις γκουρμέ συνταγές, αλλά και ο ένας τον άλλον. Φυσικά μυούμαστε στο BDSM,αλλά και στους "σκελετούς" του Λούσιεν. Κυρίως μαθαίνουμε τα κρυμμένα μυστικά που τον συνδέουν με τον Ίαν. Και αυτός είναι ο λόγος που δεν μου άρεσε τόσο το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο. Καταρχάς οι ήρωες δεν ήταν για εμένα τόσο ενδιαφέροντες και γοητευτικοί όσο ο Ίαν και η Φραντσέσκα. Αλλά και το τέλος της ιστορία το βρήκα σε κάποια σημεία αρκετά τραβηγμένο. Όμως αυτό που με χάλασε περισσότερο είναι ότι αν και το πρώτο βιβλίο έχει μεταφραστεί στα ελληνικά αυτό δεν ξέρουμε αν θα μεταφραστεί. Επιπλέον υπάρχουν άλλα 2 βιβλία εκ των οποίων το ένα είναι η συνέχεια της ιστορίας του Ίαν και της Φραντσέσκα, καθώς στο "When I'm with you" τους αφήνουμε σε περίεργη κατάσταση!!!!

While I liked the backstory there were elements of the relationship I personally didn't.
The connection at first was too frenzied. I mean what? He's got some mysterious secret She just wants a job. Shes desperate. So he basically blackmails her for sex. Then he's mad at her over her living conditions. Sigh.
He claims he's 'cared ' for her all his life yet he hasn't bothered to get to know her. Typical.
I also didn't like direction the BDSM went. It was too horsey. Even the Sub has some say. He didn't allow her to negotiate let alone tell she she could. He's a hypocrite.
I did cry a lot though only because I hated to see her treated like that. Even his 'tender' moments were almost cruel.
Example: the rooftop bedroom. Started very romantic but then he took advantage. And I don't want to talk about dinner.

Oh God, I dont think Ive laughed so much in my life. Spanking her boobs with his dick, thats some funny shite. And thats not all, they have phone sex where shes spanking her own ass with a paddle and "sawing her hand back and forth". I almost fell out of my seat laughing so hard. I bought it on my kindle and I returned for a refund. It was so aweful. There was alittle bit of a Cinderella theme going on. She comes from money, her dad cuts her off, she goes to school, works like a dog, living in a shithole hotel. THEN, he saves her from an impending rape, moves her into his penthouse. Jesus, I was acutally looking forward to reading this garbage. There was no witty dialogue, no building or character, no depth of relationship. Just lame sex and very formal speech. Anyway, on to the next book...

A história de Lucien e Elise. Depois de terminar Porque És Minha (a minha obra de estreia com Beth Kery)estou a ler este, vem um pouco no seguimento do anterior apesar de poder ser lido de forma independente. Mais um casal como protagonista com todas as suas lutas com o passado que se refletem no pressente quer nos seus comportamentos quer nos seus relacionamentos. Fiquei contente de ainda nos encontrar-mos com Francesca e Ian XD no final mais uma historia onde se ficaram a saber segredos, angustias e desejos. mas pareceu-me que a historia ficou em aberto!!

C'est un très bon livre. J'ai aimé l'héroïne: simple, ayant ses défauts et qualités, proche de nous. Le héros est un bon dominant. Les scènes de dom sont bien écrites: pas d'extravagance, on perçoit bien les émotions des héros qui n'en font pas des tonnes. C'est bien écrit en général.
Un petit effet mélo pour la fin afin de comprendre le héros.
Seule bémol: une fin, à mon avis, vraiment trop courte. Une page ou deux en plus n'aurait vraiment pas fait de tort.

I loved this book,
i wasn't expecting the change in characters from the first novel, it took a while to enjoy this book, there wasn't much character chemistry at the start but once it started to show that, i really enjoyed it. I think the ending was a little too rushed.
but overall i enjoyed it :)

Sad to say that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I hoped I would. The reason for that is that Ian and Lucien are too much alike. It felt like I was rereading the first book, just with different names and plot. It dragged in all honesty. The things I did enjoy was the ending plot bit and I really want to find out what happens with Ian now.

I really liked getting Lucien and Elise's story, their romance didn't quite have the intensity that Ian and Francesca's did (from book 1) but it was still enjoyable!

Le doy una estrella por no darle cero, por que es el peor libro que he leído este año. Para empezar no tiene ni nudo ni un desenlace que me parezca valido o interesante. Un setenta porciento del libro, por no decir mas, eran escenas de sexo y siempre tenían la misma dinámica. Y Lucien se escusa diciendo que lo hace para que ella madure o no se que chorrada pero básicamente todo el libro es el intentando cambiar como es Elise para que sea como a el le gusta. Ojo, no me parece mal su dinámica sexual, si es lo que a ellos le gusta, o que le ayude a crecer como persona pero me da la impresión de que no es lo que intenta hacer. Y al final del libro dice que jamas intentaría cambiarla. CUANDO LO LLEVA HACIÉNDOLO TODO EL LIBRO. Y luego diez lineas despues continua haciendolo. Pero vaya que si tu única intención es leer escenas de sexo que te lleguen a hacer sentir algo te lo recomiendo, en mi opinion es lo unico bueno que tiene, pero si buscas una lectura con mas sentido a parte de eso, hay mejores.

Good, in fact better than some erotica novels I read including "Fifty Shades" series, but not great.
We dealt with more feelings here, instead of just sex, although I still I don't like the male character's tendency to punish and dominate the female, but I could tell that it's the hype
Elise also had more brain and character comparing to the others, although her cooking passion was only visible at the beginning of the story but it still more. Also, the secret Lucien hide was quite thrilling, although not terribly shocking

I thought this book was still going to be focused on the same characters as the last book so I was mildly disappointed when it was not. However I am glad I read it because it turned out to be a good book.
The book looked in to the lives of one of the characters that we were introduced to during the first book. He was a background character and I am not sure how the knowledge of his life will tie into the last book. So here we go. Started the third one.

Lucien and Elise are 2 folks who have moved from France to Chicago. They both led privileged childhoods but don’t speak to their parents for different reasons. Lucien owns several properties including a restaurant, Fusion, where Elise comes to work as a chef.
When they meet again, their past attractions to one another comes to a head. What follows is rather explicit at times.

This had some hot love scenes, but otherwise I'm not sure that I agree with the premise that the main character, Elise, needed her love interest, Lucien to help her grow up and be responsible. She already was working on being a dependable adult when we met her at the beginning, and I don't buy that Elise needed correction.

Debo decir que si bien la historia es liviana, no es una historia atraparme por si sola, además hay detalles que no tienen sentido en el relato, como porque Lucien se empeñó tanto en que Elise no supiera el motivo por el que espiaba a Ian, es un poco ilógica la explicación de ese hecho y que trata de meter a la fuerza intriga y suspenso a la historia.

This book was ok. It was hard to connect with it and I had to force myself at times. It felt that it was trying to hit a word count. Multiple times, there were detailed description of places or an outfit. I’m talking a paragraph long of description.
