The Lapp family chronicles continue with Samuel. He has always been the resistant one and finally the black sheep. This is his journey and it was handled in an honest manner.
I really enjoy Sarah Price's books, they help with my fascination with the Amish. She is one of my go to authors when i am looking for an uplifting Christian book.
A nice end to the series. The first part of book was a little slow but the story has you on the edge of your seat afterwards. I couldn’t put my kindle down!
Short book, fast read. This story was interesting, and enjoyable. Poor Samuel went through so much to learn from his mistakes but in the end it payed off.
Valley of Hope… The fourth in “The Amish of Lancaster” series by Sarah Price brings to light the youngest of the Lapp family and his struggles with his choice of joining the church or seeking the adventures of the English world. Throughout this series, we’ve watched the kinner of Jonas & Katie Lapp each become their own individual person. Although being the youngest has the drawbacks of feeling as though you are smothered by everyone’s opinions & demands, Samuel is no different in this book than his siblings in his decision as to which path to follow. His struggles are deep rooted and we find it began in his early childhood. Beginning also in that early childhood is the devotion from one of the Lapp’s neighbors, Mary Ruth. Mary Ruth has been a valued friend who stood up for him when no one else would. When no one else understood him. But, when tragedy strikes, will Mary Ruth’s devotion to him pull him to fully commit to the Amish life or will his desire for fast cars and adventure lure him to the English world? An intriguing read that will not disappoint you.
Just finished "Valley Of Hope" by Sarah Price. It was a great book. Samuel Lapp was the youngest child and didn't like everyone telling him want to do. He is Amish and starts hanging out with the Mennonites and the English in his rumschpringe. He is In love with Mary Ruth but doesn't realize it until he goes on a weekend trip with his nonAmish friends and leaves to go back home and when he gets home he discovers there has been a bad accident and he is accused of a crime he hasn't committed. I give this book 5 stars.
I was kind of sad reading this last book in the series. I would have to leave the Lapps behind. This was another awesome book. I love seeing both the similarities and the differences between the Amish world and the English world. The Amish just have a different way of teaching each action comes with consequences. The youngest Lapp son learns this the hard way and the Amish world and English world collide.
To find out how and what happens you will just have to read the book. :-)
#4 in the Amish of Lancaster Series. The story of Samuel and Mary Ruth. Samuel does not want to settle down and runs with some wild boys. Then when he decides to stop his wild ways, something happens that could change in his life forever. Will Mary Ruth wait for him?
