I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, A. Vasquez for sharing your story!

3.5 stars for A. Vasquez's debut novel, Cadillac!

**SPOILER ALERT**

Wow...so first of all, let me just start off by saying I really liked the originality of this story. The author did a great job writing about untouched aspects of the New Adult genre. By untouched, I mean that the lead male is a middle-class, Mexican man. I really appreciated this, especially because many of the books I've picked up lately have an upper-class, white male as the main character. His name is Isaac & he owns a garage & he loves low rider cars, specifically, you guessed it...cadillacs. This was a nice change of pace! The heroine, Renee, is a down-to-earth, white girl, who goes to college & has a job. She is also from what seems like a middle-class family.

These characters have an almost-instant connection because, beyond the physical attraction they have for one another, they share the loss of a sibling as well. Their relationship progresses very quickly.

So, I really enjoyed the fact that this book is written in both Isaac & Renee's POV. It bounces back & forth, which is awesome, but on occasion I would get confused, because instead of picking up where the other left off, the next chapter might start off by going back a day or two without warning. Eventually, it would dawn on me what was happening, but it took me a minute to regroup.

I'm still trying to grasp this whole "cruise" thing that these guys did & what this "club" entails. I just kept picturing a gang that paraded their flashy low riders around town for people to look at. This may sound really naïve, but do these things really happen?! See what happens when you're from Small Town, America?! This was interesting to me.

Bum..bum..BUM! Then, you find out that Renee hasn't cashed in her V card. Which is totally fine & dandy...but then I got confused. I'm all about waiting to find the right person & all that jazz, but it's almost like she goes from 0 to 100 in no time at all. She was completely mortified when Isaac makes a comment about "popping cherries", but she has absolutely no problem in stripping down to her birthday suit & taking a shower with him, after all they've done is slept next to each other & kissed. It was a little bizarre.

The next thing that really bothered me was the "gay-friend" scene. I really wanted to smack Isaac for acting a fool & causing a scene, but Renee just totally floored me at this part. I really wanted to smack her. When, Isaac finally let her explain herself, then he told her he needed time apart to think about their situation, she turned into a really stupid girl. Personally, I would have just said, "Screw you, dude." Instead, she goes out & puts herself in an extremely dangerous situation in order to "win" back Isaac's affection, when in all honesty, he's the one who just needed to grovel and apologize for acting like a complete jackass! That whole scene just left a bitter taste in my mouth!

My heart totally broke for Isaac when they went to Renee's hometown & he figured out their "connection." What bad luck! I could actually feel his anguish. I felt even worse for him when he tried & tried to tell Renee about his past & she wasn't at all interested in hearing about it and/or letting him get it all off of his chest. That had to have been devastating!

Then, my heart broke for Renee when she figured out their "connection". How terrible! I could only feel sorry for her for so long though, because he tried to tell her & she didn't want to hear it. He tried more than once, too!

Insert Tony. What a creep! I was so glad when Isaac & Isaiah decided to distance themselves from him! Then, the final scene with him I totally didn't see coming. This really made me appreciate this story even more! I couldn't have predicted it, which is always a good thing. I was thrilled for Isaac to get his "revenge."

The epilogue was a little predictable, but I'm a sucker for a happy ending! I must say I'm hoping that there will be a book 2 with Isaiah & Cami's story! I'm intrigued!

Overall, I give this story 3.5 stars! I liked it! Does it need a little bit more work?! Sure, but what debut novel doesn't?! I'm more than pleased with what I read! Will definitely pick up another A. Vasquez story!

I hate to be a wet blanket but I just couldn't get into this book. I read up until 50% on my kindle and then skimmed to the end.

Young adult Renee wants a new life to help her cope with the murder of her twin sister. So she goes away to college...to the same city her sister was murdered in...and gets into her first serious relationship with a young Mexican-American man who is a lowrider enthusiast. Ironically Renee's sister was away from home, also dating a Mexican-American man, who also happened to be in a lowrider club and who was held as a "person of interest" in her murder. Cue allot of coincidences.

I found many of the plot points in Cadillac to be pretty improbable; but the biggest problem I had getting into the story was the dialogue. It just felt "off", unnatural, stilted. Despite peppering the dialogue with a handful of Spanish words, the characters didn't seem to have unique "voices". Half the time I felt Isaac sounded like a Hallmark card. The speech and behavior of Renee's parents made them come across like Pod people.

Both Renee and Isaac were likable. Nothing really offensive about either of them, both came across as a little immature; but glad they got their HEA.

I'm not generally a Grammar Nazi, but I did notice one editing issue in particular that was distracting was an issue with possessive apostrophes and their misuse.

I must admit this book took me by surprise - I actually enjoyed this book. I thought that Renee and Isaac where amazing together and that their love was very sweet. Renee made a good heroine with no unnecessary drama or being TSTL type heroine. She was actually perfect for Isaac. I would of liked Isaac to come across a bit more mature but overall he was adorable.

I just felt the drama was a wee bit overplayed. Isaac not speaking to Renee for a week after she has coffee with Jackson was a bit OTT. I would have liked a little more angst with Juan, the City Lows and the Low Lows. Juan's part in this book was over before you finished turning the page - a pity as he would have made a nice villain. And Tony(who was just creepy), I wanted there to be a little more drama and action between him and Isaac.

This story had the potential to be amazing but it was still a good read that I would recommend to anyone wanting a quick and light read

Very promising and captured my interest from the very first page. It's also very different from a biker club type book which definitely intrigued me since the bike was interchanged with a low rider club.

AMANDA'S 5 INTENSE STAR THOUGHTS

There are no words to explain how much I love this book! I was lucky enough to get to beta read this amazing story and I fell in love with Isaac and Renee from the very beginning. A. Vasquez's writing style is perfect! She makes you feel the characters emotions so you are connected to them. It is a very real life story that grabs you and will never let go. I know you will be a huge fan of hers once you read this book!

"I wasn't one to believe in love at first sight, but he might have just changed that for me."

Renee Davis has been busy rebuilding her life. She has finally decided to move forward after the death of her sister. Moving to a new town, going to school, and swearing off bad boys is just part of her plan. But sometimes no matter how hard you try to avoid it, fate has other plans.

"Opening the door, I almost fell to the ground. This was just what I needed, the light in my darkness, the heaven in my hell, the rain in my drought. My Renee."

While working at the ER one night, Renee meets Isaac Ramirez when his brother is brought in with a gunshot wound. She can tell he is the epitome of a bad boy just by looking at him, but there is some strange connection between them. Renee is convinced it is just because she knows what it feels like to lose someone.

"Baby, you had me at the car show. Shit, you probably even had me in the ER. And you most definitely have me now. I'm not going anywhere."

One look at Isaac and you are convinced he is a bad boy. He is covered in tattoos, drives a Cadillac, runs a shop with his brothers, and is a member of the "Low-Low's", San Diego's exclusive car club. When he notices Renee in the ER he knew he wanted her. But when he saw her at the car show, he no longer wanted her. . .he HAD to have her!

"She was just like my Cadillac. Clean, Classy, Hottest thing in town, and all mine. I couldn't wait to take her for a cruise."

They have off the charts chemistry and an amazing connection. Neither one of them has ever felt this intense of a connection with anyone else. But when lies are told and secrets are kept, eventually the truth will come out and hearts will be shattered. Can they overcome their pasts and make a future? Or are some wounds just too deep?

"You are stuck with me." I said kissing him quickly on the lips before adding, "Like a bad tattoo, there's no getting rid of me once you got me. And you my man, have got me."

From the moment you finish this book you will want to reread it. It is beautiful, emotional, healing, loving, heartbreaking, sexy and everything in between! You will not be disappointed! I will be a forever fan of A. Vasquez and can't wait for more from her! Congratulations on your debut novel! Loved every word!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you!

I enjoyed this book. It gives dual Point of Views for both of the main characters. It helps to give an all around understanding of the whole story. Although necessary, it kind of made the story drag along a little in the beginning but it did pick up. Renee and her relationship change quickly, which is unusual, but is also what feeds the story. I really liked Renee. I can relate to her personality. It was a very good story line and it definitely pulled on my heart strings. I'm glad for the ending it had. I kind of wonder what more happens with Camille.

-------------------------------------------------

Renee is a young girl who lost her twin sister to a brutal murder. Unable to cope she moves to the city where her sister was killed. Issac is a cholo who loses his brother in a drive by shooting by the rival car club. Living day to day, barely getting through, Renee unexpectedly falls for Issac, who she sees at work. They end up talking and get to know each other. They both start feeling things they have never felt before. He is the total opposite of what she ever wanted in a man, especially since he is the same type of man who killed her sister.

Their past will soon come crashing together in ways that neither of them could every imagine.

Spoiler! This book is different than anything out that I have read. It has a lot of similarities with the MC books but instead of the MC it has these "Low" groups that come off as a gang type group. They have the area they rule and do drives. They have a rival Low group. Most of the characters are Mexican and I liked that it was different. What brought the book down is his love them and leave them attitude and all of a sudden he just stops. He is rude and takes what he wants from the whores not caring if they get off or their name and then boom he is a totally nice guy. Also the other gang never got there payback on Renee. I guess it will be in the next book.

I'm probably a little closer to a 2.5. The writing is fine, however I felt like the characters were in a gang and there isn't really anything sexy to me about thugs. I also thought that as interesting as it was to be immersed in the Latino culture, there were too many things that if you were not up to date with the culture/words and trends that you might not understand what she is talking about. I wish her all the success as an author and hope that she continues on, she as a unique voice.

She needs to get away from her house. It is just too painful to be there without her twin. She goes to San Diego to see what Haley saw and felt. She works in the ER. It's a busy night. They just got radioed with a gun shot wound. In walks the patient's brother. OMG those eyes are so sexy and hot. Fate takes them high and low. Great story, great story of the power of love.

Enjoyable read. I liked that it was set within a different community. The H was Mexican/American and the h white. It was well written. You probably will guess some of the plot but I don't think it spoils the story.
She does do something TSTL reasonably early on but the plot moved on. The romance was fun to read.

I finished this one in a couple of hours. Really great book I have been looking for that something different and this was it. For a debut novel it was amazing. It was so relatable to me being from SoCal. Great job. A couple of grammar errors but easily overlooked. Can't wait

Plot was alright, not my thing, a lot of Hispanic innuendos which I didn't think was needed. I understand what the author intention was just not my thing. Good luck.
