Text and photos present characteristics, habits, and habitats of small and furry mammals, including the dormouse, pine marten, cotton-top tamarin, pygmy marmoset, and water shrew.
Excellent photographs -- these small and furry creatures are detailed right down to their whiskers!
The book is informative but basically meanders, talking about the animals in the photos as opposed to breaking information down in sections on feeding, camouflage, etc. Captions, or at least some kind of direction marker, would help identify which creature the text is referring to. (As an adult, this is relatively easy for me to figure out, but a young child would have a much harder time making the connections.)
Although this is a pretty old book by now, it's held up amazingly well, with only a few layout decisions indicating its age. (Non-fiction these days is much more "user-friendly.")
