by Monte Beauchamp This sequel to 2004's hugely popular The Devil in Design, which featured 18th- and 19th-century Krampus postcards, is a fascinating, full-color compendium of extremely rare devil postcards - over 150 - culled from key postcard collections from around the world, spanning approximately from 1898 through the 1950s.
Overall, a decent illustrator’s reference book for various devils and demons, but there were only two written intro pages with nearly no history. Taschen’s books would have more to offer if you’re looking for more background on the “why.” But if you’re just in need of some vintage ideas from peculiar postcards and greetings, this has that to offer. Some of the actual pieces have the year printed on them, but not a lot of info on where they came from or for what occasion.
