Just a Hint of Thug

Rate this book
Kenya Bacon is a young and successful business owner of a well-known coffee shop in downtown Vera Cruz, Alamosa. Although her financial life is soaring, her love life of seven years has sunken in the trenches. Tired of carrying the weight of a relationship that has long run its course, Kenya decides to call it quits. The only thing is Cage, her boyfriend, isn’t giving up so easily. Cage’s willingness to try and save what they have ceases to matter when Kenya set her sights on a pair of dark, dreamy eyes with a smooth, raspy voice.

Jacquees Broady, better known as Jaq, ran hard in the streets of Vera Cruz during Donwade’s reign. After the death of the biggest drug lord in Alamosa, the dope game started to move differently. Jaq took that opportunity to lay low and go legit, servicing vehicles. With no real business experience, Jaq believed that revenues would pile in from the streets, off of the goodness of his name. He quickly learned his name only held value in the underworld, until he comes across a dark, thick beauty. She opens his eyes to running a successful business and his heart to love again.

Jaq and Kenya both have people from their past that refuse to move on, but it doesn’t stop them from growing on each other. As the love they develop for one another takes off, Kenya discovers a piece of Jaq’s past remains, putting a wedge between what they quickly formed. Will the love Jacquees and Kenya built, be strong enough to put them back together?

It's Such A Nice Way To Grow.

L'Amour Coulture. Such a great read! In reading this I had many emotions from sad,mad excited and joyful. Watching Kenya go through life lessons was very real. Thank you for showing her vulnerability and her human side. Some of us it takes longer than others. Although, she was able to not be so messed up that she stayed off her square for long.
Jaq was a man that had direction and purpose. He lived his life as he wanted but without malice or hate. He was always in a good way until he wasn't. Thank you again for showing a black man with emotions and having a caring heart. He showed up in a way that made my heart full. It's the growth in Kenya for me. I loved the friendship Quetta and Kenya had. This was another good piece of work by you! Thank you🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

The heart wants what the heart wants. When a woman or man is fed up, there is absolutely nothing that you can do about it. Kenya was with Cage for five long years and she took care of everything financially. Homeboy cheated and had two babies on her, but upset when she called their relationship off. Jaw treated Gizelle like a queen, cheated on him and didn’t want to believe that he called their relationship off. Cage and Gizelle delusional behinds needed to be together. I loved Kenya and Jaq’s relationship because she caused him to want to be together. The book was well written, touched on family relationships, flowed well, kept my attention and the way that she tackled Dementia was awesome. Great character development of Kenya and Jaq. Well worth reading.

This book was entirely too slow. I want to skip through it but I want to fully read take in the book. This is my first book from this author. Maybe something else will be a better read for me.

Kenya was little too green for me. It annoyed me at times. Jaq was everything she needed and he knew immediately. I love how he never waived. It made the story beautiful.

This book took me on a ride honey!!! I usually don’t like slowburns but the tension between these two was tangible from the moment they set eyes on each other. Also I know that OW/OM drama isn’t well liked in romance but I love it cause it just adds more entertainment to the story. This was a really good book. Long chapters and 3rd POV but didn’t taint the feel of the book.

Looks like I have another book bae to add to the roster. Jaq was everything, hood but good AND NASTY. This was a love at first sight tale, but it took a minute for them to get it together. Some of Kenya's actions grated my nerves, but I understood the message about domestic violence. This book has everything that I love; spice, plot twists, and delusional exes. As far as getting to the meat and potatoes, I can appreciate the buildup to intimacy and HEA. I would definitely recommend this one.

must read

My man! My man! My man!!!! That’s all I can think to say when it comes to Jaq!!! Focused, determined, and knew exactly what he wanted when he set his sight on it. I really enjoyed this story and it’s definitely a page turner.

Kenya and Jaq are two business owners who meet by mutual acquaintance. Jaq is looking to achieve the kind of business success Kenya has and she offers to share her expertise, and soon something else is growing between them. But Kenya is in a relationship and her ex won't let go of his financial support so easily.

Kenya and her ex was a heavy and relatable story. Her wanting to unburden herself from someone who isn't doing their part was good and emotional. I love the way Jaq took care of his sister and grandmother and the way Kenya's mother came in to fill the gaps. Jaq and Kenya's ascendance to love was slow, at times a bit too slow, but still good. Jaq was set on her and showed his intention, but Kenya's indecisiveness was grating after a while. And although there were some inconsistencies in the writing that made me feel like it could have used more editing, I enjoyed most of it.
