Dr. Chris Bart is the world's leading expert on Mission Statements and how organizations can more effectively use them to become "mission driven" and capture the elusive "mission mystique".
The aspect of “A Tale of Two Employees” that I admire the most is that the information a comprehensive, insightful, and certainly professional, yet it’s also expressed in a way that doesn’t make the overall read feel dull or chore-like in any way whatsoever (which is something I can’t say about the majority of books I have read in this genre)
The author offers readers great advice through the means of a very unique writing ‘formula’ – the business and managerial related concepts and ideas are conveyed through a story that, in my opinion, make the information easy to visualize in a practical and realistic setting. Author Dr. Christ Bart doesn’t just TELL the reader what to do, he instead SHOWS through the use of different characters acting out in a wide variety of professional settings and situations. I think that this is a very effective and original concept which not only made the book easier for me to understand, but also made it quite entertaining to the point that I didn’t find myself forcing my way through the chapters. Overall, I’m more than satisfied with the book and I plan on giving it a reread in the near future to keep what I’ve learned fresh in my mind. I highly recommend it.
As a leader, I ask myself, as much as I'm asked, 'How do I exert effective leadership?'
In other words: How do I maintain control while continuing to operate my organization efficiently & effectively, without giving myself a stroke in the process?!
I'd be lying if I said it was innate to my genes, or I learned it in the crib along with mobiles and mother's milk...
This book by Dr. Bart is a Huge reason for my success, and really the best organizational book I've come across since some of Drucker's works in the 1980s. And more condensed, too!
Chris simplifies this mightily for us----he breaks it down to 4 Questions>>> the answers to which set me on a course at once so obvious (why didn't I think of it, right?), yet so profound in the changes it wrought upon my company once implemented.
I'd bet nickels to nuts any serious manager'll have a similar 'Revelation' with this book as well.
This is a great, simple way to start a new employee on the road to learning how to amaze, teach, train, and give the job the best of their best. I see the potential for this being a training tool for new employees in a variety of jobs. The insight was easy to learn, and will help those seeking the help in bringing life to the mission statement, and how it guides every employee in the company. These words of wisdom can be used as a guide to create and maintain a great company team from CEO to Customer Service. Mr. Bart is a man ready to protect and guide the leaders who will take us into the next stage of life. He is passionate, and sincerely wants to help others grow into all they can be. PS. The formatting errors are not the fault of the author, but of a program that has yet revealed its errors.
This is a must read for all managers. The parable style in which the book is written easily demonstrates how managers can use this problem solving technique to help employees fulfill their roles in the organization. It gives managers a logical process to follow when faced with employees that are not performing well.
Excellent book, easy to read and easy principles to apply. It's certainly affected my reaction to staff not completing a task, there are now steps to take in figuring out the true reason for work not getting done! And better yet how to deal with this issue.
A useful tool for organizations that are focused on truly accomplishing their vision! The concepts presented in this book provide tools that are simply effective, especially for implementing strategy and developing new leaders.
Practical, informative, concise. Easy to implement the information right away. I highly recommend this book for any leader that wants to quickly improve their leadership skills.
