Ava Claire is a sucker for Alpha males and happily ever afters. When not putting pen to paper or glued to her Kindle, Ava likes road tripping, karaoke, and vintage fashion.
I'm a sucker for a great billionaire romance, the fantasy is so much more fun when money isn't an issue and allows for extravagant things to happen between the characters. Jacob Whitmore is one dreamy, self-confident, alpha billionaire and I had a fabulous time stepping into his world. Leila Montgomery is a recent graduate yearning to make a big success in the world of public relations so she heads to Whitmore and Creighton. A run-in with Jacob Whitmore on the way to her interview sets off an amazing chain of events (stairwells, who knew these were sexy) and Leila ends up as Jacob's personal assistant and his submissive. The push-pull between Jacob and Leila is fantastic … she has never been a sub so she is always pushing boundaries/breaking rules but Jacob secretly loves it. Of course you can't have a great romance without drama … exes reappear, crazy mothers, celebrity crushes … all factor into the trials and tribulations that Leila and Jacob face as they work to figure out how they feel. Can Jacob open up and truly let Leila in? Will Leila be able to be a sub and stay true to herself and career? Enjoyed every moment of their romance.
As always this is just to let you know before reading my review that I write my reviews as I am reading so I don’t forget anything I wanted to say. So please keep that in mind when you reading this and if it seems like I am making any guesses as to what MIGHT happen this is why.
Book 1 – The Billionaire’s Contract 3.5 stars This was a pretty good start to this series…though Jacob is very hard around the edges when we first meet him. I’m hoping we get to see another side of him later…a softer side. Leila is feisty though she has her self-conscious moments something tells me she can definitely hold her own where Jacob’s surliness is concerned. I’m jumping right into part two, I’m intrigued to see how Leila takes to being not only a Sub but also Jacob’s assistant…should be good.
Book 2 – The Billionaire’s Touch 4 stars Woo wee this one was really good. Let start by saying this Rachel girl is T.R.O.U.B.L.E. and she isn’t going away anytime soon for these two. I have a feeling Leila is going to end up leaving because of Rachel at some point and Jacob is going to have to do A LOT of groveling. Allegra is hilarious and I how she instigates to push Leila and Jacob together. I have a feeling she is going to play a pivotal role in their HEA. We still haven’t seen a lot of that softer side yet though we have seen a glimpse here and there, I really want to see all of Jacob’s walls come tumbling down.
Book 3 – The Billionaire’s Passion 4 stars I knew Rachel was going to be trouble…but she is only going to accomplish pushing Jacob closer to Leila in the end. Oh and don’t get me started on Leila turning down sightseeing to work, although in the end she’s proving the better person but still… And she dropped the L word…granted only to herself but it’s there now and she knows it. It’s obvious Jacob is feeling something…it may not be love but it’s something strong. Finally Rachel got a little of what was coming to her…she’s a bully and just all around nasty person who needs to go away.
Book 4 – The Billionaire’s Heart 4.5 stars Oh man…I knew I was going to like Allegra when she was first introduced…how she helps and talks to Leila just cemented that. The whole part with Silvio was great I love the things he said to Leila to try and get her to see herself the way Jacob does. OMIGOD This girl!!! Rachel is a sad, SAD creature and I pity her in this book, because SERIOUSLY let go. On the plus side hey the L bomb got dropped on both sides… I loved the ending to this book…especially where Jacob made mention that Rachel should just get on with offing herself. Now normally this wouldn’t be funny but the way the line was delivered made me laugh out loud.
Book 5 – The Billionaire’s Girlfriend 4 irritating stars Okay Leila’s mom is VERY sketchy and obviously just wants to stir up drama in her daughter’s life. I’m waiting for the moment where Leila writes her off. Not to mention what the hell is with EVERYONE trying to break these two up???? Why is it SO wrong that they are happy? I just don’t get it…I have almost been wondering if Rachel is still behind all of this only at a sneakier level. This book is officially pissing me off…why? 1. Leila is blind when it comes to double standard issues. (It’s not okay when Jacob has even a meeting with Rachael, BUT meeting Cade for coffee is OKAY…she KNEW that it was a bad idea she just wants to not believe Cade could be manipulating her.) 2. Everybody and their sister seem to be trying to beak these two up, and WHY? They are happy leave them alone good god! GAH…*grumble, grumble* This better get fixed but I know it’s going to get worse as I’m only on Part 6 of 12…half way through and I have a feeling I may throw something before it’s over.
Book 6 – The Billionaire’s Secret 4 irritating then emotional then back to irritating stars THANK YOU Megan for finally telling Leila what she needs to hear and not sugar coating it! Now we just need Jacob to do the same thing…AND Leila wizen up and tell Cade to back off or get lost. To right Jacob…to right…that was a good play; Jacob: 1, Leila: 0. In Jacob’s defense Leila DID say she wanted to earn her spot in the company. AND…Jacob: 2, Leila: 0…THANK YOU Jacob for putting Leila in her place as well and telling her what she needed to hear without sugarcoating it! Leila’s mom still is sketchy for me…so NOW after she has caused problems in their relationship…NOW she is concerned about Leila. SMH… And BOOM the ball drops…WHY did you read that letter? It wasn’t addressed to you…I get it you were curious BUT ask instead of just looking…come on now woman!
Book 7 – The Billionaire’s Lust 4 stars OMG and it starts… 1. Megan though she had every right to be mad at Leila about what she said…Megan shouldn’t hold Leila responsible for NOT knowing about said guy Megan was dating when Megan had never mentioned it at all. 2. AGAIN WITH LEILA’S MOM!!!! She ticks me off more than anyone and needs to GO AWAY with Rachael! 3. Natasha…okay so you have a THING for Jacob…get over it he is with someone else! (This goes along with every other girl who has an issue with Leila.) 4. Missy KNOWINGLY pushes Cade onto Leila (part of the previous book but it pissed me off so much I had to add it here…lol) knowing she has been taken OFF his case. I am going to need a shot after reading this series… OMIGOD!!! I had reservations about Leila’s mom…WTH is up with Jacob’s?!?! Only one person obviously comes to mind as to who is behind it…Rachel…AND here we go are ROUND 2…so far the score is Leila: 2, Rachel: 1…let’s see who is going to win this round.
Book 8 – The Billionaire’s Promise 4.5 fighting stars She did NOT just try to buy Leila out of marrying her son?!?! That is legit a low blow even for Rachel…and using Jacob’s own mother again them, she needs help SERIOUS help. And now it’s Rachel: 3, Leila: 2…oh boy…this round is getting a little hairy! Okay now couldn’t Rachel be popped for not only stalking Jacob AND Leila BUT also threatening Leila as well?? No one has even thought, HEY maybe I should go to the police for at least harassment? I give Leila her props…she honestly tried to sort things out with Jacob’s mother…and when Alicia finally realizes that this whole time Rachel was playing her she is going to: 1. Feel horrible 2. Have A LOT of groveling to do not just with Leila but also with Jacob. Oh man final score this round Leila: 10, Rachel: 3 sorry but that…proposing to Leila in FRONT of Rachel garners AT LEAST 6 additional points just sayin’.
Book 9 – The Billionaire’s Desire 4.5 stars Poor Jacob…he was so utterly broken when he lost his grandparents but found some way to go on. His mother…still being a butt, but I think she is going to see the truth at some point. Mia is a little shit thus far, Leila and Missy have a LOT of work ahead of them with her…oh and speaking of Missy…WTH is with her sudden wanting to be BFF’s with Leila? That is sketchy and she is suspect until further reading. As I said Missy is STILL suspect, and NOW she is pulling a power trip. I have a feeling she is going to make Leila’s life a living hell for going to Jacob about the Kent case. AND the bomb drops…Missy is going to be severely reprimanded for her hand in what happened to push Mia over that edge.
Book 10 – The Billionaire’s Past 4.5 stars Hmm…Mia’s friend is BAD news, and I’m wondering how long before Mia realizes he’s not good for not only her reputation but also her life. I see Jacob getting mad because Mia is taking up all of Leila’s time…I see it is going to happen at some point. Oh and WTH is with Jacob’s mom? I get she is trying to explain herself but that is something she needs to talk to Jacob about. Granted I see why she went to Leila but not telling Jacob was a horrible thing of his mother to do. Leila hit the nail on the head when she said it’s sad that she can’t talk to her own son but she can talk to a stranger about her feelings. Holy hell she apologized...hell has gotten a little colder!! Obviously what Leila said hit a HUGE cord with her, and I'm glad it did maybe now she will stop being a complete pain in the ass. Now we need to get Rachel to go away for good then we will be good.
Book 11 – The Billionaire’s Trust 4.5 stars Alicia is going to start again…only this time she is going mother of the Groomzilla. I seriously don’t know why Leila doesn’t speak up…I mean I understand his mother is trying to get along and adjust to Leila but taking over their wedding isn’t the way to NOT piss her off. Okay Leila is kind of ticking me off in this book…yeah okay your mad at you mom but seriously?!?! You don’t call her and include her because you’re “miffed” at her…that is childish AND grow a backbone already with mommy-in-law dearest! Oh Rachel…you will get yours soon…I saw the wheels turning in Mia’s head as she talked to Leila in her office. Leila is between a rock and a hard place where Jacob’s mother is concerned…she HAS to tell her what she wants with the wedding but she has to worry about stressing her as well. I’m honestly not sure how this is going to play out where the wedding is concerned.
Book 12 – The Billionaire’s Forever 4 stars OH GOD!!! Go Mia…LMAO, check and mate to you Rachel. With Rachel being otherwise occupied with other things, we can now keep our eyes on the prize and try to rein in Jacob’s mom from becoming a mother of the Groomzilla…Leila NEEDS to talk to her and Jacob. Honestly it’s about time Leila stood her ground and I’m glad she walked out of the brunch…I’m also glad she told Jacob how she felt about the wedding finally. Not just that but what he does after she talks to him…not just romantic but he took back their wedding in a great way. As happy I was with the ending of this story I was kind of hoping for an Epilogue with maybe kids or an anniversary or something along the lines. Either way this was a great ending…
The series as a whole was great and fast paced, I enjoyed reading it and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a weekend read.
I didn't hate this, but I think I should've read this as the e-series. Attempting to read the whole boxed set just completely felt way too long. I hoped it would be similar to Red Phoenix Brie series which I completely devoured in a few days, & it is a little, but I just couldn't get into it as much. I actually had to put it aside & read 2 other books before picking it back up & finishing it. It was good. I liked the characters & the plots, but it just felt way too drawn out. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it either.
This book may be the most predictable book I’ve ever read. Ava Claire practically wrote the same story as 50 Shades of Grey with only a few differences. The assistant falls for her billionaire boss… his ex tries to ruin their relationship… his terrible mother tries to pay Leila off and so forth. But I must say, the sex scenes did not disappoint. I just wish there were more hehe.
Although it was predictable, I found myself liking the main characters Jacob and Leila.. and may have found myself tearing up a few times. That being said I do not think they needed to drag it on for over 600 pages… but once you start a book you can’t not finish it.
There is nowt about this series that I would change. The author has managed to keep my interest throughout 12 parts where I have felt invested in the story, engaged with the characters, and after each book, I've been left wanting more.
The need to sit and devour every word was paramount to the exclusion of everything else!.
Jacob and Leila were so chalk and cheese and yet so in tune with each other's needs. It was an absolute pleasure to watch how Leila grew into the perfect submissive through Jacob's lessons. I felt they both grew with each other and there was a respect between them that turned to love.
The sex is off the scale hot, with appropriate language used and also stayed constant throughout the books.
Ms Claire has written a damn good book that is well worth a read, whether you read it as 12 parts or in one complete book, it is definitely worth reading.
This book read like they were two kids battling on who can pout the most. It seems that Leila Montgomery's favorite words are I'm sorry. I was only able to get through half of the book because she lacked common sense and all she wanted to do was have sex. For someone to be in PR she had no tack or professionalism. I've never known a person who could not make one good decision and consistently made bad ones and thought sex was the answer. At chapter 6 I just couldn't do it anymore. This book just had me all over the place. I have forced myslef to read to book 8. Yeah i am done. Don't know why i am torturing myslef when i can move on to another book.
very good series. I really enjoyed how they began and the end. The storyline was very interesting and was good. The only thing I wasn't sure about is the fact that this really wasn't much bdsm like it appeared to be. She wasn't submissive lol. but. overall very good and would recommend it to others.
The characters were so flimsy, the plot awkward. I would usually speed read as I hate to give up on a book. I just could do it, even the antagonist was random. I have up.....
4 stars b/c sharing with the harshly critical world is hard
I'm an easy reader, and this book had a really good premise (a mimic of 50 shades) but the story itself fell flat. Characters were weak-minded, but not undeveloped. Jacob blew hot and cold at times for no reason whatsoever. Leila fell when she should've stood up, and stood up when she should've gave up. Most of the characters were mainly annoying. Her mother was very annoying, so was his for that matter, and neither was ever truly put in their place before I stopped reading. I fell out with the whole story when he demanded his grandmother's ring from someone that didn't want him and Leila together, when he was worth millions and could've easily bought a ring before he proposed and moved on from the negative forces in their lives. Leila wouldn't have missed what she never had, but they both kept embracing those that wanted them split up. Why did he proposed without a ring? Don't get me wrong, there is drama tenfold, but it was unnecessary most times. Characters were allowed to make fools out of the MC's at every turn, and the MC's put up with it but God forbid Jacob got jealous. There was no problem for him to kick Leila to the curb, and she came back for more every time. I did like that the BDSM didn't get out of control like in 50 shades; even suggesting beating me with a belt and we're done. Although, to me, BDSM is abusive and degrading, but if that's your thing, go for it. Just keep your painful kinks and need to have someone bowing or be the one bowing on your side of the room. But I guess it's better to get on your knees willingly like Leila than be forced. I was glad she enjoyed it. That was the best part of the book, she did nothing for him she didn't want to...sexually.
This is Jacob's and Leila's story. This is definitely in my top 50 for series books that I have read. I don't know how to put my feelings into exact words with this series. Jacob is Leila's greatest gift and Leila is Jacob's greatest gift. These two characters are awesome. You have to pick up this series and just read it from page one and you will not be able to put it down to the end. I am so glad that I got to read this series. You have the romance..The suspense sort of..The jealous girl..The mom that thinks she knows best and the two lovers that no matter come out ahead and love each other more cause of the situations that have happened upon them. This author took two semi normal characters and put them together with an explosion of heat..Erotica and kink too but never strayed from the love between them. So you really need to pick up this series and read.. Enjoy I know I will again and again.
This was a long read since the boxed set includes all twelve releases. It was good, not great, but good. The story of Leila and Jacob is one of the "insta-attraction/insta-love" type books so, if you hate that, this really isn't the book for you. Jacob is definitely an alpha-male with a chip on his shoulder. But hey, he's HOT so it's all good, right? He wants Leila and what Jacob wants, Jacob gets. And Leila, sweet, funny, stubbord, aint-gonna-take-your-crap Leila, Lord I loved her.
My problem with these books is that they are a lot of loose ends. I HATE that. Wrap it up and put a bow on it for me please!!! What happens with Mia? With that beotch Rachel? What the HECK is going on with her BFF Meaghan and Mr. hunky pants Cade?
Anyway, if you're looking for an alpha-male, a strong heroine with spunk and a sense of humor and some STEAMY sex, this will be a good book for you! Enjoy!!
I was a little nervous going into this book with a dom/sub and BDSM theme, I was afraid it was going to be off the charts kinky. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the author pulled it off without being extreme.
I really enjoyed that the author built a lot of plot into the story and it wasn't just centered in the bedroom. This story also spans several months which was another huge bonus so that everything didn't feel so rushed. You can't read this without falling in love with Leila and Jacob.
The only things that I found disappointing were the errors (capitalization and a few missing words) and the cliff hanger. While the book ends at a good spot in Lelia and Jacobs relationship, there are all of the secondary characters that the author spent so much time building up and you're left with so many questions. I did notice that those characters will have their own stories, I just wish that there had been given some kind of bridging point without all of the questions.
I can't help but get hooked in these kinds of stories. I know how it's going to go. The poor but beautiful girl gets caught up in the web of the unhappy but beautiful billionaire. Much sex ensues, him dominant, her submissive. I KNOW it's going to go like this. But I can't help but caught up in finding out how this couple will be different from the last couple, how the details will work out, hoping the author will come up with some unique combination of factors. And so, I rate this book based on how unique it is within the genre. And that is, not very. Her personality is fairly interesting if lacking in dimension. I couldn't keep up with her flip-flopping confidence for her job. His personality is very narrow and undeveloped. I liked the international travel though it was only a small part of the story. The supporting characters become the stars in the next installment of this story but the writing is not enough to inspire me to continue. On to the next one!
I read the first 4 stories in a box set I had purchased. It was a bunch of different authors. I got this set because I needed to know where the story continued. Leila was at this building for a job interview. Someone almost knocks her down and she makes a comment to him. Next thing she know is being dragged down a stair case, up against a wall where she is being molested by this handsome stranger, but she is not fighting, she is feeling turned on. He apologizes to her. This is Jacob, the CEO and owner of this company. This story is about Leila and Jacob and what happens to them. It is one I would highly recommend. Buy the box set because once you start reading their story you will want to keep going. Yes there is some BDSM, but the story line is great. I loved this book.
I LOVE the plot. I LOVE that the H is an alpha male. I LOVE the way Ava Claire writes all the twists and turns.
BUT....yup there's that...
I would also have loved if the h is not a freaking DOORMAT! A woman is written as a submissive yes that's true. But being that doesn't automatically make them a robot. It wouldn't hurt for Leila to at least have a mind of her own even in a few moments in one of the 12 books at least. She bows down to the H, his secretary, his other employee, his mother...and everyone else. The angst would have been more heartfelt if there was a fire in Leila's character. Rachel was much better off with the H as devious as she was because at least she was fighting for what she wants and was not afraid to speak her mind.
On the whole, I enjoyed this, though I didn’t think that I would in the beginning, with what seemed to be the now almost stereotypical format of ‘young naïve girl meets handsome and forceful billionaire’ scenario, but it seemed to get better as it went on, with some good writing that skilfully portrayed the relationships between the main protagonists, and the ambitions of family that shaped their development, set against the backdrop of celebrity and the cut and thrust of workplace politics in the high-profile PR Company run by Jacob Whitmore, the brooding Alpha male with dominant predilections, who literally runs into the submissive yet determined, Leila, when she is on her way to an interview for a position in his organisation. Although not the strongest plot line, this was quite readable. 3.5* rounded up.
I don’t know how anyone was able to finish this book. The story rushed, plot not well developed. Ridiculous characters surround the main hero and heroine. Deep down there could have been something but the writer just didn’t develop the story. Writer tried to mimic 5o Shades but failed miserably. Luckily I didn’t pay much for the set (maybe $2) but I started it several years ago (2016) Stopped reading around the middle of the 2nd chapter. I gave it another chance and now I’ve removed it from my downloads at around the end of chapter 5 (2024). Don’t waste your time. Just go back and read 50 Shades or something else in that realm from an author that develops the plot, the story and the characters. This writer is way too descriptive about absolutely nothing that drives story. A lot of words that amount to nothing worth reading.
First of all the series was intoxicating and mind-blowing. I didn't like the beginning though because he just met her and was already 'fingering' her (but i understood its significance). There should have been a better resolution to the 'Rachel' problem. I absolutely loved the twist with his mother having a heart attack and Leila sacrificing her own happiness just to make his mother happy and not get another attack. That was a fantastic spin. Their vows should have been longer and a bit more intimate (mindless of the priest). But overall this story was interesting and hilarious at some point. Ava Claire, this was a great story and I'm looking forward to read more.
