It's autumn in Twain, Georgia. Jaycee has herself a new job and with it, a new problem. Is it something bug spray can fix? Dash is struggling with more than just the reality of the pain from his injury. Could Jaycee be hiding something from him? The pumpkins are ripe on the vine and the pecans are ready to be shelled. Come spend Thanksgiving week in this southern series as Jaycee finds love.
Laura J Marshall has created a southern story that’s really southern!
Honestly, it might take you a few pages to get comfortable with the southern dialect, the characters… and their southern-ness, but once you do, I’m pretty sure you’ll be hooked!
Laura creates unique, real-life characters that engage us almost immediately and keep us involved throughout the story. I feel their struggles. I feel their pain. I feel their love.
So come along… follow their journey through the seasons with me…
Faith, Love, and Friend Chicken: Volume 2, Fall is a wonderfully poignant and deeply revealing message of living your life free of the things that hold us back - deadly lies, hidden secrets, and debilitating fear. There is no reason that we should fear to allow our heart to lead us in living our life the way it was meant to be lived. For the mind has no concept of what the heart feels and what it desperately needs. We should not be afraid of listening to our heart, but we do need to closely examine and compare it what God wants for our life. If the two align, then you are in the best place you could ever hope to be.
Dash and Jaycee are trying to figure things out together as a couple and on their own. Are they really meant to be together? Is what they have the real thing, or are they just making something big out of something small? Will what they have together last, or will this just be a summer fling? Despite the helpful advice that is given to them by the other, they have to work out these questions for themselves. The journey is not an easy one, but it is an important one. No matter what happens, they have each other, and they have their family to lean on. They are not alone.
Once again, I have found myself in love with these characters. They are real, they face real problems, and above all, they are true to themselves. Even when times get tough, they don't back away and give up. They keep moving forward always trying to find the answer to their most annoying questions. When their backs are against the wall, they call out to God who is their source of strength and guidance. It's only with His help that they finally stay silent long enough to listen to what their hearts have been telling them the entire time. It's His still small voice that leads them both to where they are meant to be.
Laura J Marshall has done it again! She has made these characters touch my heart in such a real way that at times I forgot that they are fictional. I can feel their struggles in my own heart, and I sympathize and hurt along with them. This is a wonderful sequel to Faith, Love, and Friend Chicken: Volume 1, Summer, and I can't wait to read what happened next in the season of Winter. What a beautifully heart rendering series this is becoming!
