Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change

Rate this book
Over the last 500 years, blood-red moons have fallen on the first day of Passover three separate times. These occurrences were connected to some of the most significant days in Jewish history: 1492 (the final year of the Spanish Inquisition when Jews were expelled from Spain), 1948 (statehood for Israel and the War of Independence) and 1967 (the Six-Day War). Every heavenly body is controlled by the unseen hand of God, which signals coming events to humanity. There are no solar or lunar accidents. The next series of four blood moons occurs at Passover and Sukkot in 2014 and 2015. In this riveting book, Hagee explores what these blood moons mean and why Christians must understand these signs and what they bode both for Israel and the world. Joel 2 and Acts 2 both state: "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness [eclipse] and the moon into blood [eclipse] before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes."

I have made the statement before that I don't read enough nonfiction, and when I do, it is rarely prophecy books. This one sounded very intriguing, so when I got the chance to review it, I decided to go for it.

I've never read anything by John Hagee before, but its obvious that he knows his "stuff." This is a fascinating book, and thought he did a great job of laying out the information he had, I can't put it into my own words to explain it, so you'll have to read the book to understand it for yourself. :-)

He makes a great case for something big happening to Israel some time in 2014-2015. As I said, I can't explain it, but it has to do with four blood moons appearing in relation to the Jewish calendar. He shows times in history when the same phenomenon happened and what was going on with Israel at the time, and it was always something major. I am admittedly a bit of a skeptic with this kind of thing, but Hagee made a believer out of me, and that's not easy.

In addition to laying out his case for something happening in the next two years with Israel, Hagee also gave a lot of history of the persecution of the Jews. Maybe I have just been out of school for too long, but there was a lot of information that I don't remember, such as how much the Jews were persecuted and tortured in Spain, how much the British helped Hitler's cause, and more. I was again reminded that the Jews are God's chosen people, and Hagee helped cement my belief that God will bless those who are good to His chosen people.

I don't often read a book like this in one sitting. That happens with suspense novels, but this book reeled me in and I read through it in one evening, and found it to be a very fascinating and enjoyable read, and one I'd recommend for anyone interested in end time events, and Israel's place in the world and end time events.

This is the age of non-denominational Christianity - a time where many Christians are shedding the labels they have been carrying. Labels like 'Catholic', 'Anglican', 'Presbyterian', etc. Instead, we see the uniting factors, such as the fact that we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that God raised Him from the dead. If we don't have that belief, we're not, in fact, Christians. As the time of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ draws closer, many Christians, with the anointing of the Holy Spirit, are reading the Holy Scriptures and experiencing divine revelation as they do so. I particularly remember the exhilaration I felt the first time I felt the excitement of receiving that revelation - I was reading the psalms and at Psalm 22, I read "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" In the denominational church in which I was raised, this verse, which Jesus spoke as He died on the cross, was explained to me to mean that Jesus experienced despair and depression and loss of faith in God, the idea being that we humans shouldn't feel surprised when we feel these things as Jesus felt that way too sometimes. But when I realised that Jesus had actually been quoting scripture as he died - that this psalm, which David the Psalmist had written to describe his depression was actually prophecy about the sacrifice of his divine descendent, Jesus - that explanation was turned on its head. Jesus was actually telling his disciples present - and us too - that, look, He was that man in the Psalm, fulfilling His Mission and saving mankind. Jesus was known to his followers as 'Rabbi' which means 'teacher' and he literally died teaching his followers, even as He gave up His life to save them from the power of death.

Why is the book, FOUR BLOOD MOONS, so significant? Pastor John Hagee, a prominent non-denominational Christian leader from the USA, has been studying Biblical scripture for most of his life and has experienced lots of significant revelation, which is particularly relevant to the times we live in. It's part of his ministry to share what he's learnt. The idea of the stars and planets in the cosmos giving messages to mankind about events to come is nothing new - lots of people in different religious communities in India where I live would tell you that. Pastor Hagee is particular to point out, however, that the reading of the heavenly signs are attributed to astronomy, the science of the study of stars, not astrology, which is the worship of stars. His book, FOUR BLOOD MOONS, in a frank and readable style, shares how the Tetrad, the phenomenon of four full lunar eclipses in one year, those moons appearing red because of a band of infrared light around the earth, has heralded the onset of significant changes in Israel, the land of the Bible, heralding the fulfilment of many Biblical prophecies.

Pastor Hagee makes a very definite case for Christians supporting Israel, as the Christian faith owes its very existence to the Jewish faith. You'll need to keep your Bible by your side as you read this, to enjoy the revelation and see how based in scripture this work of non-fiction actually is.

As a Christian, I've been so saddened to read about how historical Christianity persecuted the Jewish people throughout the millennia. The Bible is a very precious resource for the whole world and it's a testimony to how God cares for His chosen people that they have somehow thrived and survived in spite of the most fearsome persecution. The Bible tells us that we should pray for the peace of Jerusalem and as Jesus Christ, whom Christians follow, is Jewish Himself, I'm sure he wholeheartedly agrees. Because as believers know, Jesus is alive and is our Lord.

This book is highly recommended for people interested in Christianity, Judaism, current affairs, history and Biblical prophecy. That covers a lot of readers. I hope this immensely readable and fascinating book will be widely read, debated and discussed.

I received a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Four Blood Moons: Something is About to Change by John Hagee

DNF @ page 49

Everything about this book screamed red flags to me.
Red Flag #1: There are no endorsements or blurbs from other authors anywhere on this book. Not on the back or the front. It's all about Hagee and any other mention of Mark Blitz in regards to the Scripture in Joel 2:30-31 as well as Acts 2:19-20. The fact that other Christian teachers, scholars, pastors, and theologians don't endorse this book proves that its "prophetic" end times propaganda with an agenda to push beliefs is not supported by others of validity in the Church.
Red Flag #2: On page 4, which is really page 2, Hagee self-promotes his program Christians United for Israel. He drops a link in the middle of his book. If that isn't blatant self-promotion and propaganda pushing then I don't know what is. I am all about speaking, sharing, promoting, and talking about ministries but this is a little too far for me. As a reader I don't want to be told to go to a website and this self-promotion really does nothing for me in regards to my own spiritual walk other than raising an eyebrow and feeling uncomfortable. Please, tell me about your ministry, but don't force me to follow a link.
Red Flag #3: This book does not have a header with a title, but with a hashtag. The hashtag is #BLOODMOONS. More propaganda. This isn't raising awareness, sharing the Gospel, or pointing people to Jesus. Know this book is all about pointing you towards John Hagee's foundation with the underlying message that if you don't follow his cause then you will burn and not be blessed.
Red Flag #4: This book blurs Scripture and science. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's done not to connect or celebrate God, but to further push this idea of these blood moons are going to bring about the end times and are in direct alignment with the Jewish calendar.
Red Flag #5: This book on page 40 acknowledges the Scripture in Matthew 24:36 that Jesus's own prophecy concerning end times marks that no man or angel will be able to set an exact date for when He would return. What is this book trying to do? Set an exact date for God's plans. This book ignores this prophecy from Jesus by trying to do just that which is FALSE TEACHING.
Red Flag #6: Hagee keeps mentioning the Scriptures in Joel and Acts in regards to the Tetrads, but Scripture clearly states that this occurrence will be like nothing man has seen before. The Tetrads, blood moons, and solar eclipses are not a new phenomena. This is not at all what these prophesies are alluding to.
Red Flag #7: When the Holy Spirit told me that I could put this book down and not finish it, that was enough for me. I've had enough of Hagee to know that this "prophecy" is not endorsed by other Christian teachers for a reason.

Something is about to change…
And unless you’ve had your head in the sand, you probably know already that many of the signs of the end times are taking place all around us. You need only turn on the news for about a minute to see that the floods, famine, and general unrest in the world is happening daily. The earth is literally crying out for the return of The Lord.

There are tons of books out there on this ever popular, hot topic.
But how do we separate the truth from the mumbo-jumbo?

In John Hagee’s latest release, Four Blood Moons, he uses Scripture to point out some very very interesting connections between the Word of God and the world outside our window. He specifically takes a deeper look at the signs in the heavens, the prophecies of Scripture and (something I had never really considered)… the Four Blood Moons.

Sure, most of us have heard of the moon turning to blood in the book of Revelation, but what readers may not be aware of are the occurrences that have taken place throughout history. Hagee highlights these in detail in the book, as they mark significant spiritual events in history. He also brings to light the next time period that we can expect to see these moons again (2014-2015).

What is the prophetic significance of these moons?
What is the common denominator of their appearances in history?
Why do they matter and what do they mean for you and me?

Read FOUR BLOOD MOONS & find out for yourself!

Hagee believes that the series of lunar eclipses on Jewish holidays during the 2014-2015 Jewish year indicates that something big is going to happen to Israel (and the world). There are all kinds of difficulties with this book. The Jewish year is lunar so the eclipses on Jewish feast dates are not unusual. Historically, there have been many of these four lunar eclipses on feast days within a Jewish year and only three have corresponded to major events for the Jews. There is a huge mis-statement in the book where Hagee says a total solar eclipse happened the day before a lunar eclipse (astronomical impossibility) and NASA web sites show his error (there was a lunar eclipse but no solar one). He contradicts himself in saying, at one point, NASA says there will be no more of the Tetrads (four lunar eclipses) in this century (p. 221)and then says there will be seven more (p. 224-5). You can seen other problems with the book at my full review http://bit.ly/1bq3z7y. One thing about Hagee, he does not say there "might" or "could" be major happenings during the 2014-15 Jewish year. He says there will be. Time will tell.

I had never heard of this author before, but a lady from a church I used to attend very kindly insisted I read this book.

I was disappointed. I was furious. I was scared. I was bored out of my skull.

The disappointment and fury are because this book does not in any way, shape or form deserve the accolades my friend accords it. Two points:

1) Though he holds a Diploma of Theology, Hagee does not interpret Scripture correctly.

a) On page 78 he begins by quoting Luke 21.36 (NKJV):

" 'Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.'

The point is very clear: if you are not watching for His coming, you will not be counted 'worthy to escape all the things that will come to pass' during the Great Tribulation. If you're not watching for Him, He's not coming for you!"

Hagee quotes the Bible, and then misquotes it to make his point. That right there is enough for me.

Yet, not only this, but as a stated pre-millennialist (p. 66), he's got his facts wrong. The Rapture, in which Christians on earth will rise to meet Christ in the air, takes place before the Great Tribulation. Luke 21.36 here speaks about the Tribulation, yet Hagee takes it out of context to use in giving advice concerning the Rapture.

(Which, by the bye, Christians do not have to worry at all about the Rapture. When it happens, when they are caught up in the air to meet the Lord, they will know. IOW, there doesn't need to be all this 'advice' on watching for Him.)

b) In Luke 7.1-10, Jesus heals the servant of a centurion. In verse 5, the Jewish elders say, the centurion 'loves our nation and has built our synagogue'. On page 5 in his book, Hagee claims that Jesus healed the man's servant because "a Gentile had performed a practical act of kindness to bless Israel and the Jewish people." That statement is incorrect, Mr. Hagee. Jesus never healed anyone because he deserved it. Jesus healed simply because that was a reason He was sent on the earth, and to read anything further into it is to misinterpret Scripture.

There are more examples I could show, but these are enough to prove Hagee wrong, and very suspect.

c) Hagee also seems to have his ideas of believing the Bible backward --

"Why is Genesis 1.1 controversial? Why does the prince of darkness hate this verse and every concept of this verse? Because if you don't believe Genesis 1.1 and trust the Holy Spirit when He tells you of the creation, why would you trust Him when He tells you about the Father's plan of salvation for your eternal soul in John 3.16?" (p. 30)

That to me is not psychologically sound. There are quite a lot of people who've come forward at a revival meeting, or accepted the plan of salvation in a one-on-one testimony, who did not at all believe Scripture. The Spirit convicts their heart, they believe and embrace Him, and then they examine the Bible and come to accept its truth. The Spirit can work without the Bible, but the Bible does not work without the Spirit. (Yes, it is God's word, in and of itself, but it is the Spirit who takes the words and applies them to a person's life.)

2) Hagee holds a BS in History and Education, yet he can't use dates properly. He skips back and forth in his usage of BC and BCE, yet uses AD in several places. Okay, maybe these occurrences are an editorial flub, but it is his name on the book!

On page 17, he makes a big point that he will use the Bible, history, and astronomy -- but not astrology! Yet I notice he doesn't mind using numerology. Page 48 begins a computation of this, that and the other thing leading up to the idea that every 490 years, something historically big happens to the Jewish nation. Only, as you read through his count, the timetable doesn't add up. This happening took 490 years - only, he admits, actually it took a few years longer. This next happening also took 490 years - but, um, it also exceeds the time. Then there are a few 490 year stretches where nothing significant is noted. Yet we are supposed to believe Hagee that something major will positively, definitely happen in upcoming months?

He cites several examples of what's wrong with America, one of which is the "death tax, which can exceed 50 percent of a (property's) value" (p. 134). That's fine and dandy, but though this book was published in 2013, that information is quoted from an article written in 2010! But Hagee doesn't bother to give updated information (though it's easily found online).

... I could go on, but I must admit I'm getting bored again.

And this brings me to being both bored and scared.

See, this lady who loaned me the book for a long time listened to the same preacher I did, who taught the Scripture from the pulpit and in his Sunday School classes. As did his wife, who with this same lady, co-taught the class I attended. So why doesn't this lady see the mistakes and wrong interpretation of Scripture that I do? Why do I see this same lack of learning in other churches? That scares me.

Yes, Hagee DOES preach the Gospel; the plan of salvation is exactly described. Yet I found inaccuracies and questionable ideas on at least every third page. Yes, I know my Biblical theology -- but my friend has had as many opportunities of learning in her church.

And I'm sure other people do too -- yet why is this book so popular? All its 246 pages of text boil down to nothing more than the blurb on the back cover, which can be paraphrased as "Things are going to happen; be watching!" So many find this so amazing and mind-blowing -- but people, Hagee doesn't SAY anything!

Just that between April 2014 and September 2015 there will be four blood moons and a total solar eclipse -- and so we should all be frightened! Aaaaa!

I'm sorry. But this bores me because a) Authors since Hal Lindsey in 1970 with THE LATE, GREAT PLANET EARTH have been expounding this exact message - that something's about to happen; and b) So it is. So it will.

But does that mean we have to go out and spend $14.99 on yet another book about it?

He claimed it was the end of the world, because there were eclipses of the moon on Jewish holidays, but you can only have eclipses during a full moon and the Jewish holidays are based on the full moon. Also the world didn't come to an end that year, this guy is a total false teacher. Don't waste your time or your money on this one.

One of my favorite preachers and writers tackles end time prophecy from a totally new viewpoint. Looking at astronomy, specifically full moons, John Hagee hits a home run and opens up a world of new thought and questions regarding the last days.

Without being a spoiler, I'll just say that there have been three times in history that the Four Blood Moons have appeared in the sky. Each incident is connected with one of the Hebrew Festivals, a total solar eclipse, and specific years important to the history of Israel.

In his usual accessible style, Pastor Hagee gives the reader the necessary scriptural evidence to support his research, and that evidence is mind staggering. The most recent occurance of the four blood moons occurred in 1967... timed to coincide with the 6 Day War, and Israel's recapture of the Holy City, Jerusalem. The next four blood moon cycle is to take place in 2014-2015. And with what's happening on the Geo-Political map today, end time prophecies seem to be falling right into place.

I listen to or read a number of end time teachers, including Irvin Baxter, Perry Stone, and Hal Lindsey. Pastor Hagee, however, is the most learned, the most academic, and the most scripturally correct of them all.

I could go on and on with this incredible story, but I leave it to the reader to find out for yourself. Hagee's book is full of fact and faith. And it is especially timely as we witness the goings on in Syria, Iran, and the rest of the Middle East. Most importantly, John Hagee's message is the Jesus Christ is coming soon, and we must prepare for His return.

I received an e-copy of this book as a publisher's ARC, with the understanding that I would provide a timely and honest review. This review can also be found on Netgalley.com, my blog JonReviewsBooks1.Wordpress.com, and will appear on Amazon.com after the release date.

Contrary to what some non-Christians have commented, this book is NOT about the end of the world. Pastor John Hagee has penned a well-researched and solidly-constructed book about the "Four Blood Moons."

In his his venture into the astronomical prophetic signs, God's judgements, prophecy, natural signs of impending change, coming conflicts and the Second Coming. The author specifically focuses on the 'Four Blood Moons (FBMs). He points out that have always were accompanied significant events for the Jewish people. Pastor Hagee delves into the meaning of the 'Four Blood Moons' (the tetrad) occurrence on four Jewish festivals during 2014 and 2015. These will (already started as of the date of this writing) happen on Passover (4/15/14), Feast of the Tabernacles (10/8/14), Passover (4/4/15) and Feast of the Tabernacles (9/28/15). During the previous verifiable occurrences during 1493-94, 1949-50 and 1967-68, the Jewish people have had significant historic events. During the first "Four Blood Moons" the Jewish people were persecuted, expelled, robbed and killed by a misguided Catholic clergy. During the second set of FBMs, the Jewish nation state was established and survived an attack by its neighboring Arab nations. During the third set of FBMs, The Jewish nation won the Six Day war and established itself as a power in the Middle East.

The book does not predict but informs the reader of what has happened in the past and how the current tetrad may fit into biblical prophecy. This is a good book for those who study Jewish history, prophecy and science. read and be informed about the genius of God and his care for the Jewish people.

"Four Blood Moons" is one of those Christian prophesy books that you see come out every once in a while ("once in a while" being defined as every 30 seconds). It wasn't too bad. It was thoroughly Christian so for myself it held little meaning, but I'm glad I read it just so I know what people are talking about when they talk about the "Four Blood Moons" controversy.

It goes like this: a "Hunter's Moon" or "Blood Moon" occurs frequently enough that we note it but don't pay it heed. Pastor Hagee notes that in the past a certain sequence of Blood Moons have corresponded with some of the best and worst times in Jewish history and he warns of the Rapture (a calling up of Christians souls) very soon.

FYI... I'm Jewish. Keep that in mind as I go along here.

There is a tendency within me to mock this sort of prophetic logic and I'm doing my best to resist mocking because Pastor Hagee seems like a good guy. He supports Israel and the Jews and I don't want to mess with that. BUT I'm also NOT going to support something I think is incorrect and I think Pastor Hagee has made a mistake. It is a common mistake... one made by many Jews I know. It is the common error of "reading in" a certain meaning to events of the past and then attempting to look forward to predict the future. It almost never works and when it does, one cannot tell the difference between prediction and simple random chance.

So... I will comment on the manner in which Pastor Hagee says things and leave other issues for the reader to decide.

1. He does something typical of almost all Christians... he does not draw a distinction between Torah and other scriptures. That is a serious problem and it would be considered a mistake in most Jewish circles. I consider it a mistake.

2. This is not a mistake but it does disqualify the book as having any relevance to Jews... he is writing directly to believing Christians. He sees Jews as having a separate revelation so he does not address the Jews. I appreciate that. So... this is a book FOR CHRISTIANS ONLY.

3. He delves into Jewish subjects but only to the extent that it is important to enlighten Christians about the importance of Jewish holidays which are often unknown to Christians but very important to Jews. He tends to gloss over certain Jewish issues that I think are important but probably to Christians are not important. My sense is that he isn't skipping them because they are unknown to him. He is simplifying.

4. He tends to bounce around quite a bit, citing scripture but not the context in which those citations are made. In Christian circles this is quite common so Christians will be used to it. I found it jarring but then again... he wasn't writing the book with Jews in mind... so fine.

In a Christian context he wasn't being sensational. I think he is worried that with so many things going wrong in the world that the finally calling of all Christian souls may well be upon the world. I don't agree but he wasn't attempting to convince me. I'll let the book speak for itself.

I don't think this book could possibly mislead ANY studied Jew. Perhaps Jews who have no idea how to study might be endangered into heresies but my general sense of non-studied Jews is they know what they don't know and avoid books like this. That is all for the good.

***If you never read another book, this one is not one to miss...something is about to change***

Pastor John Hagee writes, “something is about to change,” the subtitle of his new book, Four Blood Moons that releases Tuesday, October 8th. He explores the supernatural connection between the sun, moon and stars, several Jewish Feasts and NASA’s discovery of four blood moons known as “Tetrads.” He writes about their appearances, April 15 & Oct 8, 2014 and April 4 & Sept 28, 2015: Four Blood Moons and their meanings, in addition to the meaning of the complete solar eclipse on March 20, 2015.

Hagee begins with his 2012 arrival in Puyallup, WA to speak at Night to Honor Israel, sponsored by Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries and Christians United for Israel. Biltz asked if he had ever studied “…the sun, moon and stars as a source of prophetic revelation?” When Hagee said he hadn’t Biltz explained why he believed the skies were God’s method of speaking to the world although he believed “no one was listening.”

When Hagee returned home he began his research with Gen. 1:14 where God said the “lights in the heavens were to divide the day and night; and let them be for signs and seasons.” The Hebrew word for “sign” also translates as “signal.” …Full Review: www.examiner.com/list/four-blood-moon...

Pastor John Hagee has once again written a very thought provoking book that delves into Bible Prophesy that most people, non-Christian or Christian, have never heard about. From the very first page I found myself being drawn into it because not only is it an interesting subject for me as a Christian; I found Pastor Hagee's writing was very easy to understand. This is an in-depth study of a subject even life-long Christians find to be daunting yet I never once found myself having to stop and re-read something to understand what he was explaining. Before this book I had never heard of the Four Blood Moons and I have been in church my entire life.

Pastor Hagee lets you know in plain everyday language that what is going to come to pass shortly will place Israel into the limelight even more than ever. So many people through the years have tried to wipe them from the earth but this will never happen. Pastor Hagee goes into great detail not only using the Bible but also history books to prove his point.

If you are curious about the way things are going to play out in the Middle-East you need to pick up a copy of this. You may find this to be a tad frightening yet before you finish it you will know there is an answer to the coming Apocalypse and His name is Jesus, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Thank you Pastor Hagee for once again for sending out a warning for all to be ready when Jesus comes back.

This book provides perspectives from both historical and future prophetic fulfillment concerning the nation of Israel and the second coming of Jesus Christ. While Pastor John Hagee is careful not to set a date for Jesus' rapture of the church or His return to set up His Kingdom on earth, Pastor Hagee is nonetheless very informative in his treatment of the very rare occurrences of blood moon tetrads -- which is a series of four blood moons (or total lunar eclipses) in two consecutive years, two per year -- happening on Jewish feast days in history. While the occurrence of a blood moon tetrad is rare, it is even rarer to have a solar eclipse within the tetrad, and rarer still to have a blood moon tetrad that falls on Jewish Feast days. This has happened only three other times in the last 500 years and is set to occur again on the feasts of Passover and Tabernacles in 2014 and 2015. The projected blood moon tetrads for 2014 and 2015 point to something as yet unknown but comparatively very significant for the nation of Israel and the world as a whole. While no one but God can say with any certainty what significant historical event(s) related to Israel will occur in 2014-2015, John Hagee creates immense anticipation for the prophetic student that something really historic and prophetically significant will occur within the next two or three years. It is likely only in retrospect after 2015 that we will be able to discern what this prophetic significance is. I, for one, will be watching.

I won this book through GoodReads first read program.

I have always enjoyed books that look at what the Bible says will happen in the end of times and compares it to what is happening in the world today. Authors such as Joel Rosenberg and books like the Harbinger are similar. In the first 2/3 of the book Hagee covers what the Bible says about Israel and what will happen in the Middle East before Jesus comes back for the second time. He uses passages from Ezekiel, Joel, Mathew and Revelation. The final 1/3 of the book talks about the four red moons and what they mean. The four red moons have only happened to coincide with Jewish holidays three times previously. Each time major events have happened with the Jewish people. Another such time is happening in 2014 and 2015. Added to this is another 7 year period in the Jewish calendar which makes September of 2015 a scary and exciting time. This book coincides with The Harbinger which claims something major is going to happen on September 13th 2015. A quick fun read.

When I read an article about the Four Blood Moons I frankly didn't give it much consideration. I do believe the heavens declare the glory of the Lord (Ps. 19:1) but that's about as much credence as I gave to it. Then following the First Blood Moon (April 15) came the attacks of Hamas on Israel and shortly after the brutal attacks of ISIS on Iraqis Christians, I became more interested and decided to read John Hagee's book.

It's an interesting read. The Four Blood Moons are an unusual phenomena but I'm still uncertain they are the sign of powerful prophetic events unfolding. Yet, if they turn skeptic's attention toward God and draw believers closer to Christ, I commend the book. It certainly does FEEL as if we are living in a historic time and I do know God is ultimately in control and working His-story toward the fulfillment of His Divine plan and purpose.

I'm a sucker for Biblical prophecy and books on that topic and just recently read Four Blood Moons by John Hagee. I heard about it when Glenn Beck interviewed the fellow on his radio show. My expectations were high but I was very disappointed.

The book is a rambling 258-page rant pushing the pre-trib rapture heresy. The purported subjects of the chapters are misleading. The title of the first section of the book is "Signs in the heavens." A reasonable person would suppose since the topic of the book was blood moons in prophecy that maybe the author would start by talking about heavenly signs and how they relate to End Times prophecy.

Nope. It's a rant about how we should support Israel and send donations to Hagee's charity, Christians United for Israel. Later he touches on dispensational theology (another part of the pre-tribulation rapture heresy) which has nothing to do with signs in the heavens.

Section 2: The Spine of Prophecy, is an almost incoherent 100-some odd pages incorporating dispensationalism, numerology, personal recollections, and current events, none of which pertain to blood moons and most of which only apply to prophecy if you subscribe to the dispensationalist heresy. Few Biblical references are provided and they're all taken out of context (which is typical of dispensationalists.) I paid $15 for a book that advertised itself as being about blood moons and prophecy and what I got was 99% something else.

The author meanders on through the majority of the book, touching on all sorts of subjects including the demise of family farming in America and reminiscences of his childhood. None of it has anything to do with celestial signs or blood moons. (Although some of it does touch on the End Times, but always from a pre-trib point of view.) Eventually on page 171 he actually got to the point, defining what a blood moon was and how they were significant.

A blood moon is a lunar eclipse, which through atmospheric effects, makes the moon appear red. They are rare, but not terribly so. His interview seemed to make it appear that only three had happened in 500 years, which is untrue. They happen fairly regularly. His book made it clear he meant there were three times in 500 years they were aligned with Jewish festivals, in 1493, 1949-1950 and 1967-1968. He'd said in the interview they were lined up with watershed events in Jewish history, the expulsion from Spain in 1492, the formation of the State of Israel in 1948 and the liberation of Jerusalem in 1967. But his timetable is off, sometimes by as much as two years. This is typical of Hal Lindsey and the rest of the Pre-trib hysteria crowd. If the facts (or Bible verses) don't fit your theory, just wiggle them a bit and act like they do anyway.

The book was billed as setting out a schedule of imminent "blood moons" that are signs of significant events. He pointed out there are four more such moons coming up in 2014 and 2015 and therefore something significant is due to happen to Israel then. Those dates are:

April 15, 2014 on Passover

Octber 8, 2014 on the Feast of Tabernacles

April 4, 2015 on Passover and

September 28, 2015 on the Feast of Tabernacles

But he never said what was going to happen on or after those dates. Another web site is suggesting it'll be the pre-trib Rapture in 2015. (Although the Rapture has nothing to do with Israel and Hagee's theory says the blood moons are significant for things that happen to Israel, not Christians.)

If the topic of blood moons in prophecy interests you, don't bother with the book. I've already told you everything in it pertaining to the blood moons. The other 256 pages are just fluff and pre-trib rambling.

He doesn't actually give any evidence the blood moons are significant other than that they happen to align with Jewish feasts. And even when they have in the past, those dates were only tangentially connected to the events he claims were significant to the Jews.

A much more significant fact is that terrible things happen to the Jews on the 9th day of the month of Av, including their failure to enter the promised land, destruction of both temples, expulsion from England in 1290 and Spain in 1492 (although the blood moons he links to this event occurred in 1493.) Most ominously the gas chambers in Treblinka began operations on the 9th of Av. But Hagee spends exactly one page discussing this before moving on to hammer the pre-trib rapture theory some more.

Worse, after building up that the blood moons are prima facie evidence that something vitally significant is going to happen this year or next (although without providing any real evidence they actually indicate anything) he doesn't even bother to speculate what that event might be. It's like a watchman shouting, "Get ready!" Get ready for what? You ask. And he just shrugs. "I dunno. Just get ready."

But if Christ is coming to Rapture us away, what is there to get ready for? We can't even pack because we don't get to take luggage. He's urging us to become even more passive and unresisting than before even as the Enemy steps up their efforts against Christians and Western Civilization. The pre-tribulation rapture theory is a satanic heresy designed to lull Christians into a passive mindset and ease the coming of the Antichrist's kingdom. Don't be deceived!

I read this book today because my Dad is interested in the end times and I grew up with a healthy fear of barcodes on my right hand. I was not surprised by the content of the book which was contradictory and made wild leaps in logic. The author was quick to try to dispell any potential problems people would have with his book. He stated he was using the science of astronomy to predict the future and not astrology but by his own definition of astrology, that is what he is using. He rants for 180 pages about everything from Nazis to the economy before he actually begins the 12 or so pages about 4 full lunar eclipes which happen to fall on Jewish holidays. This should not come as a surprise to anyone since the Jewish calendar is a lunar one. Eventually stars and moons and planets line up...that is sort of how it all works. He used some interesting math to prove the bible's fondness for numbers and how events happen in groups of 490 years (after you subtract 15 years because God does what he wants when he wants). I will give him credit for not actually stating specific events will happen in the next 2 years, though. As any good psychic will tell you, it is good to be vague. So he gets 1 star for saying that in the next year and a bit, stuff will happen.

I mean I think we all need to read something like this to really understand what's at stake when the US turns it's back to God and Israel and the wrath and judgment to follow. We have two paths to chose from and one will lead to four more years of blessing from the Lord and delay his judgment of the earth or the one where we completely abandon God, his values, his Constitution, his people (Israel) and bring in socialism, communism, and anarchy and bring his judgment sooner and cause him to lift his blessing off of this great nation because we have forgotten him. The Kings in the North and South in Israel- they had a choice and they made their choice and reaped blessings or destruction. We have choice too..... It's up to the people to decide..... What will WE choose??

This is a non-fiction book that traces blood moons from the last 500 years starting in 1492.
When these moons occurred at the time of Jewish feasts significant changes have happened in
Jewish history.
Pastor Hagee believes that "Something is about to change" for Israel and the world with this latest Tetrad occurring in a Shemitah year.
I guess we will wait and see what happens ...

I did enjoy learning more about the Jewish people and their history.
Sad to say that I learned a couple of things that I never knew before ... like why the date for Kristallnacht was chosen, that was a shocker!
I do recommend this book to everyone, as a history lesson, if nothing else.

A good recap of the history of Israel and the Jewish people most of which I knew already. I was hoping for a bit more new information, but still worth reading.

"There will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars...Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a could with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your hears, because your redemption draws near." ~ Luke 21:25, 27-28

There are many such references found in the scripture about the signs appearing in the sky. This is not to be confused with astrology which is the worship of stars, which is occultic and pagan. People who make choices based on the stars are seeking guidance for their lives from things created rather than from the creator. This is a violation of the law of Almighty God. But using scripture references may in fact indicate something we might have been missing. Has God used signs in the sun, moon and stars as a gigantic billboard to announce big changes coming for Israel, Jerusalem and even the near future?

Pastor and author John Hagee takes an in depth look into just that simple question "Have you ever considered the sun, moon and stars in the study of prophecy?" In order to search for answers which he shares in the book Four Blood Moons, Pastor Hagee went directly to the Bible first for any possible connection that God used signs in the heavens to communicate plans when it came to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy and what he discovered offers us a chilling look into a big change coming in 2014-2015 that has never been predicted until this research. While the event is unclear the previous signs of the blood moons along with a total solar eclipse highlights significant and life changing events coupled with significant Jewish festivals and celebrations.

Consider this events from the past three Blood Moons in the last century:

Four "blood-red" total lunar eclipses will fall on Passover and Sukkot in 2014 and 2015, the same back-to-back occurrences at the time of 1492, 1949 and 1967. Those three dates were the most important dates in all of Israel's history!

There have been several Tetrads (four consecutive blood moons) since NASA first recorded their occurrences, but Tetrads linked to significant Jewish history have happened only three times in more than five hundred years. Just what is God trying to say to us and even more important are we listening and watching?

I received Four Blood Moons by John Hagee compliments of Worthy Publishing for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable one. Being a huge student of Bible prophecy, I was immediately drawn to other topics I have heard on the very same subject. The fourth series of Four Blood Moons is coming! They are extremely rare even by scientific standards. God is shouting to us, "Something big is about to happen!" What they are telling us is that God is getting ready to change the course of human history once again. He is preparing to display the next series of signs in the heavens. Are you ready? Are the members of your family ready? It's the greatest questions you will ever answer in this life! I highly recommend this book to any one who studies Bible Prophecy and rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Believe it or not, this was one of the very first non-fictional books I've read (or at least the first that I can even remember reading) and I have to say that because of this book, I'm pumped to read more non-fiction in the near future.

What I loved most about this book was that it not only cleared up a lot about the theories surrounding "The Four Blood Moons"... but furthermore included references to biblical extracts to help lay it all out even better for me.

I'm new to the whole biblical reading and after completing this book (in one sitting) - I was completely hooked on devouring more information. I've even found out that I have a new passion to actually learn more about hidden messages contained in the Holy Bible and that's a new course I'm leaning towards to help enrich my spiritual life.

Another aspect about this book that I simply loved was that although it contains a combination of spiritual and science related points... it's entirely easy to follow and amazingly simple to understand. I loved that in many cases the author makes personal notes about previous experiences and not only are these very interesting... it helps make this read feel more 'real' - which is so different to the usual fiction I've always read.

John Hagee is going onto my 'Author's to Follow' list and I'll definitely be reading more from this great author in the future.

I read this because of all the hype I have been hearing surrounding this Blood Moon Theory. I was not impressed. This book is mostly about end-times biblical prophecy and the history of the Jewish people. The stuff about the blood moons is left to the end of the book. Let me say at the start that I am a Christian who agrees with much of what is presented here. And much of it I already knew. I just don't buy the Blood Moon theory. At all. Pastor Hagee sums up the coming appearance of the current tetrad with this: Something is about to change. Yes, really, that is it. The author tries in vain to make his theory of the Blood Moon Tetrads line up with horrendous and amazing occurences in Jewish history, however, if you dig a little deeper you will find his methods unconvincing and inaccurate. This is not a personal attack on the author. I believe he is a sincere believer. But I was truly disappointed in this. I read this as a favor for a friend who admitted to not knowing much about the scriptures. So sad that Hagee makes so much money from people through his fear-mongering tactics. If you have read this book or are thinking about it consider this: Hagee does not speak for Christianity. In fact, he speaks for himself and writes books to make money. He is always talking about the future as though it is in the Bible, but people, it really is nothing like what he says. I encourage you to get a hold of (and to read) a copy of "Overcoming: a Study Guide to the book of Revelation" by Steve Singleton to at least do yourself the favor of having read something to balance out what you hear from extremist positions like Hagee. Please, in the name of Christ I beg you to do this before just jumping on the bandwagon of end-times interpretation with the likes of Hagee.

This is shameless self-promoting at its finest. If I wanted to see a rant backed by minimal scripture, then I would have sought out an online forum.
Additionally, if you are a member of the younger generation, I recommend that you spend your money on someone else who does not debase your entire age group. Citing all of this generation (including those who unwittingly purchased his book in hopes of learning more about end times prophecy) as depraved and immoral. He alienates all young Americans, all liberal individuals, and all individuals who think critically.
Not to mention that a brief analysis of the blood moons is not even hit upon (aside from the one scripture that you can read in your own Bible) until 3/4 of the way through the book.
This book isn't worth the money. You can learn just as much from surfing the web.

I would have given this negative stars if I could have! Total waste of time.

A member of my church ask me about the blood moons because she listens to Hagee and so I thought I would see what I could learn about them from his book.

This was written with one purpose in mind and that is to raise money and push his personal agenda. I found most this had nothing to do with prophecy or the role of blood moons but an attempt to create fear. While some of the match ups were in fact interesting I felt it was simply forcing them into the story while not dealing with the other parts or both scripture and the stars and moons.

This has made my WASTE OF TIME list!

I love this book. It is really well written. The most amazing thing is how engrossing it is once you start reading. The pages seem to turn themselves. I have learned more about Revelations than I would have believed possible from such a small book. Another thing that is wonderful about this book is that John Hagee actually cites the sources for all the information he uses so that anyone reading it can look the information up if he or she elects to do so.

After reading this book, I am convinced that something monumental is coming. Something is indeed about to change.

Televangelist John Hagee's book mixes unyielding Zionism, fundamentalist apocalyptic prophecy, and "reading the signs in the heavens" (in other words, Christian astrology). Any facts Hagee presents are coincidental and contribute to a flamboyant deception. I was able to finish reading Four Blood Moons through entertainment and morbid curiosity, so it wasn't a complete waste of my time.
I will give Hagee a mild compliment for his willingness to criticize Martin Luther, but I could have found that criticism elsewhere.
