Emily in Paris meets Friends in this humorous and heartfelt new novel about the power of friendship and the bonds of your chosen family by International Bestselling Author Ava Miles.
Thea Rogers’ life is nothing like her romantic, elegant pastries. It’s more like a dull, dry rice cake.
Since spending that magical year in Paris in a work-study program at Nanine Laurent’s restaurant ten years ago, she’s been determined to create a delicious life for herself. But without that certain je ne sais quoi of the City of Lights and the support of her five Paris roommates, Thea’s lost sight of her dream of opening her own boulangerie. Worst yet, she’s lost sight of herself. Still, she puts on her sunshine persona, sticks another batch of croissants in the oven, and gets through each day—an overworked, underpaid baker living life through Netflix.
Then she gets the call that everyone her beloved Nanine has fallen ill.
Thea knows what she needs to go back to Paris. With the help of her roommates, they can get Nanine and her troubled restaurant back on their feet.
What she doesn’t her former roommates can see she needs help too. They might be the unlikeliest of friends, totally different from her and from each other, but they see her—more than her own flesh and blood. They always have her back, and while they assist their host mother with her restaurant, they cluster around plain Jane Thea to give her the makeover of her life. New clothes and hair are definitely on the menu, particularly after Thea meets “Mr. Pinstripes,” Nanine’s gorgeous lawyer.
Only real-life intrudes on her fairy tale when Thea’s finally offered her ownership of a bakery back in Small Town, USA. She would have to leave her found family and the man she’s fallen in love with. Will she choose the security of what she knows? Or dare to dream even bigger than she has before?
Reinvention, rediscovery, and romance… Meet THE PARIS ROOMMATES. The good-girl baker Thea Rogers. The restless dreamer Dean Harris. The driven fashion writer Brooke Adams. The charismatic professor Dr. Sawyer Jackson. The rebel Chef Madison Garcia. The disillusioned golden boy restaurateur Kyle Taylor.

Not only that, but there’s also a really sweet love story so whether you read women’s fiction or romance, this one will be enjoyable! The characters are amazing, the setting is PERFECT for an escape, and the way all these people come together and figure out their lives in the process is fantastic. I can’t wait to read more from Ava Miles because this one was great!
I’m new to this author’s books but was kindly sent a digital copy of this one by the author and Rick to read and review.
The Paris Roommates is a story of 6 prior roommates who return to Paris in their late 20s (some early 30s) in order to help their old mentor, a restauranteur after she is laid up in hospital. All are bringing their different skill sets and experience with the aim of helping her heal, whilst they run her restaurant until she is able to. They do not figure upon a dilapidated restaurant and a sad tale of how it came to be.
The Paris Roommates, it appears, is the first book in a series so you get a lot of background on each of the main characters (each referred to as a Course ie First Course). This book is about pastry chef Thea who is in a rut, and feels as if she’s marking time in her life, and not living out her dreams. She seizes the opportunity to live in Paris.
This book is particularly sunshiney and rainbow-ish in its approach to life, that everything will turn out wonderfully in the end with a little love and good intentions. It’s a meandering, gentle book where even the unfortunate can be fortunate in some way, particularly if they have five friends like roommates to come to the rescue with their love and deep pockets. As far as romance goes, there’s a first kiss, and some more kisses and the promise of love in an Insta-love kind of way, without the fervour one expects of insta-lovey interactions, and more of a schoolgirl blushy crush situation.
For me, Thea is depicted as extremely immature, and after being coddled and dictated to by her family, jumps into another situation where she is coddled and dictated to by the Roommates. They just do it in a nicer way. And she had a makeover, and her new beau doesn’t think she has big feet (major plot device there).
I think there are readers who will love this wholesome, found family contemporary fiction read. For my preferred reading choices it lacked the special something (maybe in the romance department or the plot about the restaurant and the wrong do-ers) that if these were areas of more significant focus, would have sold this a little more to me.
* Thankyou to Rick and the author for a copy of this ARC!
"I don't know where I am going, but I am on my way."
This was such a cute read!
It was the perfect combination of Friends and Emily in Paris vibes. I loved that it had multiple POVs, even though most of it revolved around one character. I'm assuming it's going to be the start of a series?
I loved all the restaurant/food scenes and really enjoyed learning about how each character related in their own way to helping Nanine and the restaurant!
"Unlikely friends can stay forever friends."
You get: • Found family • Friends vibes • Insta love • Soul mates • Matchmaker • Innocent cohabitation • Character growth • Baked goods
I found myself struggling with the communication between the characters, I found it to be a bit forced and unrealistic. Overall, I still found this a great, fluffy read! I would recommend for a good palette cleanser!
"You have something precious inside you, something others have lost and wish to regain. Innocence. Awe. In this world where we are so self-focused and so cynical, you still see the beauty of life and share it in your smile and the light in your eyes. I hope you know how special that is. How special you are."
First of all I want to say thank you to Rick and the lovely author for sending an ARC copy of this book.
What a cute love story. If you’re into a clean and very sweet romance then this if for you.
The Paris Roommates is the beginning of a new series for this author, It’s a story about 6 people who were former roommates returning to Paris once older to help the person who was a mentor to them when she ends up in hospital. They come together to figure out how to run her restaurant whilst she’s down. The author goes into detail about each former roommate giving us the backstory of them all.
There were parts in the story when I found myself loosing interest and skimming pages. I found it lacking in some places but good in others but overall it was fun read.
This book is based around friendship with found family vibes and a lot of character growth. It’s a slow burn, insta love kinda read with lots of friendly banter.
This authors writing is so good and I can’t wait to see what’s to come from the other books in this series.
Thank you to Rick and the author for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
If you are into clean, sugary-sweet romances that take place in a romantic setting, then I think you’ll enjoy this book! I found it difficult to get into, but admittedly it’s not my usual genre. Being titled, “The Paris Roommates”, and having multiple characters’ POVs, it was difficult to discern that Thea was the main character in this story. And while I was looking forward to seeing the roommates’ interactions with each other being in a small space for the first time in several years, nothing really panned out the way I expected it to.
This story was a little too perfect for me – sure, Nanine had a heart attack and that’s why they’re all there, but somehow almost each character has a life they can be indefinitely absent from and a bottomless source of money to cover all expenses. While Thea, the main character, doesn’t have the same luxuries, her friends are more than willing to fund a Paris makeover and long-term investment in her to get her to stay in the city permanently. She falls in love with the perfect Frenchman and…it just all was a little too perfect and cookie cutter for me.
If you enjoy clean romances, a classic Paris setting and a storyline that centers around a strong set of found family, I think you’ll enjoy this book.
The Paris Roommates was my first book by Ava Miles. This was just OK for me.
Since it’s the first in a series, we get introduced to multiple characters (6) by their course name, Thea: First Course - the apéritif , Dean: Second Course - the entree, course 2 - and so on. This was cheeky at first, but got to be too much as the story went. Also, with so many characters, I didn’t feel like I really connected to anyone other than Thea. (But this book is based on her sooo)
I’m also not the biggest fan of insta love; so suspending reality is a must for this one. The love story was therefore lost on me, err, and making a big life decision for a man you barely know was hard to get behind, but heck it’s a story so why not.
If you are looking for a feel good story, found family, a supportive group of friends, baking, and all things Paris, this book would probably work for you.
"There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship"
𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿: A heartwarming book
𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: A group of friends who have become family who come together to help their mentor and friend in a time of great need.
An uncharacteristically kind FMC who moves through life giving so much to those around her usually at the expense of herself
An exceptionally good looking French man who swoops in and sweeps our FMC off her feet.
𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: This book left my heart feeling 4 sizes bigger! A story about friendship and a reminder that family doesn’t always mean blood related. Our FMC is on a journey of self discovery and self love. I found Thea to be a relatable character in her need to help others over herself and her own dreams.
Warning this book will also leave you hungry and planning a trip to a bakery at your earliest opportunity
This is the found family trope at its finest. The relationship between the roommates and Nanine is a family one. It’s like she is the mother of all six children. And they definitely treat each other as siblings who would do anything for each other, but not without a bit of teasing.
Thea has to build some confidence so she can fight for her dreams and even find love in Paris, but she has a lot to learn. Thankfully she is in the right place with right people to do that.
Reading this book made me feel a lot of things and I enjoyed getting to know all of these characters. If you’re a fan of the found family trope, you’ll probably really enjoy it.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you are in your Emily in Paris era and love found family, this book is for you! This book is marketed as Emily in Paris meets Friends and it definitely gives off those vibes. This book has multiple POV’s and I loved the character development that each character went through! Plus, you can’t beat the setting of this book. Thank you to the author and Hambright PR for the gifted copy of this book.
The Paris Roommates is the newest release from Ava Miles with a group of friends becoming each other’s family and a sweet romance that I really enjoyed!
Years ago, six strangers came to Paris for a year long work-study program at Nanine’s restaurant and became the best of friends with Nanine as their mother figure. Now, they all have their own lives in America, but when they get a call that their beloved Nanine had a heart attack, they all once again come together back to Paris to help Nanine and her restaurant. But being back in Paris makes their memories of that magical year and how happy they all were resurface and they begin to question whether returning to their lives in America is the correct choice to make, especially when Thea, the 'sweetheart’ of the group, falls in love for the first time in her life in the City of Love.
I really liked the idea of this story and how all the characters were three-dimensional, there are multiple POVs in this book and I must say every single POV was well written and interesting to read, I liked getting to know Thea, Brooke, Dean, Kyle, Sawyer, Madison, Nanine and Jean Luc. I loved how all the roommates loved and always supported each other, especially when someone needed help. They really took care of Nanine and her restaurant and helped Thea see who she really is and make her dreams come true, it was amazing to see the beautiful family they all made. Thea and Jean Luc made a cute couple and their romance was really sweet, but I kind of felt like their relationship was lacking something at times. They had really great communication despite a few funny misunderstandings, due to speaking different languages, that made me laugh out loud.
The Paris Roommates is a really great read with an amazing cast of characters and interesting plot that I really liked and recommend to everyone who enjoys this kind of stories!
Wow! I love Ava Miles books and this book which is the start of the Paris Roommates series is just the book I needed. Full of hope, love, found family, food, Paris, and creating the life of your dreams reading it is like spending time with the people you love. It is a warm hug and made me feel all the feels and left my heart happy and my soul feeling content. Paris is the ideal setting for the story as it is a haven for lovers of food, wine, and love. A decade ago six very different people spent a year living and working with Nanine. During that time they learned a lot about each other and became a family. Now they are back together to help Nanine recover after an illness and a devastating loss. Each member of the group is at a crossroads in their life and being back together in Paris is just what they need. This series is about their return to Paris and their journey to create the lives of their dreams. This first book is about Thea, the sweet, kind, little sister of the group who is a talented baker. Thea is finally stepping out of her comfort zone to create the self and life that she dreamed of. But will she have to give up all she has in Paris and return to her empty life in Nowheresville to attain her career goals? The respect, love, and caring the roommates have for each other is something not seen often enough and I wish I was a part of their group. Each character is well developed and I am enjoying learning more about them. Thea’s notebook with her recipes for life is something that I am going to add to my journaling for inspiration. I am loving this series and can’t wait to read the next book about the roommates. I highly recommend this book!
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Paris Roommates: Thea was such a lovely read! I’ve always loved books about found families, and this one really hit that spot. In this story, six former roommates come back together in Paris to help their mentor. It felt so comforting, like slipping back into a group of friends you haven’t seen in years but can pick right back up with.
Thea’s story really spoke to me because she’s such a people-pleaser and always putting everyone else first while leaving her own dreams on the back burner. It was fabulous to see her friends recognize that and push her to start thinking about what she wants for once. The whole “Operation Thea” makeover was hilarious and it showed how much her roommates genuinely love her.
And then there’s Jean Luc, or as the roommates call him, “Mr. Pinstripes.” He’s not flashy or over the top, but that’s what made him so perfect for Thea. He’s steady, kind, and sees her for who she really is, which made their romance feel really sweet. It’s not a wild, dramatic love story- the insta-attraction is softer, and I thought that worked well for Thea’s character.
I really liked learning the backstory of all the roommates. They were such a fun mix of personalities, and their banter gave the book so much life. Plus, the Paris setting just tied it all together with the food, the restaurants, and the little details about the city, it really felt like an escape.
If you like stories with strong friendship vibes, genuine character growth, and a sweet, clean romance, this one’s a great pick. It left me smiling and ready to jump into Dean's book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Paris Roommates by Ava Miles was my first book by this author, and I will certainly be reading her other books now! I love books with themes of found family and friendship, and this one was just perfect!
10 years ago, Thea was part of a work-study program in Paris at a restaurant owned by Nanine Laurent, along with five others (Dean, Brooke, Sawyer, Madison, and Kyle). Fast forward to the present day, and Thea is working as an underpaid baker. When she gets the call that Nanine has fallen ill, Thea and the rest of the Paris roommates come together to try to save Nanine’s failing restaurant. On top of saving the restaurant, the Paris roommates have their eyes set on helping Thea recreate herself and in the process, find herself and also find love.
I just loved how the six roommates, all with such different personalities, all came together for one another. I just adored Thea and her character, and loved how romance was intertwined into the story with ‘Mr. Pinstripes.’ This was such a fun and heartwarming book, and one I highly suggest you read! Grab a croissant and cozy up to read this one!

As they help Nanine get back on her feet, each of the roommates must figure out their own life priorities. The story focuses on the young and innocent Thea, the baker of the group, who has struggled to find herself since leaving Paris. As the roommates help Thea to build her confidence and figure out her dreams - and to look gorgeous for her date with the handsome Mr. Pinstripes - we see the depths of their friendship and their love for each other in this very sweet story.

This was a very sweet story, and I really enjoyed each of the roommates as individual characters and as a group. The Paris setting was a lot of fun. I thought the romance was a little bit too quick, and some of the dialogue was a little flat, but otherwise I really enjoyed reading this. I was hoping for more resolution to the restaurant storyline but maybe that will come in future stories. This is the first book in a series, each book focusing on one of the six roommates. I’m looking forward to reading more about this group!
I loved this book so much. It is very character driven. Ava writes each of the characters with great care that you can't help but instantly fall in love with them all. Friendship is very important as the gang learns and values.
While Nanine does not appear much in the story, she is mentioned a lot. You can tell from the way that everyone talks about her that she is loved, and she made a great impression on each of them. I love the way that Nanine described each of the roommates:
Thea is first course designed to set the course of the meal Dean is second course created to be the entry point into the mean Brooke is third course, the main course Sawyer is fourth course cleanses the palate for more inspiration to come Madison is fifth course she embodies so many strong flavors Kyle is sixth course an indulgence
I really liked Sawyer. He was always ready to hear the tea. Then there is that scene where Brooke and Madison take Thea to the lingerie shop for Operation Thea makeover for her date with Jean Luc. Who turned out to be a really nice guy. He has to be if he did not run off scare after being grilled by Thea's roommates. Finally, how about Madison and Kyle's kiss!
I will be continuing this series. Looking forward to reading Dean's book. He was the quiet one and I want to get to know him better.
This story was the perfect combination of Friends meets Emily in Paris! I absolutely ADORED this friend group. Each character is unique and at first you wouldn’t think they would be friends, but they seriously had the best friendship.
I loved how fiercely protective they were of each other. They are all back in Paris under unfortunate circumstances but it’s exactly what they each needed. They are each struggling in their own way but together they don’t feel so lost.
For this book, Thea, the youngest of the group, is feeling lost after getting fired from her baking job back in the states. Now she has to find herself in the city of love. With the help of her roommates Thea is able to flourish and meet certain special someone!
📚📚📚 This is my second read by Ava Miles and I’m seriously so in love with it! Just such feel good vibes and a book that just makes you happy. The group of friends in this book is everything and I really enjoyed learning about all of them! Our FMC is the kindest character and just always there for everyone even if it might be at the expense of herself. We end up meeting the hot Frenchman who swoops in and loves our FMC the way she deserves! The character development throughout was amazing for literally every character! I can’t wait to dive into the rest of this series.
Definitely recommend this one if you need some feel good vibes!

The Paris Roomates: Thea “A Shy Girl Daring to Dream”
This book best compares to Emily in Paris meets Friends! It was truly enjoyable and I loved the group of friends vibe with all the Paris charm!! I enjoy Ava Miles books a lot, she has a way of writing characters that truly embody the story and are so likable. The Paris Roommates is a series about 6 roommates who each participated in a work study program in Paris at a prestigious French restaurant for a year. During that time they were all roommates and now have come back to Paris years later.
I enjoyed Thea’s story. Thea is shy and timid, but an excellent pastry chef. It was lovely to see her journey towards happiness and achieving her dreams and the Paris backdrop didn’t hurt a thing 😉. I recommend this book, and look forward to reading more of the series! There is some mild language and no spice.

Thank you @hambright_pr and @avamiles for the #gifted book
This is book one in a series which follows six friends that were roommates ten years ago in Paris. When their mentor/mother figure Nanine falls ill, they all return to Paris to help her. They also find her restaurant has been gutted and vow to help her restore her restaurant back to its former beauty. We learn about all of the courses (this is what Nanine calls them) but the story is centered around the first course Thea.
Thea is a baker working for the town bakery but she dreams of owning her own bakery. She is taken advantage by her employer and her family. The other friends rally around the naive Thea and give her a head to toe makeover. Thea falls for Jean Luc (pinstripes) who is Nanine's lawyer. This a clean romance and the friends protect Thea. Thea is faced with a big decision involving her future and I loved how the friends gave her the confidence to follow her dreams.
I didn't want this story to end. The friends are all at different crossroads in their lives. They are found family and I loved their banter and growth through the story. Even though this story is based around Thea, I feel like I know all the other characters. This is my first book by Ava Miles and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Ten years ago, six people from different places and backgrounds all came together for a work-study program at Nanie Laurent’s restaurant. Thea has lost sight of opening her own bakery, and even worse, she’s lost sight of herself. However, she puts her feelings aside and makes it through each day.
When she gets called back to Paris because Nanine is sick, she is excited to get her restaurant back in tip-top shape. What she doesn’t realize is all of her old roommates are struggling, and this could be just what they all need. Can they work together and realize their dreams?
I really enjoyed Thea from this book. Her character was well developed and written. Most of the book was told from her point of view, but we occasionally got glimpses into the other characters as well. I loved how the other characters banded together to help her find her true love, but the pairing was a little unconvincing. I still enjoyed the story, but this part of it did fall a little flat for me. I think that with all the characters the author did a good job of setting them up to each have their own book.
Thank you so much to @Rick_283 and the author for providing me with this ARC copy. All opinions are my own.
When I was growing up, my mom almost always had a Danielle Steel book in hand. After she passed, I decided to read a few and see what they were all about. And they were good. One thing that always stood out for me was that they almost always had a setting somewhere in Europe.
The Paris Roommates reminds me so much of Danielle Steel's books, but a more contemporary take on it! Ava Miles has a beautiful way with words, I feel as if I'm there in Paris, living my best life.
Thea's life in Des Moines is dull. Sure, she loves baking and she loves her customers, but it's heading nowhere. So when she gets the chance to go back to Paris to visit Nanine after she falls ill, there's no second-guessing what she will do. Paris holds everything dear for her: her five old Paris roommates and a chance to find love and a better life.
Though this book focuses on Thea, I loved that there were multiple POVs, almost as if I was watching a TV show and getting different views of the main character. The fact that six people band together ten years later to take care of Nanine and her business was such a thrill to read!
I cannot wait to step into Dean's shoes and later everyone else! Man, I love Paris.
Don’t walk—run to add Ava Miles’ The Paris Roommates to your TBR list, or better yet, grab a copy now and dive in!
This book is simply amazing! It’s all about friendship, found family, and the warmth of genuine connection. The Paris Roommates celebrates the bonds that go beyond blood, showing how friendships can become just as strong as family ties. This is a multi-POV story where Dean, Brooke, Sawyer, Madison, and Kyle each bring depth and warmth, making the characters feel vibrantly alive.
The story follows Thea, a pastry chef who spent time in Paris and built lasting friendships with her roommates. Be prepared for cravings—you’ll be yearning for pastries and dreaming of a trip to Paris to savor the creations of real pastry chefs.
Thea is relatable, compassionate, and always there to help, on her own journey of self-discovery, learning to love herself, and strengthening her bonds with friends.
This book is a feel-good read that hits all the right notes. It’ll leave you smiling and filled with warmth from all the love that fills these pages. While there’s a little romance, this is a wholesome story at heart.
Quote:📖 I don’t know where I am going, but I am on my way.
Thoughts: 💡 This is a cute story. The friendships are all really sweet. I enjoyed the look at Parasian culture and all the interesting metaphors. It was kind of interesting to see all the different POVs of the characters because they all had their own struggles. It did make the story slow to start though because each was crafted with explicit care. If you like sappy slow burns with a twist of humor and lots of side characters than this is the book for you.
Writing Mechanics: ✍️ The writing flowed well and the way the author described things was interesting and fun. The plot was pretty simple, but the character development was extensive so it brought an interesting level of complexity to the story.

This was an adorable read by Ava Miles. Paris has never really been on my bucket list, but after reading this all I want to do is travel there, drink coffee, champagne && eat bread. It was a dreamy kind of book.
10 years ago, 6 strangers came to Paris && lived together for a work-study program. All for different reasons. They were allowed free room && board in exchange for working in Nanine’s restaurant. They all became best friends, but after the year went back to their lives back in the states. Now, in a time of need, Nanine has called all her courses back to Paris.
This was written in third person, but in a way that there were still multiple POVs which I enjoyed. I loved getting to know Thea, Brooke, Dean, Sawyer, Madison && Kyle. They each brought something fresh to the book. This was a story about friendship && found family, with a little romance in there as well. I honestly hope we get to see more from these roommates. The way they constantly went above && beyond for each other was amazing. It was just such a cute read && I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something different!
This is my first read from Ava Miles, and it was a pleasant surprise. The Paris Rommates is a story of friendship, love, and found family. It's the perfect time of year to read this story. I got a few Emily in Paris vibes from this story, so you'll enjoy this one if you're a fan of the show! I have never been to Paris, so I enjoyed how descriptive the author was and imagined I was a part of the friend group, going to restaurants and parties and just having fun!
The story unfolds after six friends return to Paris to support their mentor, who's in the hospital. Readers get introduced to many characters, so it was a bit confusing for me at first to keep track of them all. The story is sweet and fun and filled with love and emotion. Everyone has good intentions and cares for one another. I valued the strong friendship between each character. Thea is the main focus of this story, and her life unfolds after she meets her match in Paris. There is that insta-love connection which is a bit unrealistic for me, but I'm still a sucker for that wholesome romance. Overall, it was a good read, and I will continue with the series.
The smell of baked goods permeated the air as she walked down the bustling sidewalk. Paris was alive underneath the glorious sunshine and she felt a lightness in her step today. Life was finally falling into place for her.
The Paris Roommates is a romance following a group of six friends who return to Paris to help an ill friend get her troubled restaurant back on its feet. This primarily focuses on the character, Thea, but told from the POVs of all the friends.
This is pitched as Friends meets Emily in Paris and it truly does have those vibes. The found family and friendship aspect of this story was so sweet and was genuinely my favorite part… plus the Paris setting! The romance was insta-love, which is not my favorite and I didn’t truly feel that connection, but I can see how others will love the relationship.
If you love books set in Paris, food references, books that explore friendships, and the tropes: found family, insta-love, soulmates… then you’ll enjoy the start to this new series by Ava!
10 years ago 6 Americans spent a year in Paris as roommates, working in a restaurant. They became good friends with each other and the owner of the restaurant. Now said owner has asked them for help and they all reunite in Paris... This book features mainly Thea, a rather shy baker who has blossomed in Paris 10 years ago but after returning to the U.S. fell back into an unfulfilling life full of work and not much else. With the help of her former roommates she finds herself and her true love.
I enjoyed reading this story and I liked all the characters of the roommates (who will probably all get their own book). While I enjoyed reading about all the different roommates and what happened to Nanine's restaurant I felt Theas and Jean-Lucs love story was a bit unconvincing. Still I liked the story and will definitely look out for the stories of the other roommates.
I received an ARC via Netgalley.com and am voluntarily leaving a review.
At first I thought it was cute calling the characters by dinner courses that they were apparently similar to, but not far in it got too much. I also found it really annoying that although there were ‘problems’ in the story, everything and everyone was so perfect - of course they could do a makeover on Thea, of course she didn’t have the money and the rest of them paid, of course the menu that they came up with was perfect, of course the drawings of the new restaurant were perfect and on and on it went. I mean what are the chances of calling 6 or 7 people who live overseas and they just all drop what they are doing and fly to another country straight away, even quitting their job to do so? I can see this being the first book in a series where there is a book focusing on each of the courses. Despite only giving it 3 stars because it was too unrealistic, if I do come across another book in this series, I will probably read it because of the setting in Paris.
Ava Miles wrote such an enjoyable feel-good story. It's the kind of novel that makes you want to call up your old closest pals and plan a girls' weekend away with a bottle of champagne.
Ten years ago, six strangers came to Paris and end up living together for a work-study program. They were allowed free room and board in exchange for working in Nanine’s restaurant. They all became best friends, but after the year ended they all went back to their regular lives back in the states. Now, in a time of great need, Nanine has called them all back to Paris.
This book has a The Breakfast Club meets Friends meets Emily in Paris vibe that melted my heart and made me nostalgic for my own past friendships. This was a story about friendship, family, and a little romance thrown in for good measure.
Thank you to Ava Miles and Rick for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
