As a pro-cheerleader, dating a football player is forbidden- so there’s no way I’m telling anybody I drunkenly married one in Vegas. One night of fun turns into a morning of regret when I wake up hungover, fully clothed, and next to muscle-bound wide receiver Ty Matthews… and a phone full of evidence of our Elvis ordained nuptials. Talk about bad I can be kicked off the team for talking to a football player, much less marrying one. But after a night of spilling my darkest secrets, even playboy Ty knows exactly how to persuade me to stay married to him— he promises to fund my small business dreams if I convince his parents we’re together. Our so-called agreement is already off to a crazy I don’t want to lose my coveted spot on the cheer team, and we have to work to keep it a secret from almost everyone. Just when I start to think I can have it the money for my business, cheering for a pro-football team, and even an accidental husband who treats me like gold… the cracks begin to show. I don’t just stand to lose my spot on the team, either, because losing Ty Matthews might break my whole heart.
Sooooo I wrote my thoughts while reading and I'm not doing this multitasking thing again!!! 😂 It wasn't fun hahaha! Note to self, this will be your last reading while reviewing attempt 😭🤣
Book info: - No cheating / opd / 3rd act breakup - Eating disorder - Body dysmorphia - Panic attacks - Anxiety - Secret Vegas wedding - Forbidden relationship (no fraternization between players & cheerleaders) - Non-virgin MCs (H-manhoe , h- limited dating expi) - Sports romance (Football)
------------------
Random thoughts below, and they are very much unorganized 😅
- I didn't understand the infatuation of Ty with Savannah. He saw her, got interested immediately (insta-lust btw) then at the end of the chapter they were having fun, and the next thing they were married. And, he doesn't want to let her go, cuz according to him, he get whatever he wants and he wanted her. I mean why dude? What was so different about her that at the same night you met her, you've decided she was the one? Seriously, I don't get it.
- Wow! Not so cool, Ty! Using her insecurity about not knowing how to feel sexy just for her to stay married? This jerk told her that he could teach her how to be sexy cuz he has a lot of experience when it comes to sex (*gags* manwhore *gags*). And this suggestion only made Savannah felt more insecure, cuz in her head, Ty indirectly agrees that she's not sexy and she needed help in this department.
- Even after they got married, his usual hook-ups still texts him, but he didn't feel answering 🙄 Because he wanted to convince Savannah to be with him. If he really wanted to step away from his manwhore ways and show Savannah that he's serious, shouldn't he start by blocking those numbers?
- I don't understand why he agreed to her no sex rule, when all he ever do is seduce her into sleeping with him. He's using the fact the she goes putty in his arms and I don't know how to feel about this.
- Ugh, do I have to be reminded every other chapter about the women he slept with??? Like fuck! I can't even get over the fact that he's a shameless manwhore, which I'm trying so hard btw, but the constant reminders are really making it so impossible.
- It was adorable how he kept a football signed by the kids he helped when he was in college, and that whenever he's frustrated he would look at that football and he would be reminded how lucky and grateful he is for what he has achieved life.
- I'm so proud of Savannah for telling him to talk to someone and he actually did. Also, nice that she got a backbone in this scene and walked away knowing her worth.
- I'm confused with the timeline, @47% I think they're married for only a month or maybe six weeks, but then Ty said he hasn't been to any club since meeting her. And then he realized that he hasn't been to any club and doing all the things he used to do for MONTHS?? So does that mean he has never been with women before they met?? Because in chapter one they were in Vegas to party and in Ty's monologue, to pick up a woman or women for the night. And his friend also confirmed that he has different women every week and he didn't deny it, he actually laughed about it like he was so proud he get to have many women. So was he already celibate for awhile before meeting Savannah? Or is it just the confusing timeline how long they were married?? Idk anymore.
- It's cute how he was so eager for her to call and that he drove to her so fast because she was crying. It's even cuter that he allowed her to do a skin care routine for him. That he let her still have her girl's night (even after her best friend left) and even went willingly to be her pet project.
- She asked for a condom and he asked if she's in birth control. Then she went with what he wanted, which was to do it bare. I mean he said he's clean, but knowing his reputation, don't you think Savannah you owe it to yourself to be the responsible one?? This actually made me icky and kind of grossing me out.
- Welp, that love bomb was cringey. It felt forced and came out of nowhere.
- Seriously, he can be sweet when he really wanted to. He sent a cleaning team to help Savannah with the mess they made. Sent her a bouquet with one of each flower cuz he didn't know her favorite. And he scheduled a hair appointment because her supposed girl's night was an epic fail. Sent her a desk with an ergonomic chair and everything she needed for her business. He hired a private chef for her, cuz he's worried she's not eating enough. Oh and he always sends her sushi because it's her favorite. This guy is definitely sweet and thoughtful, I have to give credit for that.
- He dropped the love bomb around 50%, her on the other hand was around 85%. But in all fairness, she put so much effort and preparations for her confession and it was so swoony ❤️
- That grand gesture at the end was so freaking comical but sweet at the same time
- Loooooved the positive view on therapy and how they were both doing their own sessions.
------------------
This is an okay book. It has good moments but I think the issue with his parents was never addressed at all. Ty goes to therapy but he never once confronted his family and I think he should've done that. They were the reason for his insecurities, not that they're awful people mind you, but sometimes their comments have a different effect on Ty and these barbs made a lasting negative impact on his mental and emotional wellbeing.
It was said that Ty and Savannah have serious conversations, but it was glossed over and didn't really happened on page. I would've wanted to read some of those scenes most especially when they talked about important and meaningful things. Another thing is, I didn't feel the emotional connection between the MCs. Lust? Sure, their spicy scenes were good, can't deny that. But the emotional pull between them? Not so much, it was actually meh, but that can be a me case, idk. 🤷♀️
Overall, this is sweet, cheesefest, and cringefest (at times) but the constant reminder that he's a manwhore could've been toned down a little bit, imo. Still enjoyed it, but I liked the first book better.

A pro football player x professional cheerleader, accidental Vegas marriage, forbidden romance where he falls first, and there's no third-act breakup??? Sign me up!
Ever since reading Against The Clock (Book One in the Wilmington Football series) I’ve been literally dying to read Savnnah and Tyler’s story and it did not disappoint! Against the Rules was fast-paced and was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy.
I absolutely loved Tyler and Savannah’s story! The connection between these two was instant and even though they tried to deny it for a bit they couldn't stay away from one another! I really felt for Savannah, she was the sweetest soul and I just wanted to protect her at all costs! Tyler was the most perfect golden retriever MMC and the way he cared for and looked after Sav was out of this world amazing, that man wasn’t afraid to give his girl everything she needed and so much more. I’m normally not one for Insta Love in books but when it's written right I absolutely love it and this was the perfect example of that!
I loved the premise of this book but the execution didn't work for me. I was buddy reading this one with Robin (@paperbacksandplanners) and both of us just kind of felt really meh about it on the whole. Savannah is cute but I definitely got more confidence from the little slices we saw of her in book one. I liked Tyler's character but the repetitiveness of "we got accidentally married" and "this is an arrangement where she helps me with my parents and I'll give her money for her business and sexy lessons" was too much for me in the first 20%.
Thank you to Brittany and her team for the ARC! It was such a pleasure to read this book 💕
I found this book to be absolutely adorable with so many moments that made me laugh (insert spa scene). The instant attraction that these two had for each other destined them for their shotgun wedding in Vegas beautifully. Upon realizing what happened, Tyler realizes that he needs to keep Savannah in his life, made easier by the fact that they both work for the same football team, by offering up his help in anyway he can. This results in him becoming a silent partner of sorts for her new business, as well as her “sexy” coach for her dancing. 😈
This book has all the fun tropes in it: - forced proximity - instant attraction - friends to lovers - reformed playboy - “teacher” - golden retriever/ sunshine vibes - praise 🧨
The way he steps up in order to show Savannah that he means business, as well as his family that he’s not the mess up that they consistently think he is, was great. Also the way he gets possessive, “my wife” 🥵 like thank youuu very much.
I just finished reading my ARC and I could not put it down. I read it one day. love the story of Tyler and Savannah. The plot was engaging and their experiences are relatable in real life. I also found a new book boyfriend in Tyler Matthews. Also you can’t go wrong with 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. If you love forbidden romance, where he falls first and marriage of convenience. This book is a must for you.
First off, thank you to Brittany and her team for the ARC copy, I appreciate it. What I like of Brittany's books is the lightness you get by reading them. There are a lot of chapters, but most of them short, that you don't even realize when you finish it until you do.
Tyler had my heart from the previous book, more in all, because normally when you see someone that you see as a player and/or a goofball, it means there is more underneath all. I can totally relate with all the comparations you get with siblings. There is always a little competition, no matter if you're the oldest or the youngest. The fact that he accepted he needed help and went look for it, talks a lot of a maturity not everyone has, because even when someone says they want people to not "bullshit" them, they don't always accept what was said and go seek the help they need.
Savannah's journey was something I can relate so much. You so desperately want to do something you like and makes you happy, but at the same time trapped somewhere you feel you need to be. One thing that is more true than anything in this is, if where you are not only makes you unhappy but it starts affecting you physical and mental health, go away and get help. Nothing is worth the struggle that getting over those issue are.
They relationship, even if it started by accident, evolved into something so sickening cute and loving, I could not get enough. They way they supported each other and had each other's back, is not something you can't sadly easily find. They called each other out, taking into consideration how they may make the other feel and not trying to discredit their feelings.
In all honesty, I found it a cute, short story I truly enjoyed reading. So if you're into that, give the book a change.
Forbidden lovers because they got married in Vegas after knowing each other a handful of hours only to find out they cheer/play ball for the same pro football team and fraternization is absolutely forbidden in the cheer hand book? A recipe for a romance methinks.
Y'all know I love characters that smoosh my heart around and I'm here again with smooshy feelings. I mean, I felt for Tyler and the inferiority complex he had from living under his brother's shadow and being known as the family screw up. But Savannah? I hard core related to Savannah. Being a pro cheerleader SHOULD be everything she wanted but at what cost? Is it worth the hits to her self esteem? The stress? The anxiety? We see Sav slip into disordered eating habits due to stress and I just wanted to hug her. And it's so subtle that you see her slipping back into old routines with food until it's a Problem. Tyler might be a new husband figuring out how to keep his secret wife in his life but when he figures out something is not right with her, he does what he can to help her without being too pushy. (Been there. Pushy loved ones did not help.).
I just loved the way Brittany wrote Savannah's struggle and Tyler's desire to help. I think it elevated this from two characters together due to lust and showed that they care about one another. Kudos kudos kudos for therapy being talked about as something that isn't shameful but necessary. He jokes about being excited for couples therapy and I was like "I love this fictional man". Also Mr. Tyler Matthews has a dirty mouth. Clean it up with Orbit dirty. Yessss.
I do think the end was a bit rushed and wrapped up pretty quickly but I really loved Savannah and Tyler and their journey together 6) it was equal parts funny + sweet + angsty + hot. And! It had all the delicious sneaking around elements you could want!
Probably best to read the first book in the series first of you want the snippets of Ty and Sav from other characters POV, but works totally fine as a stand alone!
- Sports romance (football x pro cheerleader) - Accidental marriage in Vegas - Forbidden romance - He falls first - Mental health representation - No Third Act Break-up - Spicy romance - Dual POV
Right off the bat, you could feel the chemistry between the two of them. Even when they decided to stay married to help each other out and be “friends”, they could hardly stay away from each other. They also supported each other SO well. Savannah encouraging Ty to go to therapy and work on himself before they became a real thing, Ty helping Savannah start her own business, Savannah sticking up for Ty with his parents, Ty supporting her with her own struggles. They just worked so well before
Oh Tyler Matthews …. He is such a sweetheart. You could tell right from the beginning how much he cared for Savannah and wanted to make it work between them. He continuously worked to show her how he felt and didn’t try to rush her into things. All the small things he would do for her (like book her a hair appointment), were so sweet. The moment in the book that made him book boyfriend material to me was “girl’s night” (IYKYK). That was the SWEETEST moment in the book for me!!
I also really liked the chapters outlining the rules in the Cheerleader handbook. Really helped me have a better understanding of the kind of pressure Savannah was under. All the rules she had to follow were intense!
Thank you @brittanykelleyreads for providing me with an ARC of this book! Excited to read more of your books in the future!
This was such a cute, quick, fun read! Against The Rules is book #2 in the Wilmington Football series following Savannah & Tyler. Savannah is a cheerleader for the NFL & when she meets a guy in Vegas & ends up accidentally marrying him, she has no idea that he plays for the same NFL team she cheers for. Unfortunately the team has a no fraternization policy so when Savannah tells Tyler she wants a divorce, he has other plans, basically telling her that he’ll make it worth her while being his wife.
Tyler & Savannah were so good together! I really loved their story even though it was a bit insta-lovey for me. Tyler fell fast & HARD but it was honestly so cute.
Tropes: - Sports Romance 🏈 - Marriage of Convenience - Forbidden Love - Pro Football Player x Cheerleader
Thank you to Brittany and her team for sending me the ARC!
I won’t lie, at the start I was unsure if I was going to like it. The first few chapters feel like it was all at warp speed. BUT as I continued I really fell in love with this story.
The warp speed at the start was evened out by the slowness and care that Ty shows Savannah throughout the book. He wanted to take care of her in every way and that hit me in the feels so hard.
Watching them come together, the bond that they formed, was just perfection. And that bond eventually led to all the hot spice 🌶️ and to top it off Ty has a great dirty mouth 🥵.
Please check the trigger warnings as this book mentions eating disorders and anxiety quite a bit, but I think it was done really well. Letting people in and getting help isn’t a sign of weakness 🫶🏼
First off I’m so grateful to have been given an ARC for this book. Bare with me with this review but it is currently 2:30am 😂
Now I was much more excited for this book because a broken wedding night in Vegas! Yes please!
Okay Savannah is a bad ass and she doesn’t know it, she’s so kind caring and will stand up for others. Tyler is so cute, compassionate and a giver ( in more ways than one if you know what I mean 😉)
I absolutely love the representation in this book about mental health and eating disorders, I felt very seen through Savannah. Tyler just wants to make her happy and see her worth which I absolutely love seeing in books
Overall I really loved this and again so thankful to have been given an ARC!
Accidental Las Vegas Wedding? MMC with Golden Retriever vibes? When I saw those two "tropes" together I signed up and I LOVED the story, the characters, the whole world of cheerleaders and football players; if I liked the first one, I loved this one twice!
The story of Ty and Savannah starts with them meeting in Las Vegas and getting married on the same day because they were very drunk but that didn't stop them from telling all their secrets, the thing is that they stay married because Ty wants to pretend something with her family and also help her build her own business, Here we have to keep in mind that from the first book they tell us that the cheerleaders CANNOT HAVE ANY CONTACT WITH THE PLAYERS, and if we go by what we read in the first book when all the "big discovery" happens, these two were already married, and from there they had me intrigued and finally seeing the whole story enchanted me.
Ty on the one hand being a support for Savannah, worrying about her and also looking for help for him was worth reading and Savannah, my poor girl just wanted to make her dream of having her own business come true without stopping dancing; seeing how the two complement each other here warmed my heart, I didn't see any drama and that was a win for me.
It was a good read, the kind that keeps you awake because you can't stop until you have all the answers.
Thanks to the author for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review 📚!!

Thank you so much to the author for sending me an advanced copy of this. All thoughts and opinions are still my own.
After really enjoying the first book in this series, I was really excited about this sequel. I love the conversions the author introduced about the mistreatment and sexism surrounding professional dancers in the sports world.
And I still enjoyed that aspect in this book, despite the DNF. The way the heroine was objectified and forced into uncomfortable scenarios in the goal of "being sexier" was awful and my heart broke for her.
But unfortunately the married in Vegas plot meets alpha-hole/playboy hero meets forbidden romance meets marriage of convenience was too much. And honestly an overdone premise that I would like to not read again for a long hot minute.
With the plot being one I wasn't invested in, and the repetitiveness of the dialogue (the same conversations were played out multiple times between characters and as internal dialogue) with a hero I didn't care for, made this one I didn't care to continue with.
While it wasn't for me, I think this book could be a fun sports romance for someone looking for a classic married in Vegas, reformed playboy athlete romance. With the added element of the mistreatment of dancers in sports.
I’ve really enjoyed Brittany’s previous books especially Against the Clock and was excited about this one. We have a marriage of convenience, forbidden, football romance between a pro cheerleader and a football player.
Let’s starts with things I loved: - TYLER!! He’s everything. He’s kind, caring and pursued savannah with everything he had - the plot! I’ve never read about cheerleaders before and so this was really fun and eye opening into the good, bad, and ugly of the world of cheerleading and dance. - THERAPY REP!! Brittany put the therapy representation on THICK and I loved seeing not only savannah thinking about therapy but Tyler!! Let me honest 99% of romance characters need therapy and I’m glad Brittany added this. - side characters 🤌🏻 Brittany slays at teasing and hinting future books and I can’t wait for the other books in this series
And now the things I wasn’t crazy about: - savannah was a little too push and pull for me. I needed her to reciprocate more of the love. - it felt at times the plot was all over the place. We have Tyler saying I love you really soon and asking her to move in but it doesn’t happen till the epilogue which almost felt a bit misplaced and weird. The ending felt rushed. - the whole aspect of accidental marriage was really fun but sometimes the reason they stayed together felt off - I feel like I just needed more from Tyler and Savannah as a couple. Sometimes they went a few weeks without talking?
Overall, Brittany knows how to write obsessive men who will do any ring for their woman and I love it. I cant wait to read the next few books in the series based on some of the hints 👀👀
*arc oficial review* Against The Rules -5 ★💕
“Because tyler matthews kisses like the world’s on fire and I want to burn with him.”
I read this in like 24 hours, and I'd do it again. I probably will do it again, honestly.
Tyler and Savannah own my heart. I couldn't put this book down! This is such a sweet and spicy story! Ty falls fast and hard for Savannah!
But first, I loved savannah. she is sweet and goofy, but she's also loyal to a fault and has a quiet resilience about her that I can relate to and respect. we watch as she struggles with her insecurities and goals, as she works through the societal pressures and expectations placed on her, as she opens herself to love after being heartbroken.
Then we have tyler...that fictional man, let me tell you. I love him. He has huge golden retriever energy but he's also domineering as fuck and possessive in the best ways. But there's so much more to ty than that. Like savannah, he's dealing with a lot behind closed doors. We get a peek into his family life, feeling like he's living in his brother's shadow, and getting treated like he'll forever be the little boy making dumb decisions.
Savannah and Tyler were not only able to find strength in each other, but they become each other's protectors and biggest fans. They communicate openly, and are so accepting of where the other is emotionally. But what I loved the most about the relationship was how important mental health was to both of them. There wasn't a third-act break-up but there are a few times when they put the breaks on their relationship so they can take care of themselves before trying to put more into their relationship, and I loved that. It tugs on your heartstrings but you can't help feeling so proud of these two.
I wasn't ready for this book to end but I'm so, so happy it started.💕
This book has all the fun tropes in it: - forced proximity - instant attraction - friends to lovers - reformed playboy - “teacher” - golden retriever/ sunshine vibes - praise 🧨
I want to thank the author for the ARC . I loved it.🥰💕
first of all i just wanna say thank you to brittany and the team for giving this e-arc in exchange with an honest review.
i gave this 4.3 stars.
this book is absolutely sweet and spicy. it has that adorable and cute moments ngl i’m swooned. tyler and savannah steals my heart. their relationship HAS A GREAT DEVELOPMENTS. them happened at vegas. and you know what all of these tropes in this book are mostly my fav. forbidden romance??? are you kidding me??? a football player and a cheerleader??? THEY KILLED IT. i couldn’t stop reading this book. they falls fast and hard for each other. i’m really rooting for them. it also talks about things like mental illness, struggles and giving up on something. it’s just not romance THATS WHY I LOVE THIS BOOK MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE. tyler and savannah has like the healthiest relationship ever. the way tyler took care and being a very protective husband and savannah being the nicest wife ever. they’re perfect for each other and i’m gonna cry just thinking about them :(
if you love:
- forbidden romance - sports romance - football player x cheerleader - forced proximity - golden retriever x sunshine - reformed playboy
PLS PLS READ THIS BOOK!!!! i can’t wait for more in this series!!!
ARC Reader here!! Thank you to the team for sending it. It has been a rollercoaster for me to gather up my thoughts n countless readings to conclude this book. My final thoughts?
It’s really a good book. While there’s people gonna think it seems rushed but BUT!! When you’re in a mind of the MC n FMC,it doesn’t seemed that rushed. Getting married drunk in Vegas? Okay that put me offguard cause i think alot of books have ideas of people getting married drunk buttt I’ll let it slide since Tyler is such a SIMP (and quite quickly too) and I LOVE THAT!! But if there’s ever a Female Character i wanna save,it’s savannah cause reading this, she’s such a sweetheart though insecure of herself (like me too) but all in all this is such a good book. It has everything it is:sweet, simp, angsty n abit of hot scenes too
Final verdict: I would want to have a backstory about Savannah and Tyler before they met in vegas. I wouldn’t mind it as a standalone and i love the book alot!! But for now,I’m just in love with the book and plus i always wanted to know what goes behind cheerleading so it’s a double plus too. Some people will love it and some people will hate it but it’s still a good book. Took me awhile to finish because i was blushing alot through the book

Against the Rules was a funny, sweet and spicy football romance! I loved it!
Savannah is a professional cheerleader and meets Tyler in Vegas on a night out. She is unaware that Tyler is a football player for the same team she cheers for. This is a problem due to the non-fraternization policy. However, they end up having a bit too much to drink and accidentally get married! Savannah wants the marriage annulled, but Tyler has strong feelings for her and wants to stay married. They make a deal, and this is where the story really begins!
Tyler was so adorable and would literally do anything to make Savannah happy! He had the biggest golden retriever energy ever! I loved the way they both supported each other. This book did an excellent job at balancing the lighter moments with the serious and important topics such as anxiety and eating disorders.
I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a cute and fast-paced football romance!
What to expect: 💜Accidental Marriage 💜Pro Football Player x Cheerleader 💜Forbidden Romance 💜Forced Proximity
I already mentioned this book in my stories right after I finished it. This book was incredible. I love the “teach me to be sexy” vibe in books as well as sports themes, so I went into this book thinking it would be another fun read in those categories, however this book surprised me in the best way!
Okay, the story was fun, the characters well written but the attention to mental illness, stuggles, giving up on something you love and the thought proces that goes into that is what made me so emotional while reading this book. I recently went through a same process and whew! Did this hit close to home!
but you guys!!! this fucking book!!! savannah and tyler had me in a serious chokehold! i absolutely loved every second of it, i could barely put it down! if you haven’t read book one yet, definitely do that! it’s against the clock! both are masterpieces & will have you hooked so quick. also… the spice? 😮💨 absolutely amazing.
Loved getting my ARC copy for Against the Rules! Tyler and Savannah’s story is so cute and definitely worth the read. As a dancer and instructor I also appreciated the realistic look into the competitive and often toxic environment that comes along with dance, cheer, and women’s sports in general.
Thank you to Brittany and her team for the ARC of the book! Tyler is now on the list of book boyfriends because of how much he cared for Savannah. He fell first and fell hard for her! He even went to therapy for her! ❤️
“I think I’m in love with you, Savannah, because you see good in me that not even my family does. Because you stuck up for me like a tiny pitbull at brunch. Because you make me want to be good enough for you, and I’ve been going to therapy to try to make that happen.”
UGH this book!!! So good!! I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and let me tell you it’s SO GOOD. If all men were like Tyler Matthews the world would be so much better. His genuine care for Savvy is so important and sweet to see, on the flip side to see Savvy so scared to death to be in love but accept it as a reality is just so sweet
ARC Review - I went into this book with only the information we got form Against the Clock and I was so surprised at the tropes that were thrown in! I loved the Vegas marriage trope, I never saw it coming!! Tyler is SWOON. His nickname for Savannah? His loyalty? His dirty talk? God bless america this man is perfection. I love how Tyler was able to make Savannah live and find joy and leave her job that made her miserable. So much growth and love between these two. Brittany, you killed it!!
