Cynthia Baxter's sex life needed spicing up. She hoped her colorless fiancé would get into the spirit of things when she brought home Raunch magazine's fantasy issue, but she was wrong. Her ex-fiancé left her naked and tied to the bedpost after being called away on business during "Ravaged by a Dark Dangerous Stranger."
Luckily, Cynthia's new neighbor—gorgeous, sexy FBI agent Jake Wheeler—rescued her from her very compromising position...and her boring existence. She wasn't about to correct his impression that she was a very bad girl. Which meant that Raunch magazine might not go to waste after all.... At last, she was going to live a little!

Live a Little by Nancy Warren Cynthia Baxter tried to spice things up with her fiancé. After a rather unsuccessful and embarrassing try...she realizes she's living her mother's life—not her own. So, she lets the real Cyn the Bold out and with a new look and attitude...she faces the world.
Jake Wheeler is an FBI agent who is trying to find a way to prove his friend was murdered and catch the men who did it. When he comes upon the little sex goddess in his new neighborhood, he realizes a tough gal like her can help him with his case. She's the type of gal who knows the ropes and will be able to seduce the truth out of men.
A humorous story with plenty of danger and...de-briefing. Cynthia may have a new attitude but she's definitely not the gal Jake thinks she is. But now that she has a chance to do something—there's no stopping her. Loved the story. It's a real page-turner. **Sexual content http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
3 ½ stars. Light, sweet, and nice. A little on the short side, but enjoyable as a romance novel.
STORY BRIEF: Cynthia is an accountant who wants some excitement in her sex life. She buys some sex toy handcuffs and has her fiancé Walter handcuff her to the bed. Apparently he left the room and forgot about her when he got a call to go to the hospital. He’s a doctor. Several hours later she hears a neighbor’s car and yells out the window for help. The neighbor sends Jake, an FBI agent who recently moved into the neighborhood. He frees her. He thinks she is sexually wild and then is excited to learn that she’s an accountant. This makes her perfect for a case he’s working on. Neville is into S&M and owns a company Jake believes is in the drug business. If Cynthia could get a job there, she could connect with Neville sexually as well as search his records as an accountant. He asks Cynthia if she would be willing to volunteer for the FBI. She agrees. She gets a makeover, interviews for the job and gets it. Later Jake realizes Cynthia is not the wild sex kitten he thought, and he is attracted to her. So now he tries to convince her to quit the job for her safety. But she won’t. She likes the adventure and him.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: It may not be real-life believable, but it was fun. One part of the story didn’t get worked out enough. A bad guy is aware of Cynthia doing something suspicious but doesn’t act on it until days later. I could accept his delay, but I wanted to know his thinking as to why he waited to confront her. Other than that the story and characters were good. It’s a little shorter than most romance novels.
DATA: Story length: 246 pages. Swearing language: mild. Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: 6. Approximate number of sex scene pages: 23. Setting: current day Seattle, Washington. Copyright: 2001. Genre: romantic suspense.
I love Nancy Warren's books and I didn't want to stop reading this one. I hated when it ended. I wanted more. Why the 3? Because even though it was hilarious as all Nancy Warren's books are and even because the sex was Smokin' Hot, the main character was too stupid to live. She was so incredibly likable though. I was rooting for her the entire time. I wanted her and her flaws to get the gorgeous guy. So what if he was the one who put her in danger making me question his IQ as well. Still Jake made up for it by saving Cyn over and over and over again. They were a couple of people whose hearts were totally in the right place. They did stupid things, but they meant well.
One thing that bothered me was the missed opportunities for tension and the easy acceptance of the end of past relationships. Cyn was engaged for six years then when she kicks her boyfriend out of her life, he goes without a fight then has a girlfriend immediately and it's okay, no questions asked.
I think it bothered me because other than small anomalies, Cyn was completely relatable. She was turning thirty and realizing she hadn't been young yet. She lived in the home she grew up in and hadn't made it her own. She suddenly realized her job was boring the bejezus out of her. Who hasn't felt that? Who, once they'd realized all those things, wouldn't want to do a hot FBI agent? Exactly.
So that's why I wanted more even though I didn't believe some of the story. It was well written, but not well told. It was still worth the time and effort to read it. I loved it, but I didn't. Would I read it again? Probably if I needed a little happy mindless diversion. It's a good book. It's a fun book. It's not the best Nancy Warren book I've ever read. I'm sure I'll gush over the next one.
