I’ve come to Fairland to help save an endangered plant. Thankfully I won’t be alone, not when I have a mountain rescuer there to keep me safe. Unfortunately, the guy isn’t at all what I expect. Quinn is grumpy, silent, and has quite the staring problem. He’s also extremely good looking and makes it hard to concentrate at all times. Thanks to his attitude, focusing shouldn’t be a problem. The way he acts, I have to think the last place he wants to be is babysitting me while I do my job. Well, we’re going to be stuck together for weeks so he’s going to have to get used to spending time together. Knowing he’ll be counting down until his freedom, I’ll be trying to do the same. After all, the last thing I need is to actually enjoy all the attention he puts on me. Should be easy enough.

Melanie is a botanist that has packed up and moved her life to Fairland Mountain to study and cultivate a rare plant that had been discovered on the mountain, her research isn’t something that can be done overnight, so the intelligent thing to do was to locate there permanently. She had arrived at the mountain rescue building to meet with the person responsible for her safety whilst she’s carrying out her essential work. Meeting her guide doesn’t go exactly as expected when she walks in and overhears Quinn making his displeasure at having to “babysit” her. She feels awkward being in his company from that moment on, especially with how handsome he is. It’s not long before she notices the looks that he is giving her and they seem to be filled with heat. Is she only seeing what she hopes to see or could the attraction between them be real and not just in her head?

Quinn is not a paid babysitter, he is a member of Fairland Mountain Rescue and the very last thing he wants is to follow round a botanist making sure she doesn’t get in any trouble, but he knows that it’s a losing battle and can’t really say no. It’s until he catches sight of Melanie and realises that she has just heard all about his displeasure, but that meeting of eyes teaches him something fast, and that’s he’s just found his soulmate and has no idea how he’s going to make things right between them. However the heat between them isn’t cooling down and all he wants is to claim her, but she’s only there for research and he knows there would be no way he could let her go if he had a taste of her. Could Quinn convince Melanie to stay on the mountain with him, or has he already missed his chance?

Short read with all the feels, and even some laughs. It’s fast paced fun read. 4.2*

Gruff Mountain Man Quinn is tasked with showing a botanist around the area in search if a specific plant. Melanie arrives to meet her guide only to find him trying to get out of the assignment. Quinn is uncomfortable around the tiny woman and she’s unnerved by his constant stare. On a whim Melanie bolts out of sight and poor Quinn runs after her only to save her from a fall when she trips over a root. Each thinks the other is uninterested. Melanie finally plucks up the courage to face her desires and confronts Quinn only to find that yes he’s overly interested and has dreams of a future with her. Cute story of attraction and grumpiness.

What a fun read. Melanie is a botanist sent to research an endangered flower. Quinn is a big burly mountain rescuer. He is tasked with protecting and guiding Melanie around the dangerous mountain area. He takes his job seriously and can’t keep his eyes off of her. She begins to suspect he may have feelings for her and test her theories. Such a cute fun story. These two have an instant attraction, Quinn is our burly alpha male protector who doesn’t want a scratch on Melanie at all. Expect some heat, humor, and instant chemistry. I would recommend this novella.

A great read whilst relaxing with a coffee

If you are after a short romance that has a gruff mountain man then Nyla Lily has you covered with Quinn & Melanie's story. He's a silent grump that is sexy looking with an attitude. She's there to research an endangered plant & she gets the grump as her guide. Attractions sparks. Can Quinn change Melanie's first impression of him?.

This is another mountain man romance set in the Fairland mountain rescue series. We got a hint of Natalie and Quinn in book one and I couldn’t wait to read their story.

Natalie is a botanist and is studying a certain plant, Quinn is tasked with keeping her safe up the mountain. Quinn is gruff but opens his heart to Natalie, there was some sexy moments and I loved reading their story.

Watched by the Mountain Man was an ok short story. I like the way characters from Nyla's other books tie in, however I felt like this one was rushed.

This was a cute short story. The inner monologue was a bit much, but the story was what I was looking for.

Back with the mountain rescue team and this time it is with Quinn, a rather unhappy Quinn who, in his opinion has been given a babysitting job looking after a botanist. He quite literally just needs to watch her and make sure she stays safe on the mountain and it could be for weeks!

Melanie really doesn't think she needs a babysitter of any. type, she is here to study the rare flowers that they have discovered. When she overhears Quinn's complaints about having to look after her she is quite prepared to tell them she is going to do it all on her own. Then he turns around.

When Quinn sets eyes on Melanie he has a similar reaction. He may not want to have to follow her around, he certainly doesn't want to fall in love - after all she could be leaving town once her project is over - but does he have any choice?

Melanie tries to chip away at this strong, brusque man she knows she is developing feelings for but he doesn't seem to be taking the hint. Even a passionate kiss in the woods doesn't seem to help. It's only when he angrily makes her wait in the rain for him that he realises how stupid he has been. She wants him. He wants her. They both know that each other is the one for them. Can he prove to her that he knows he was wrong and that she is his forever?

Quinn may be a grump but he is a hot one and this is another hot, sweet, passionate and short love story that will leave you with a very big smile!

Melanie is doing research and needs a guide on the mountain. Quinn is less than thrilled with the assessment to watch over Botanist Melanie at least till he sees how beautiful she is. He acts all tough and grouchy but his starring has Melanie unnerved and flustered. Melanie runs off to test a theory and naturally Quinn is in hot pursuit. Things proceed quickly to HEA after he saves her from a fall.
