I enjoyed these stories despite the poor grammar, spelling and other errors...have they been edited at all?
However, the series is an engaging fantasy, filled with action, adventure, magic and mysticism. It is imaginative and has all the ingredients for this genre, not forgetting the heroes and villains.
Thor's story is the most intriguing and mysterious; though many of the characters don't seem to develop much.
There is a debate about the author, but I sense a female has written the books because of the style and tone, though I could be wrong - does it matter? If a machine has produced them, it's not clever enough to spot the glaring mistakes.
Nevertheless, while I am enjoying the series, I will continue, but, please get an editor.
I read this book and had to get the other 16 in the series. I just could not put it down. Some days i read for 8 hours straight. What a great fantasy ride. So much is happening in these books but the author writes it so it is easy to follow, like several little stories happening in one book. The characters I found to visualize, like and or dislike quickly. Descriptions were intense and in depth enough to make me feel as I were there in the story as a character myself.
If you like action, romance, fantasy, magic, castles, knights, battles of good and evil and valor then you will love this series. There is gruesome killing but the author does not go into a deep description and make it gory. There is great love and romance but nothing even pg rated. Lots of fantasy but not to extravagant. It amazes me how creative this author is and I constantly wondered "what in the world will happen next?".
To me a perfect story, a perfect read, and i think it would make a great movie! Reminded me a bit of the "Lord of the Rings. I would highly recommend this series and this author to anyone that even considers these mixed genres.
I hate this series, and I really wanted it to be good I read through to book 12! hoping that it would improve, but I can't read anymore of it, its like the author wants to torture his readers, I feel like the author dragged the story on long past when he should have ended it, and the constant rollercoaster of everything going well to the bad guys are winning and everything is going horrible and back again is so frustrating and irritating. Plus I don't like the parts where some of the characters get raped, this really bothers me. through this whole series so far, I've been annoyed at the lack of justice for the people suffering and by the whole thing where the bad things happening to them is being blamed on fate its like their saying, "oh its fate, its just how it is live with it." I can't believe I read this far into the series, but I can't read another book!
As the war with the empire concludes it is now time to rebuild and reconstruct the ring. But not everything is peaceful. Conflicts start to form from the McClouds who are dissatisfied with the Union with the McGils. The rule of the Upper Isles is not a smooth transition as Gwen has hopped.
I feel that the chapters up through chapter 8 should have been in the previous book to give it a conclusion, but that would have made this book very short.
Another fantastic read. I loved all the series Couldn’t put this book down there were so many adventures for the new shields and knights to overcome. Also love blooming
I would recommend these books for anyone that just needs to get involved in a series that takes you away for a little while. These books are good light reading. Spelling at times needs help especially as the series gets further along.
I remember writing papers in HS and college - always rushed up against a deadline. I would do the research and have a good sketch of an outline. But, I would turn in what was my draft, not taking the time to correct spelling mistakes, problems with syntax, and not expounding when clarification was needed. Always a good first attempt ,but they didn't live up to expectations. That's the problem I see here, the author has a great FIRST DRAFT but the books need more work! I hope the author will pause and rework these books after additional editing and then proceed to the conclusion of the series that will live up to the promise of an epic.
Lots of war and thankfully the main characters survive. Alistair is a druid and helps Gwendolyn. Alistair and Thor have a special relationship. The McGills win the war, but at what cost? The last book leaves you wondering about the prophecies of Thor and Gwen dying and the strength of their child. It also makes you wonder if the next war will come from the McGill family in the upper Isles, Mccloud people, or Romulus. It feels like a huge clash is coming and Argon's words to Gwen don't help relieve any of the worry that a lot of bad things are coming their way.
I tried finishing the series but in the end I couldn't anymore. the author has much to learn about writing and maybe even killing a few of his main characters.
Every time they are in a bind, he jumps to a different character only to come back later in another chapter and the one going to die suddenly knows moves to save him/herself.
It's a shame, the series started out great but that's about it.
Thoroughly enjoyable read but now getting repetitive and predictable. 17 books at £3/4 a book is also getting rather expensive especially when each book is only about 200 pages. Even the 3 book bundles (671 pages in total) at £10 a shot are a lot to pay for fairly short stories. Bit of a rip off really and it could/should be split into 3 good books like Lord of the Rings or something. I'd love to finish the series but I'm not forking out another £30/£40 sorry.
This book/ series has it all; epic battles, court intrigue, evil enemies, honorable knights, noble and villainous rulers, magic, dragons and romance. The adventures of Thor and Gwendolyn continues. The ring is constantly in danger and victory and peace often fleeting. Starting the next book of the series. HAPPY READING!!!!! Tim
I have truly enjoyed reading this series of books, as they have a wonderful, yet quirky way of weaving each character into the next. On to the next on!!!
I enjoyed the first two books but the third seemed to have lost its way. Not sure I can be bothered reading the remaining 8 books. There are also odd grammatical errors that crop up now & then.
Some of this rating was because I didn’t like something that happened and the rest was my own fault. I won’t elaborate on my fault. Lol! On to book 10.
