Get all three books about a girl who can turn invisible, the boy she's crushing on, and the neo-Nazi geneticists after them both. Includes bonus content: Will's Killer Pizza Recipe and a sneak peak at Cidney Swanson's Saving Mars series.
Book One: Rippler When Samantha Ruiz turns invisible in front of team mates while rafting, she knows something's wrong. According to her knowledgeable friend Will, she's got a rare genetic disorder. Fearing a lifetime sentence as a lab-rat, Sam wants to keep her ability secret. But she also wants to know if there's a connection between dark Nazi experiments on others like her and her own mother's death eight years earlier. At the same time that Sam is sleuthing, she's falling hard for Will. And soon, she'll have to choose between keeping her secrets hidden and keeping Will safe.
Book Two: Chameleon Sam's troubles are growing. The crush who kissed her seems to have changed his mind. Her BFF thinks Sam is in an abusive relationship. And the evil geneticist who wanted Sam dead now wants her ALIVE. When Sam learns of Helmann's Nazi-like plan to re-establish a Thousand-Year Reign, she's determined to fight him. Along with Will and Mickie, Sam flees to France to meet Sir Walter--their best hope for stopping Helmann's brave new world. But someone invisible follows her to Paris, and now Sam must figure out how to hide from an enemy she can't even see.
Book Three: Unfurl Against all expectations, Sam has survived attacks by two of Helmann's deadliest assassins. She's alive, but she's far from safe. Helmann is planning a second Holocaust and wants Sam to play a starring role. Will, now separated from Sam by an ocean, seeks a way to prevent Helmann's apocalypse. Along with Sir Walter and Mickie, Will plays a deadly game sneaking into Geneses' facilities, discovering unsettling clues as to Helmann's plans. The clock ticks down as Will and Sam discover just how much they must be willing to sacrifice to stop Helmann. UNFURL, the powerful conclusion to The Ripple Series, will leave fans breathless.
A unique thrilling series about a magical genetic ability, the people who have it and the Nazi type geneticists who want to kill or do tests on them. Sam and Will are friends who both have the ability to ripple which is what the ability is and are pursued by the geneticists relentlessly. They must do their best to avoid detection and capture and try to bring down those who do harm to them and others like them. A great series with action throughout and a bit of love interest to soften the thrills and tension.
I loved this series! It was probably one of my favorite series that I have in a while. I couldn't put the book down at the end! At the beggining of this series, the main character named Sam, accidentally turns invisable in front of her cross country team and her friend Will helps her out of this sticky situation. She later finds out that Will also has the abbility to turn invisable. They start to train together and practicing turning invisable. Sam eventually finds out that her mom was murdered a couple of years ago by these really bad people trying to create a second holocaust. These same people come after Sam multiple times throughout the series and she barely escapes evey time! Then, at the end there is a big show-down between everyone good in the book and eveyone bad, and only some people survive. In my opinion, the ending was kind of predictable. The whole show-down between good and bad was inevitable and I was kind of dissapionted that this was how the author ended the series. I haven't looked to see if there is a fourth book in the series but i am really hoping so because the author left a lot of open ends. Plus, I think that the characters are just now figuring out who they are and just now starting to realize what they are capabe of. Eventhough the ending was kind of predictable I really enjoyed this series! I would recomend this series to anyone who likes a littleaction, romance, and a litle mystery. I THink that many people would like this because it covers lots of genres kind of and it doesn't have any slow moments, theres always something the author has you thinking about.
This book sounded so fascinating; something new and intriguing and unlike any other book I've read. It started out okay. But, it definitely lost it's momentum for me over time. I found the characters dull and meek. The main character couldn't make a tough decision or do the smart thing to save her life. To me she seemed to whine a lot. The romance/drama was of little significance. Their reactions and how they reacted to one other were pretty predictable. And the old man they meet up with who gives them all the information they need; rolling my eyes.
First of all I really enjoyed this set of books; a lot. For me it took off right at the beginning and then just kept me running at a steady pace all the way through. The writing is superb, well crafted characters with an exciting though measured even pace that kept me right there with Samantha and Will.
This seems to target young adults, but I didn't let that sway me. In fact I was doing my usual cleanup of my kindle app on my PC when I recalled I hadn't downloaded this one and so I did and usually to do that the book gets opened so my eyes started scanning the page and I was hooked.
Apparently from the reviews there are some few rare people who seem to escape that hook, but I can't for the life of me see how.
In the Rippler we start with Sam our on the river rafting with her friends when the unthinkable happens. Sam has this problem where she just sort of vanishes like the invisible girl in fantastic four comics. She's been hiding it and she'd had some unusual trauma, the death of her best friend and her mother in an accident so she's been withdrawn up until now, which means that this vanishing trick is not going to help her much. Everyone except for Will has missed her vanishing act and they all somehow think she fell out of the raft so they all have a moment of panic.
With everyone running around Will talks to the invisible Sam trying to get her to make herself visible again while no one is watching. Of course it's puzzling to Sam how Will knows this and how he seems to be so calm about it. Will and Sam are already friends and this is going to bring them closer or tear them apart, but it is definitely going to have some impact.
We soon find out that Will has secrets of his own and that both of them are going to be in a lot of danger. They have special abilities that people are going to want to take advantage of.
One small comment about this story.Neo Nazi plots, characters with special abilities, siblings or parents who have passed away often under mysterious circumstances, and evil people who want to kill or control the special ability group. The themes and subplots are all familiar ones to this genre although Cidney Swanson has added a few ripples of her own to make it unique. But always with these types of stories what becomes the most important is the writing style and the crafting of characters. In those two I was extremely impressed.
The dynamic between the group around Sam and Will drive the story and the plot is driven by revelation of the evil through old journal entries present often through the eyes of the followers of the master mind of all the evil.
The Cameleon continues the story with further explanation of what is really happening and the danger that it poses to not only our main protagonists, but also to everyone they care about.
Will and Sam struggle with the best way to use their abilities to stay out of trouble and with the struggle of the growing relationship between them.
Finally Unfurl brings things all to an exciting dramatic conclusion that you will just have to read once you read the first two. At least that's how it was for me. And it doesn't disappoint. Each book builds on the previous and each one is better than the last.
Young Adults and even Adults who like the SFF should enjoy this and anyone that likes all those comic characters with their special power and angst should enjoy this. (Except they'll have to draw their own cartoon panels. And that seems to be one complaint of a fellow reader about these types of books.)
I loved it and I'll likely be reading a lot more of Cidney Swanson's work.
Wow! What a crazy journey! This is an edge of your seat read throughout and will keep you guessing continuously. The tread of clues are there but, you'll have to be sharp to pick them. Swanson is obviously a well educated, smart author who knows a lot about history. I loved this story, the theme, the style and characters. In fact, Swanson can really bring these characters to life with her style and personifying. Here is mystery, intrigue, deceit and some kind of magic! A troubled girl (Samantha) suddenly finds herself in a situation of being hunted by (for lack of a better word) mad scientists. She has something they want and they will stop anyone who gets in their way. An age old experiment with genetics has gone pear shaped and greed, lust for power and world domination is a battle that Sam and her friends cannot lose!
I read this as a trilogy via ebook. I got it as the story sounded interesting and I do like adventure type stories. This, however, was disappointing. I believe it is in the YA category, written for juveniles or perhaps by a juvenile. The characters were weakly drawn and the pacing was off. It did remind me briefly of the book 'Fade' by Robert Cormier. That was altogether a better tale and better written. I will try to avoid the YA stories in the future. Not recommended for seasoned adult readers.
This is a hard rating for me because I really enjoyed the first book (I would rather it 4 stars) but then the second book was still pretty good but not as good as the first (I would rate it a 3 maybe), but the third book I just couldn't finish. I found myself dreading reading it and instead of forcing myself to finish it I have decided to stop so for that book I would rate that a 1.
Who knows maybe you'd enjoy it more than I did so if you're thinking about it, read it. But for me I'm going to put this book down and move on to others.
My plan is to read at least 12 books in 2018. This was a good start. Finished last night. AND then discovered the book series doesn't end with trilogy! This was such a fun read, one of those "can't put a book down even though it's way past bedtime" kind of books! LOVED it! Very exciting, very thrilling and hold my breath moments. Sad i run out. Now have to debate whether to buy the rest or not :D
Ahh this book was so good! The whole concept from the start was so fresh and new and I'm so glad it wasn't stuffed up like some other books. The character building was great and you felt the emotions along with Sam and Will. The plot had you hooked from the very start even if it was sometimes predictable. It's been so long since I found a good book let alone a good series and this one had me questioning if I really needed sleep. Best
This book would appeal to a younger crowd (as it’s probably intended). I enjoyed pieces of it, but there was a lot of angst and lots of drama. I like the idea of rippling and I enjoyed the book (mostly), but it just didn’t grab me the way I wanted it too. It’s a clean read best suited towards 13-15 year olds.
I liked that I could read 3 books right in a row for continuity. Interesting characters. Being invisible would be my superpower of choice. Sam his her ability pretty good. It seems her dad May have known something. Did her mom have the same ability before she died. Did she never say anything to her husband? Well written.
I got this free from Bookbub. This was a fun, cute teen read without things getting lascivious. I don’t know why it’s called a trilogy- it seemed like a long story so they just threw in “The End” a couple times throughout the story. But it was good. I wanted more of the story, and I can buy book 4, I just haven’t yet.
Book 1 was a lot of fun and I really like the concept of the Ripplers, and the plot in general is pretty good. Book 2 was kind of weak, and book 3 was really, really weak. Super short and really irritating. I wish the author had consolidated the books so the series was not as long but maybe stronger.
Watching Sam grow was great. Her and Will's ability to be able to adapt to all the things standing in their way is astounding. I'm not even sure I want to continue reading the next book.
Once the story catches you, you do not want to put it down. Loved the characters and the storyline. Great fantasy and way to let your imagination soar.
I had read Book 1 previously, and grabbed the chance to get the trilogy. An intricate plot with interesting characters, and history and fantasy combine in a fast-moving story set in various countries.
Great fun, interesting and thought provoking. Thoroughly enjoyed reading these books. I am aware they are for young adults, and I am a rather 'life's adult, but hey, call the book police lo?.
I really enjoyed all three books. I was fascinated with the concept of becoming invisible and thought the author did a wonderful job in describing how it felt.
I hate giving bad reviews. I tried and tried to read this book. It is not a page turner. I do not like not finishing a book but this series never got interesting.
