36 books68 followersRick Murcer lives in Michigan and like many in that part of the country lost his job in 2008 due to a decline in the economy. An experienced executive, he sent out over 600 resumes without success. With unemployment benefits waning and savings nearly depleted he did the only logical thing he could think of...decide to become a writer.
Fortunately for Rick, he defied all conventional wisdom about self-publishing and literally became an overnight sensation. His first three books Caribbean Moon, Deceitful Moon, and Emerald Moon sold more than 300,000 copies between April and October 2011. He had two books in Amazon's top ten for many weeks and became both a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author.
Rick graduated from Michigan State University and is fairly new to the game of writing. This series, 'Manny Williams, just keeps getting better. As with the previous books, this book is full of thrilling adventures, mystery, deceit, betrayal, suspense and some pretty gruesome scenarios. The storyline was well written and pulled me in and didn't let go. The characters were awesome as always. Manny still surprises me with his spot on theories. And Sophie is still just as sarcastic and flirty as always. I love her humor. The cast of characters is a great array of personalities and very talented in their field. I look forward to reading the next book. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended.

This book is filled with action and dilemmas. Manny recovers from his stab wound of the last book and almost immediately goes out on another job, much to Chloe’s chagrin. Chloe is removed from Josh’s team, although they knew it was going to happen when Manny and Chloe got married, the ending is a little bittersweet. She remains at home awaiting her next FBI assignment.
Sophie is very much dialed down in this book, and for that I was grateful. No more tough-girl attitude and snarky comments. I enjoyed this softer Sophie much better.
Alex is taking his new hand remarkably well. He is going to be fitted with a robotic hand soon.
Josh and Dean are Josh and Dean. Something is troubling Josh however, and Manny is curious to know what it is. There is more character development in this book, but it does not detract at all from the story.
A serial killer in on the loose in South Carolina. Murdering the victims in a horrible fashion, the local police ask for the FBI’s assistance. At the same time, someone is murdering some familiar names from the previous books. And guess who comes back to torment Manny’s team once more?
This book is very well written and plotted. It starts out with a bang and the suspense continues throughout the book. The characters are well-developed. I especially like how the team all gets along and works quite well together. I really enjoy this series and cannot wait to delve into the next in the series!

Loved it!!
Great book, I'm loving this series!! Can't wait to read another book. I really like this author, and Manny Williams is as interesting as John Sandford's Lucas Davenport!!

I love Rick Murcer and have loved Manny Williams, however, this one wasn't one of my favorites. While the book had an amazing pace, and the awesome characters that I have come to love in this series, I felt that the book wad rushed. It had way too much going on, too many story lines crossing into this book and being tied up into one neat little package.
I feel this book would have been better if we had gotten just one story line, give us just the psychopath daughter or the double cross or do both and give us a longer book with the story it deserves.
Also, there were some editing issues, I can normally forgive these minor irritations, but again it goes to the overall impression that the author rushed the book and just threw it out there.

A run of the mill effort
While the major characters in this series remain generally interesting, it continues to suffer from far too many overly convenient relationships between the good guys and the bad guys. That aspect causes it to lose significant credibility. Also, we're the locations used in this series vary (Caribbean, Carolina, etc.) the geography rarely seems to factor into the story. (An exception was the rain forest theme in the previous book.) I'm finding little reason to continue on with the series as I get the sense the author is desiring to move in a different direction with his writing but can't figure out how to wrap this one up.

I wasn't thrilled about the ending of the last Manny Williams book and I was even less thrilled about the beginning of this one. I almost put it down. Glad I didn't as this was the best one yet. It was a thrilling roller coaster ride with some twists that I did not see coming. I finished it in less than a day and could hardly put it down. Can't wait until the next one!

I was very confused by this book and wish I had read the previous one. The story seemed ok but too many things going on at once and too many characters from previous books. Just made it more convoluted for me.

Well, the team is back & working an intense case, they are to find out just how diabolical Argyle was/is, yes, the mystery gets deeper with each book.
