The book Big Nate Pray for a fire drill by Lincoln Perice. I do not read Big Nate that much but when I do I love it. It would be cool if they made a movie.

This book was about Nate's girl getting stolen and then going steady for one day. Then Nate try's to go steady with a random girl and then they break up after 5 minutes.
Then their is a test in social studies and Nate did not prepare. Nate mentioned that they had not had a fire drill in a while.

I recommend this book for people that like comedies.

A collection from a comic strip...about a kid, primarily occurring during a school year. Pretty cute really. The creator was born in Iowa & was a teacher, & has drawn comics for 20 years!

I read this for the current kindle challenge. I can see the appeal to middle school kids. It’s cute with a little adult humor threaded in. I appreciate the talent it takes to be a cartoon artist and Lincoln Pierce has tapped into the mind of a middle schooler!

The novel starts off with Nate and his friends playing Monopoly. Nate wins and taunts them because he has such a big ego. Later on, in school, he finds out that his crush Jenny is dating a boy T. J. Nate, having a big ego, tells everyone that T.J is not mean't for Jenny and he is perfect for her. Days after this, he realizes in the cafeteria that there is an empty wall. He decides to tell his teacher that he is going to use that wall to make a mural of himself. Instead, his teacher decides to make the mural as a class art project. Nate tries many more times to show his affection for Jenny. He made a poem based on her characteristics, and gave her his hair and accidentally sneezed on her food. The next day, Nate wonders why there was no fire drill and wanted a fire drill during his social studies test review.
I rate this book with 3 stars because it is funny and it shows the humorous hatred he has for his teacher, Ms. Godfrey. There are many things happening at once so it was hard to find out what is really happening.

Genre: Fiction - Graphic Novel
Ages: 3rd-6th

Big Nate graphic novels are great choices for reluctant readers. The book is formatted in a way that makes it easier for students with shorter attention spans to stay engaged. The topics and the situations in which Nate finds himself are very relatable. I have only read this one Big Nate book but I intend on checking out a few more. I really liked Nate's dad. He tries so hard to stay involved in his teenage son's life but teenage boys are hard. Nate has typical sibling rivalries with his sister. He is creative and his teachers don't really seem to understand him or embrace his strengths. The book was funny. I very much enjoyed it.

This book was impossible to follow the constantly changing storyline. The best way I can put it is that Lincoln Peirce's writing style embodies an extreme case of attention deficit disorder. This will be the first and last book of the Big Nate series that I intend to read.
