In Retribution, Jess leaves the colorful town of Paradise, Kansas; but before he does, he stops at the fresh graves of Little Toby Lambert and his father, Heath, who tried to clean up the town by pinning a sheriff's badge on. Jess makes a solemn promise at Toby Lambert's grave site that he will hunt down the four men responsible for their deaths, as well as for Sarah Purtell, who was savagely beaten, raped and murdered by her own men with the help of her own brother. Jess sets out on a mission of revenge to hunt down and kill the four men responsible and his mission takes him to northern Texas, where he searches for them.
His search is a long and hard one, having to crisscross northern Texas searching town after town, looking for the four men, but he won't give up, he never does. The four men he is hunting discover that he is on their trail, and they split up, making the job of hunting them even harder, but they learn that when Jess Williams is hunting a man, he never quits...ever!

In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.

He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
Our man Jess Williams is on the trail again hunting four evils who murdered a father and his young son Toby Lambert by burning their house down with them in it. These same four men were responsible for the rape/murder of Sara Purcell by cutting her throat. These types of men are what our man killer Jess Williams hunts, there isn't any moral perimeters or principles that these men won't cross. Then we have the ones described by the author of the men who brace Jess Williams for the notoriety of being the shootist to end Jess's life. He always gives these losers chances to back out of the situations they've put themselves in. He gives back to some of the people in the town's he's staying or passing through who helped him in someway. I personally think that's a good sign, because regardless of your place in society it's good thing to give back. The frontier was a wild and wooly place for families who were destroyed and most times their were children left on their own to survive the best way they could. Waiting for the next adventurous episode of Jess Williams on the hunt for the worst of the worst humans who make their own laws to live by, and thumb their nose at the legal system. Keep your powder dry and your ARBUCKLES hot and we'll meet you down the trail.
If you enjoy Western books and you enjoy stories about good over evil then you should really enjoy reading "The Jess Williams" series by Robert J. Thomas.
Well looking forward to next book. Will read all I come to. Thank you for Jess Williams books. I'm 83 and been reading your books for awhile. Enjoy looking forward to his next ride. He can sure get in messes. But always comes out ahead. JD.
Robert Thomas has created a true western hombre in Jess Williams. I am so caught up in Jess’s objective to rid the west of vicious and ruthless killers, I just keep reading Thomas’s series of Jess Williams westerns.
Jess Williams continues to the dirty work. I enjoyed this book as i got deeper into it. Nothing special about this story but I just can't get enough of this Jess Williams. I love the adventure of the Old West world. Excited for what is in store based on what the last chapter talks about. If you liked the previous books in the series you will continue to enjoy the continuation of the Jess Williams legacy.
Jess goes after 4 guys with bounties on their heads. I enjoy how the author describes each town and the people in them as he rides into towns. The title is a big clue to the plot. I would have given it 5 stars but there is one man from Montana that ends up dead that seems a little out of character for Jess.
The only way to make this book any better would be to have the William Tel Overture playing in the background. The author has a way with words and knows how to use them in a way to bring a story to life. Highly recommended. So, "Giddy Up."
