Jess finally takes time for a well-deserved rest after finally hunting down the other four men who killed little Toby Lambert and his father and raped and killed Sarah Purtell.

He arrives in Stratton, Texas, to stay at the Stratton Hotel and finds trouble on the first day, having two run-ins with the town sheriff and a back-shooter by the name of Rory Hammond.

Things get worse when Jess is approached by a young girl by the name of Samantha Shultz who is dressed as a young boy and wants to hire Jess as her personal hired gun. Jess refuses at first, but things change after hefinds out exactly why she wants to hire him.

Jess and Samantha set out on a long journey of revenge and justice. Jess' job is hard enough, but having a young naive girl dressed as a boy makes his job even more difficult. He has to protect her while hunting down stone-cold killers and she doesn't make the job any easier. Before his job is finished, more bad men will hit the dirt, victims of the raw justice Jess dispenses in his own way.

Sometimes you just got to do what no-one else will do.

A very enjoyable take of good vs. evil and the writing of a wrong in the old wild west. If you enjoy a western then I highly recommend this series.

Number fifteen is as good as it gets.

I love westerners. I'm a huge fan of Robert J. Thomas. His Jess Williams character is fantastic. He has grown from the boy killer. Into a wise young man quickly. After hitting the Bounty Hunter trail. Always guaranteed to be a good read.

Good read

Jess is helping a young girl and her father. The father was beaten almost to death and made to watch his thirteen year old daughter raped. It was good to see John Bodine again.

The Jess William Series. Literary junk food and just as addictive. like potato chips you can't stop at one. Crazy characters. Fun reads. Blood. Gore. Hea's abound. Certainly more hits then misses.

Hired Gun

Looks like Jess has met his match when Samantha (Sam), hires him to track down the three perverts who almost killed her father and raped her. Jess finally relented to Sam's constant pleadings, accepted Sam's payment offer of $12.22, and the thrill of the hunt got under way. Both Jess and Sam were both in for an education. I highly recommend this book for you. So. "Giddy Up."

As westerns go, I found this one to be a little above average. The story kept me interested and entertained. It's a tale of a bounty hunter hired by a teenage girl, dressing as a boy, to find three outlaws who beat her father and raped her. Several stereotype adventures along the way.

A very quick read. I could almost call it a one sitting read which is not normal for me.

I had not read any westerns in quite some time, they seem to have fallen out of favor. This one kills off a lot of bad guys and is a fun read. I finished it right after reading John Wayne and a whole host of stars in "The Shootist" so it was appropriate. I did detect 4 errors however.

I love a good western. This book definitely had lots of action and showed the more caring side of the main character. However, the characters lacked depth, possibly because of the length of the story. This reminded me of a shoot-em-up B movie with a main character that was a little too unrealistic.

Wonderful story in a great series.

I really enjoyed the new ideas that Thomas wrote about in this book. He has the ability to keep each book as a stand-alone, yet in a numbered series as well. Good western writer!

Best Book So Far

By far the best book of the series. Incredible story where the author focused more on character development instead of random shootouts every chapter. I hope this style of writing continues throughout the series.
