A note for grownups!

Teaching kids the importance of being prepared doesn't have to be harsh or scary. Regardless of why you (or someone you may know) prepare, remember that the single most important thing you can teach your kids is how to think!

All the preps in the world don't mean a thing if people don't know how to think clearly. Teach useful skills to all of the kids you know, to include critical thinking, problem solving, and the most important one of all - how to be resourceful!

Prepper Pete and Friends are the first and only Prepper books on the market designed especially for kids! Check back often for new releases!

Keep preppin'!

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, former Surface Warfare Officer, and currently a Navy Chaplain, Kermit Jones, Jr. stumbled across the idea of a prepper book for kids when trying to decide how to explain the topic to his four young daughters.

A Navy Reservist, he was recently recalled to Active Duty for a three year tour. In addition to writing children's books, he is an instructor for USAPrepares.com, and he has been featured as a guest on several radio and talkshow broadcasts.

Between kids and his career, he has learned that it is important to "be prepared!"

Having attended high school in a very rural part of Virginia, Kermit later earned his Masters degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently working on his Doctorate in Chaplaincy at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

3.5 stars. A Goodreads giveaway win. We live in Tornado Alley and are all about being prepared. While stocking up on food, water, tools, flashlights/candles, and non-electronic gadgets are all great ideas, I found it a little over the top for the ants to also needed an arsenal of weapons and ammunition (including gas masks)! Ants don't need weapons to obtain food and protect themselves from predators, and neither do people. I did especially like the part about growing your own food and staying fit & healthy. Great advice given, but bordering on extremism.
