Darkness Apart is an anthology of 8 stories ranging from a demon pregnancy to a possessed church. Each story is a little piece of something you aren't sure exists, but worry that does. You never know what is out there. It might be out there. In the... darkness apart.
Jason Mueller's closest friends call him Jake. As he is mostly a horror/supernatural writer, its yet to be seen if you want to get that close or not! Yes, he bites.
Jason studied for the ministry for several years before life took a giant swing at him, forcing him to change courses a bit. He's read the Bible, both Old and New Testaments more times than you would believe. To this day, much of his work has a religious backdrop to it.
Jason escaped from Illinois when he was just about to enter his 20s and hasn't looked back. He currently resides in Indiana and has four children who are his entire world - two boys and twin girls. Jason is currently working on various projects and hopes to keep you scared to go to sleep for years to come.
Ok seriously I want to know what goes on in Jason's mind.
This book is seriously twisted. If you want to be up all night
long for many nights . This is the book for you if you like things that go bump in the dark.
Jason takes us on a wild ride through hell and back. He lets us into his very dark and twisted mind. Trust me I am looking at the shower differently now. There are no light and scary ghosts in these stories. They go deeper and deeper into your subconscious and take you deep into the hell that can be found there.
Trust me I had to put this book down a few times, yes I admit between both books I was kind a freaked. Jason had me freaked and I usually don't freak easily. He took me to places where I never thought I would go. Oh Dam I forgot about the clowns . I already hated clowns but Jason put a whole new clown terror . I think he scarred me for life yet again. DAM YOU JASON lol.
Jason's stories are shocking and the characters are so believable, you feel all their pain and terror that they are going through.
Jason is becoming one of favorite horror writers . So if you want to be scared and have sleepless nights check out DARKNESS APART , you will not be disappointed
We all have a certain level within ourselves of how much pain we can endure—be it from physical, mental, or spiritual abuse. Then there is a pivotal moment beyond that level, where we stand on our tiptoes on a thin line, gazing longingly at the leap into madness. Most of us come back the other way, however grudgingly, and get on with our lives. In this book, Mr. Mueller tells tales of what happens when the wall is breached and peoples’ psyches go gladly into that world beyond sanity. Whether it stems from good intentions – such as the man who goes to drastic measures to save his family from the banshee without (or maybe within—himself) to unlooked-for trauma, as in the case of the new mother who visits a carnival, only to take away more than just a sore stomach from the fried food—these tales will take you to the pinnacle of madness. But you, on this side of the page, get to witness the plunge from the safety of your armchair. And that noise behind you? Probably just the cat…if you have one…
I read the first part of this book as a way of entertaining myself while on my stationary bike. Let me tell you, I don’t think I ever pedaled so fast in my life. When the terrors Mr. Mueller so aptly describes started showing up on the pages, I burnt rubber and chain oil, trying to get away from them! Yes, it’s that horrifically good. Eight genuinely terrifying stories, with evil clowns and vengeful victims, a strange visitor to a Catholic confessional, and shadowy bath time intruders. I’m sure you will find at least one in this book to keep you awake at night.
This is a chilling selection of short stories that I enjoyed. While the stories were inventive and unique, I really only came away shaken by one story (which happened to be the longest and most twisted in the book). I'm a horror buff, so it's hard to impress me with this genre. Mr. Mueller has earned one of my highest ratings for a horror book thus far at 3.5 stars. For those a bit more sensitive to horror and short spooky tales, this is the perfect collection. I do have to warn that some of the stories are a bit gory and might upset some of the more sensitive readers.
A collection of short stories that will keep you awake for many nights to come! Alfred Hitchcock must have been looking over the author's shoulder and patting him on the back. The characters are memorable and the scenes frightening. The writing is so clear and precise that you are a part of the story not just a reader. A 5 star read! I look forward to Jason Mueller's next book as soon as I can recover from this one!
Holy mind f**k, Batman! Mr. Mueller takes you on a wild ride full of twists and turns, rage, pain, and just.. horror. Things that go bump in the night? PFFT! These things claw your walls, leave marks, and take your children with them. Read this in the daylight, unless you LIKE nightmares. Freaked me out. Great job, Jason. I might not ever sleep again.
Darkness Apart by Jason Mueller is an awesome, scary as hell horror anthology that gave this reader nightmares. If you are looking for horror with a difference combined with brilliant, tight writing then look no further. I haven't had so many scary thrills since Stephen King's Skeleton Crew. Very Highly recommended
Horror at its finest!! Once you start reading this, you don't want to put it down. Very scary, with exciting twists and plots! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read horror. Five Stars all the way!!
