I did not realize when I read this book that it was part of a series. That may have made a difference but as a stand alone book it was a dud. There was no characterization; no description of the land; nothing. Just some stupid moves by some stupid people with some quick incidents like the hanging of a native thrown in to jazz up the story and a pregnant woman climbing a tree when a bull comes out of no where to chase her. Duh. For heavens sake; this takes place in Australia, the land down under, a wonderful exciting country with a rich history and gorgeous terrain. A little effort might have made a big difference.
I enjoyed book three a lot more. The story line was exciting and it all wrapped up nicely at the end. I like a tidy ending! The build-up to the final showdown was fantastic and I was wondering right until the last few pages how on earth it would be resolved. I'm glad that just because Daniel was a Christian, he didn't roll over and take being bullied - he did all he could to solve the issue peaceably - but he fought for the land and his family. It was also good to see Rebecca finally finding a way to share Christ with Callie.
Fabulous close to this families story. Through all hardships and even human's stupid mistakes things have a way of pulling through if God is the center of our lives :)
