About the author

8 books28 followersI was born on the West Coast, in Loma Linda, California, in 1975, and raised in Beaumont, CA – where some of my book takes place. I grew up with two brothers and one adopted sister. My parents were strong Christians and wonderful parents. They never fought, drank, or cursed; I had to visit my friend’s houses to see that. I was an Eagle Scout and loved to go camping with my family. We spent a lot of time off roading through the desert on ATC and dune buggies. I picked up my love of target shooting from Boy Scout camps. I still love to shoot, and, instead of riding the desert on my ATC, now I ride the waves on my wave runner.
I got married when I was 18, had two boys – Tyler in 1993, and Cory in 1996 – as a young father, I worked at Pizza Hut, until 1997; the same year my first wife and I were divorced.
I had the opportunity to help start a satellite plant in North Carolina for a micro connectors company, so I moved across the country to Salisbury. A year later I was offered a chance to become a tool and die apprentice, and worked as a tool and die maker for nearly nine years.
During these transitions I met the love of my life, Betsy, who is a school teacher. We were married 2003. We welcomed a baby girl, Sonja in 2007. I was unexpectedly laid off while my wife was pregnant. I then began working at a plastic company as a CNC programmer. Once again, after another lay-off in 2009, I decided to be a stay-at-home dad, and also started a computer repair business from home.
Another reason I didn’t return to work when I was laid off in 2009, was to help my parents with my brother, Nick, who was dying of a brain tumor. Nick was my baby brother, three years younger, and my best friend. It was always Nick’s dream to become a writer. I came up with a book idea for my brother to write years ago, but he became too sick, and the story was never written.
There have been a lot of changes in my life in the past five years – jobs, the loss of my brother, the birth of my daughter, and watching my sons grow up so, here I am trying to live out my brother’s dream, and it is to Nick whom I dedicate my first book. I do not consider myself to be a writer. I am, and always will be, a story teller. I have always made up stories in my head, and this is my first one that I wish to share with the world.
I am new to writing, but so far I love it and it has captured my attention completely. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

A great carry on from book one and not disappointing. Melabeth carries on with her thirst for revenge. She is more than just a young vampire and very powerful, but at the same time is getting more and more crazy about what she's doing. Great characters again in this book with a well thought out story line that like the first book doesn't loose pace for a moment. The White family of vampires that she has become part of are brilliant and mad. Thought the ending finished off the book really well, but unfortunately this book suffered from even more writing mistakes than the first one. About 3/4's of the way through, the book read like two different manuscripts for the same book had been grafted together without any of the faults sorted out and left you rereading a number of paragraphs explaining things that had already be written earlier on in the book. The proof reading on certain chapters was non existent and very annoying, worse than the first book. Kindle books seem to suffer from this sort of thing quite a lot, but having said all that, if I hadn't enjoyed it so much I would never have given it 4 stars.

ok so this time; he gets 5 stars. This book was so much more than I expected. I truly fell in love with Mel & her story. At times the story is rushed but never feels forced. As the characters develop I found myself laughing and then shaking my head and then laughing again. Alice has become my absolute favorite vampire, with her mind games & the detached evil she plays them with. The ending had me kind of thinking EHHHH huh? but once you finish it & sit back to think about it the lesson becomes crystal clear!!

Hahahahah! Oh my God! I'm laughing like a crazy for the ending was so unreal and so funny! I can't wait to read more! I want book 3 right now! Oh my God, I could have never imagined something like that would happen.
But let's start from the beginning.
As in book 1, my favorite character was Alice. Crazy vampire with a twisted mind but so funny and an awesome friend.
I can't say I liked Melabeth more and neither less in this book than in book 1. She surprised me often times, for I couldn't always predict her reactions and feelings. And she some times scared me a little, for she was pure evil. Other times I sympathized with her and could understand her pain and her need for vengeance. Even though I found her exaggerated at times. I think she really had anger issues.
The film of her death was.... terrible. I thought remembering Mel's memories of her raping and murder were bad... but nothing compared to what we saw in that film... And the ending of that film left me open-mouthed and shivering. It was so shocking and horrible. It gave me the creeps. And it filled me with so much pain and rage, it's no wonder I sympathized with Melabeth and wanted revenge as much as she wanted it. But still I didn't like that she had to kill innocent people too.
I didn't like David much in book 1 and I liked him even less in this book. I found him kind of weird and creepy before. Now I think he's evil and creepy and selfish. And I agree with Carrie when she said he didn't love Mel. That much was clear to me from the beginning. He acted too weird. He cared about her, yeah, but that still wasn't Love. I think Mel loved him once. But they both changed and so did their feelings for each other. I think Mel was full of hate. But so was David, and so much more than Mel. Mel was driven by a pain so great and a past so awful that would have made go crazy the strongest and most sane person. But David was following a very dark path. I think the use of dark magic changed him more than the loss of his family did. I had the impression that he started changing long before his family died. It was slow but I could see it clearly.
Michael.... I have never liked him much. And now I kind of like him even less. yeah, he might be hot, but that's not enough for me. Not even for a one night stand. Especially after what he told Mel in that cave.... It was appalling... and creeped me out a little. He made me a little sick and kind of disgusted me. Just minutes before he spoke Mel had said he was sweet.... Sweet my ass! He was a jerk and womanizer! Eww! Just eww! I would have probably reacted like Mel, or even worse. It sure would have been like pouring cold water onto my hot raging hormones. That's my opinion anyway.
What Melabeth did to her sister was horrible and pure evil. I think she had really gone crazy as hell by then. And although it pained me, and especially seeing Nicks so hurt and weeping, she deserved what Nicks did to her.
And as I said above when I started my review... well, the ending was so shocking and unreal, I lay there with my mouth hanging open and a smile on my face.

Having read and loved E.B.Hood’s Melabeth, the Vampire, I was looking forward the continuation of a story that I couldn't help but obsess over. In this second book of Melabeth’s adventures, her character has grown and strengthened, she has the support of her friends, new family and David – with the distant but ever present support of Nicks. She remains, however, so eaten up with her desire for revenge that it influences her every move, stunts her moral learning curve, and seriously impinges on what could have been an amazing and rewarding second chance at life.
The story line continues fast-flowing in E.B. Hood’s unique and engaging style. It gets progressively darker throughout and it drew me in completely. The surprises kept coming and the action scenes were intense with characters and situations that leapt from the pages.
I loved learning more about the White family, and was completely engrossed in a plot that dealt imaginatively with the major themes of friendship, betrayal, loss and forgiveness. The characters are beautifully written - Melabeth’s pain and emotions felt very real and mostly justified throughout, but she is volatile and very much a force to be reckoned with. (I loved it!) I especially liked the way E.B. Hood developed David, Carrie and Alice - for better or worse. They were so well depicted that I felt I knew and understood each personally and felt their upheavals and emotions more keenly as a direct result.
The ending took me completely by surprise. I stopped for a moment of shock to process it before coming to the conclusion that it was one of the best and most weirdly appropriate endings to a sequel that I’d ever read.

First of all OMG what an ending didn't expect that! But so glad it happend as it was awesome! !! Another great book. E.b hood is an amazing author and describes eveything in great detail! !! I love Melabeth! I really enjoyed finding out what she is and how she was created. All through out the book I was mentally yelling at melabeth and at one point in the book felt gutted about someone dying but I won't say who don't want to spoil it. I liked the little storey at the end and think its good to find out who nicks was named after. What more can I say? Apart from amazing !!! I can't wait to read more books from this author he has a life long fan here in Wales! ! Really hope theres a 3rd book I want to continue to read about melabeth and what she'll get up to next! Definitely pick up the 1st book and this one and get reading you'll love them!

I totally enjoyed the first book "Melabeth the Vampire". However I do believe Melabeth Forgive Me I am Sin had me hooked so bad I didn't want to put it down. We find out exactly what and who Melabeth is. She goes on a hunting adventure to get revenge on everyone that has done her wrong including her father. There are surprises that will catch you totally off guard and will leave you staring at the page in front of you in awe. Plenty of action, a little love and whole lot of surprises, and hold on to your seat because the ending will definitely not be what you expect. I am so ready for the third book and can't wait to see what surprises are in store for us. I sincerely recommend both of E. B. Hood's books. His imagination is addicting!

Wow I am so amazed. Just finished the second book in the series. So entertaining. What an adventure e.b. hood takes us on. Action packed. I honestly could not put it down. There are so many things you wont see comming. We find out more about the characters that are in the first book and meet some new ones. They are all interesting and colorfull. We all love a good, well written story. This is truly one of them.

I liked this follow up novel. Melbeth has developed into a stronger character with more depth. I did find a few small typos but they were not enough to detour me from continuing.
I was shocked to say the least when someone died(not saying who). I also loved the way the author Honor his brother.

I would like to thank The Cover Contessa and E.B. Hood for granting me the opportunity to read e-book in exchange for an honest review. Though I received this e-book for free that in no way influenced my review. I would actually rate this book 4.5 stars, based on the ending alone, but then the sheer volume of grammatical errors drops it to 3.5 stars, leaving me at an even 4 stars (though the grammatical issues are so frequent it is still irritating me long after finishing the book).
WARNING - if you've not yet read Melabeth The Vampire yet, stop reading now. For the love of books turn back while you still can! Read book one and then return and carry on. . . otherwise not only will you be lost as far as the storyline, many of the mysteries in book one will be revealed.
Picking up just days after book one ends, E.B. Hood keeps the story cruising along at a solid clip. Given how things went down, everyone has bolted for Vegas, a city of the dead. Time to regroup and make some new plans.
In the midst of all the action Melabeth finds herself drawing closer and closer to her vampire family, and more and more distant from David. Of course it's just because of what David has gone through, and the fact that he's spending all his time with the other Necromancers in the city learning all he can about his abilities, not too mention training so that he can do as much damage to The Order as possible. Maybe even as much as Melabeth. But with David gone all the time Melabeth ends up spending more time with the truly delectable Michael, all the while against her attraction to him.
Alice brings Melabeth out on a job with Michael and herself; their task is to retrieve a very valuable and dangerous magical book that has been stolen. All they know is that an unknown Wizard accompanied by two vampire bodyguards have the book, and they are aboard a cruise liner about to depart from Miami. While on the job Melabeth discovers the wizard is one of her targets for her revenge, however she doesn't tell Michael or Alice this, as she knows they'll tell her the job comes first. By putting her revenge first everything ends up blowing up in her face, literally. She ends up face to face with the Wizard, who recognizes her. However he tells her he doesn't have time to play with her and sics the female vampire on her, while he and the male vampire walk away. Though she manages to dispatch the female vampire she is outclassed when she goes head-to-head with the male, Peter the Lionheart. The two clash time and again, and she learns that Peter fought in the Crusades before being turned. Strangely the 800-year-old vampire does an about face from wanting to obliterate her to declaring his undying love for her.
She finally manages to evade Peter and makes it back to Vegas to learn that both Alice and Michael survived the job, much to her relief. She finally admits to herself, and Carrie, that she wants Michael. But she doesn't want to hurt David, and needs him for her revenge. Her decision is made for her, but it doesn't change her course of action. Even though her new family will support her they don't necessarily agree that her revenge will make her feel any better. Nor does her second father, Nicks. Each time they meet in his library to talk he warns her that she has a fork coming up in her path and she must choose carefully or it may be her last choice.
Throughout the book Melabeth struggles with her desire for revenge and how tired of it she's become. It has changed her, changed David, and she wonders if it will really change anything when she's found and killed them all. But each time she begins to back away something happens to fan the flames of her hatred, sending her charging right back down the path of revenge. She also grows much closer to Alice, and the two become friends. It is nice to see what is quite possibly Alice's true 'face' through her actions toward Melabeth as well as their private conversations. Alice grows into a more multidimensional character in this book, something that is enjoyable to witness, even while questioning the truth of the glimpses into Alice's true nature that we're given.
There were two things that really touched me about this book - one positive and the other negative. The negative may not bother some people, but the gross grammatical errors drove me crazy. They were bad enough that had the story itself not been as engaging I doubt I would have finished it. I can only hope that these errors are only in the ebook version and not in any of the print versions. On the positive side what really made this book for me was the ending. There are numerous engaging scenes throughout with many great twists and turns, but the ending is just so utterly unexpected that it boggles the mind. It is something I don't think I would have thought of in a million years. Not only is it creatively brilliant, it is also a wicked cliffhanger, guaranteeing that readers will be clamoring for the release of the next installment in the series as quickly as possible. . .

I had mixed feelings about this sequel. While I really liked the first book, this one just got stranger and stranger. The ending didn’t make sense, if Alice was like family why would she turn Melabeth as an infant that would be evil, not loving.
The story was also spoiled by so many typos and sentences that needed editing . Some of the dialogue felt stilted. A good editor could have improved this.
I did like Nicks and the library. But the whole Polaroid shooting didn’t work for me and didn’t make sense, who drags along a camera while carrying loads of ammo?
As for Nick’s story at the end, I found it entertaining with a comic and funny ending.

I liked the first book, I really liked this one. I definitely think that there is more depth to Forgive Me I Am Sin. All of the stakes are raised here - the darkness is a little darker, choices have longer lasting consequences, emotions are definitely wrenched a little higher and tighter. I think that Hood is really starting to find his voice as a author and that is thrilling to watch. Because I was more invested in this sequel I think that the things that I loved and the things that bothered me stood out a lot more. Like I said, everything is more intense here. You go from scene to scene where life altering discoveries or activities are happening and often you feel like a vampire because you cannot breathe - there is so much happening here. There were times that I had to slow myself down - I didn’t want to miss anything. But I did feel like I was missing something. See the flip side that is the excitement of the constant forward momentum of Melabeth’s journey for revenge (and self discovery) is the constant flip flopping of her emotions, loves and loyalties. She would switch so much that I found myself wondering where it was coming from - one minute she seemed to be calming down and the next she was a tornado of disaster - and not just her the same could be said for David, Alice, and most of the people that she comes into contact with. I found myself wondering if a lot of the decisions were to further our understanding of Melabeth or to get the story to certain key places by any means necessary. This is not necessarily a bad thing but it does give a schizophrenic feel to the book at times. I am so glad that we see more of Alice and Michael here. I still wanted more from them heheh!! I wanted more from David as well….there is so much more that could have been explored with him - I know that it is not his story its Melabeths’s but I think understanding more about him would give the story a little more depth. Same for Carrie and Nicks. At the same time there could have been some serious editing with some of the experiences we hear about over and over again. For example we hear about what she has learned about flying at least five different times and each time doesn’t really add anything new. Again this is not to say that I didn’t like the story I really really did. Even when I was frustrated with Melabeth I was always intrigued and engaged with her. And again I loved the side characters. I just think that with a little more this coiuld go from a good story to a great trilogy. That said the ending was absolutely amazing and something that I did not see coming. I am very excited for the next installment!!!

Whew, this was such a roller-coaster of emotions and actions. I didn't get to read two pages without something major happening. I don't know how Mr. Hood did it, but he made it work. I loved the first book and I sure love this one too. Although this was darker than the first, there was more fighting and more gore.
I didn't like Melabeth as much as in the first book because she let herself be guided by her hate so much so that she has forgotten who she was. Throughout the book I really felt sorry for her and her inability to find peace. That's because peace for her was like an illusion of an oasis in the desert, always out of reach. In letting hate consume her she has affected all her relationships, and the worst of all was the one with David. He was not her light anymore, for he was blinded by hate also. They did terrible things together and were not sorry for them.
I would have loved to know more about what happened with David after they separated but there was no information to have. Did he take the book? Was the book Alex had really a fake?
I can't stop thinking that maybe Carrie is not dead dead, I mean off to a new plane of existence. She was after all linked with that medallion and I thought that her being put into that sword handle was only temporary. I hope she is not vanished for good.
I am so upset for what happened with Charlotte and what poor Ezra must be going through, and even Michael who was very attached to her.
I hope there is a third book that will explain some more facts, including that ending. Ha! I couldn't help but say that Melabeth really got what she deserved :)))) I won't reveal that spoiler but it's so funny how the wheel turns. And I want to know what happened with Peter, he was a fun character.
My hope is that Mel will turn a new leaf in her new life and make up for her past sins. Yes she was a victim but she also was a predator.
I am most sorry for dear Nicks, I must say I loved his character, because of what he had to do to the only one being he called his daughter, and the one he has longed for for such a long time. I do believe that was the hardest part for me, he even warned her. But her being such a brat didn't take that into account.
I guess Alice now has a new doll to play with :))))

Another 4.5 Melabeth stars!

*Takes time to digest the ending* Weeeelll, that was something! Haha. This book is all kinds of things. But it is definitely far from boring. Sometimes it feels a little bit rushed but it just makes the story more thrilling and exciting. The book has a LOT of twists and I can't wait what happens next in Melabeth's whorlwind life, or afterlife that is. Melabeth may be a vampire in her afterlife but she shows emotions so strong that she sometimes focus on one emotion at a time. Kind of like Peter Pan's Tinkerbell, because she is a fairy she is so small that there is only room for one emotion at a time. *wink wink* Some twists in the story made me sad, some made me angry and some made me confused but that makes the book "unleavable" *I don't even know if it's a word*. You can't let go of the book because you wanna know why that happened. Why Melabeth, why? I cried at the part before the unexpected ending. Melabeth's emotions were so strong that I felt like I was the one facing my redemption, or the lack thereof. The ending really was not what I expected! Even though I really didn't expect anything at all because throughout the book, there really isn't any clue as to that phenomena happening! This makes me giddy to get a hold of the next book and see how the story follows. I found a few grammatical errors but they were only minor. Like the part where Melabeth said this line "If the spell wasn't broke, I'm sure I broke it" and "The trees I sat next two...". There is also a part where it was supposed to be "since" but in the book it was written as "sense". But apart from all of these, I enjoyed the book immensely and Melabeth is far from the average vampire story you'll read. I love her independentness but she could be a little reckless sometimes. Even so, she is always surrounded by people who loves her and are willing to die for her.

On reading this the second novel in the Melebeth series I was rendered speechless. What an ending. Really!!! I couldn't believe the direction this book took and the ending was just fantastic.
We find Melebeth driven with vengeance and hatred in her heart as she is determined to kill her killers and her father for the part he played. This is a story that flows really well and has many twists complete with great characters, with plenty of action, love, loss, betrayal, vengeance.
I would like to add that i really liked the book cover and how it captures part of this truly memorable read.

I read this book for a review.
Well, I can say I liked this much better than the first one. More emotions, more rage more everything. Melabeth is the same, stubborn and hot headed but its a little more tolerable.
I think I love Carrie. She was my favorite in the first book and the second book started off with me loving her still.
This book started in Vegas! Hello! How awesome is that? Its apparently one of the undead places in the world where magic doesn't work well. That idea alone is amazing. it's not fair when magic always has a one up on vamps. They are supposed to be super awesome and one spell can bring them down.
I started off still not liking david. That changed over time so I cant say exactly what it was that made me dislike him.
The writing was better in this one so it was a little easier to get through. I genuinely liked this book more than the first so id def recommend this to other people wanting to read a good vampire novel.

After reading the first book, Melabeth The Vampire, I was definitely eager to begin Melabeth Forgive Me, For I Am Sin and I was not disappointed in the least. Mr. Hood has a way of bringing characters to life with so much depth and complexity that you literally feel like you are in the story right there with them. This book is so full of action and surprises; I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and feverishly turning each page to find out more. Mr. Hood has written a story that is both creative and very original and has managed to incorporate a serious lesson on the power of forgiveness among all of the action. I am now hooked on all things Melabeth, and I can’t wait to read future novels from this talented author!

This book like the first was one was good but better although it seemed to take more on the dark the side. I do feel for Melabeth because of what happened to her but she has lose herself because of her need for revenge and her feelings of hatred which affected a lot of people. I'm hoping that she redeems herself and be better than before.
I enjoyed knowing about the story of the other characters and there were also some pretty interesting new characters. I couldn't stop reading this book till the end because the more I read it, the more the story becomes interesting it doesn't make me want to stop but as I get to the end, I was like the ending... Apparently I read the paperback version 2. That explains the page differences. I liked the first volume that started this series and it had minimal flaws. That being said this sequel was chuck full of errors as if this was written with speech to text. I don't know how so many people either didn't notice this or overlooked it.
The story picks back up with the revenge plot from the first book. Scenes of excitement and you get the feeling that the author is a great story teller. The big reveal as to what Melabeth is was kind of disappointing for me. The story was good at times and kept me wanting more. I don't understand why so many rated this as high as they did,but at one point I was going to rate it a 2 star, but the clever ending changed my rating to 3 stars. I don't think a 3rd volume would work with how this ended.

Melabeth is still obsessed with revenge, that is all she thinks about or cares about. She sincerely cares for her new "family" but is not concerned for their safety as long as she can get her revenge. She has grown more and more violent in this book and several people suffer for this.
I have grown to really like Alice. She is so childlike and yet so mature at the same time. I am not sure if she is good for Melabeth. She is there for her so I guess that's what really matters.
The twist at the end of this book absolutely blew my mind!! It was amazing, incredible and very creepy, nothing you would ever in a million years expect. I can't wait to see what the next story brings.

I was hooked on (Melabeth Forgive Me For I Have Sinned) from start to finish. E.B. Hood's characters are refreshing and new. He brings them to life in a way that brings out every emotion. There are plot twist and turns, humor, action, romance, its all here. So entertaining! Every chapter tells its own story leading you in to the next so you just want to keep on reading.In this 2nd book we finally find out who and what Melabeth is but what will she become by book 3? The ending is so cool and sets us up nicely for book 3, can't wait! There is an imagination explosion going on in this authors head that leaves all of us fans clamoring for more. I highly recommend this series. Love it!

I just finished reading the second book by E.B. Hood. You need to read "Melabeth the Vampire" the first book where you meet all the characters because in the second book you really get to know them. They become soooooo real, when they tell their story of their past lives you understand what makes them react and seek vengeance. The author is so creative and original you can not guess what will happen next. I actually had to read the ending twice and can't wait to read book three. Absolutely loved this book. I cannot wait for the third book to come out to find out where that is going to take us. The book ended too soon for me since now I have to wait for the third and final book in the series. E. B. Hood has done an amazing job of keeping this story unique and not just another "vampire" book.

Vampires and revenge and twists and turns it is truly an awesome series! The ending is SO UNEXPECTED!!!! And so AWESOME!!!! You will love this book if you enjoyed book 1.

A sequel obviously is a great challenge to develop, but EB Hood does an amazing job once again of keeping his readers turning pages wanting to find out what happens next. I highly suggest this book to anyone who enjoys fiction. The story is powerful and a true one of a kind.
