My son is normal, just MORE!
It is as interesting to learn that it is his temperament to DO and BE MORE ... and that not all kids are like this. I am NOT a wimp - just a mom to a spirited child who requires MORE of ME than other kids. Sigh of contentment . . .

This book is subtitled "A guide for parents whose child is more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent, energetic." This book introduced me to a new perspective in parenting——describing temperment, not only of the child but also the parent, and identifying characteristic traits, such as sensitivity and adaptability, as a range of responses, i.e., very sensitive or adapt quickly to usually not sensitive or slow to adapt. It provided a framework to describe and address responses, recognizing the potential for strengths in every characteristic trait and effective approaches to anticipating and avoiding some extreme responses. It reminded me, most of all, to appreciate and acknowledge different responses, especially those I did not experience or understand or share.

This book explains the difference between the introvert and extrovert child and their uniqueness - I was struggling with how to parent one of each in the same house, and this book was so insightful!

This may be enough...it repeats a lot of the main book that includes stories of other families that are somewhat helpful.

this book not only helped me relate to one of my children better, but it helped me understand my husband a bit better too. Guess where she got most of these habits from!

This is a very insightful book for anyone with a "Spirited" child. You will gain insights about the entire family, not just the child.
