A charming story of coming homeAgainst both their wills, fate throws restless Canadian Iain Macrae and the beautiful Louise Maitland together in the land of their ancestors. Before long, Iain finds himself deeply involved in the lives of the Maitland family, helping them through bereavement and trying to stop developers ruining their peaceful way of life. But is Louisa the key to his own future happiness?
I wasn't sure I would like this book, but it is set in Scotland and I really enjoyed it. I've been to Scotland so many of the places were familiar. I haven't read anything by this author before, but I found her to be a very good story teller. I enjoyed the story very much.
I loved this gentle love story set on the isle of Skye in Scotland, the storied island that sheltered Prince Charlie after his defeat and helped him flee the country. This novel is set in modern times and the characters are not flashy or theatrically noble, but quiet and modestly heroic. In short, exactly the type of people I like. The story line is predictable, but in a nice way. Sometimes, I want to relax with a story that is well written, filled with likeable characters, and not so suspenseful that I have to worry. This book fills that requirement perfectly.
