But who, Kathryn soon wondered, would look after her? Reid Darwin, owner and president of Tucson Janitorial Supply, seemed dead set against her, both on the job and in his private life. Understandable, she had to admit, when one fiasco after another only highlighted her incompetence.

Iron Eyes, her roommate nicknamed him. Iron heart, Kathryn amended ruefully. Not at all fair when he was so capable of making her own heart do pratfalls.

I had high hopes that a romance novel where the heroine was dressed AS A CLOWN IN FULL MAKEUP AND WITH A CURLY WIG would be memorable in how bad it was, or how bizarre it was. Alas, it was neither, and a DNF for me. Don't be sad for me, though -- seeing that cover has made my world a better place, at least for today.
