Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.

My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.

I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes.

5 stars. I’m not gonna lie… I’ve read a ton of books like Destined Mate. And because of that, I knew exactly what was going to happen, probably even before I read a single page. And you know what? I don’t care. I couldn’t put this book down. I don’t think I’ve read a book this quickly all year. And Destined Mate was EXACTLY what I was in the mood for. Yes, it could have been steamier. Could have been less predictable. Could have been angstier/ more emotional. Bla bla bla. I don’t care. Because as I said, I couldn’t put this book down. Destined Mate wasn’t perfect, but I loved it. And truly, my only real criticism is that I have to wait a week until book 2 is released. Because after that cliffy, I’m so ready to see what happens next. If you like underestimated heroines, shifter romances, complicated pack dynamics, and hidden identities, give this book a shot.

I loved the premise of the story. It was intriguing, enticing, I was ready to dive in. Then I realized that the main character/heroine is cuckoo for cocoa puffs. In my opinion, she was just so back and forth, had no sense of self preservation, and didn't include the qualities I just personally like in a main character (smart, enduring, brave). She had such an interesting backstory/personal take but then every decision she made I was over here like ma'am have you lost your mind? None of her actions made sense, one minute she'd be acknowledging her dire straits, BUT THEN SHE'D GO BACK TO THE BAD PEOPLE. Granted I understand, there doesn't need to be a sarcastic, witty, super bold heroine in every book (I don't want that at all I want all types of women represented in fiction). Sigh. We didn't mesh. Peanut butter and pineapple if you will. The story had a cool start but then I just couldn't get past the girl's dialogue and thought process being absolutely stupid. Maybe I'll like a different book by this author because she definitely writes a story that can draw me in. The love story I didn't feel was deep enough either-I needed more to take me into the hero's world too (this also could also be blinded by my feelings as stated above).

4.25⭐️ I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters, especially Jack…he was tooo funny! I will say though that if you put together the facts pretty fast you will put 2 and 2 together and already predict the twist. Which in all honesty, it wasn’t even me predicting it was more of me hoping in the beginning until my suspicions were proven correct by the facts.

For my first werewolf book I’ll just say I definitely really enjoyed this and will be reading the next one. But since it is my first book like this my rating could just be that way because I don’t have anything else to base my rating on. But this is a book I’d reread again, so after reading more books like this, later on I’ll probably reread this and maybe my rating will change. As for now, I still would say this was an amazing book and I am fine with my rating!

Poorly written

Story was NOT put together well and VERY much on a juvenile level. The female lead is supposed to be 22/23 years of age. Can’t tell it from the writing. Which is more mid teenager. All the main characters are below age in characterization. There is no relationship building between the H and h. Bits of interaction do not portray a relationship. It was hard getting through this book, it needs to be pulled, along with the other two, and rewritten. The high ratings it receives cannot be from mature readers. There is not a good portrayal of the story written. It is choppy, especially with the song references that absolutely need to be removed. And employ a good editor.
Theo is the alpha heir for the section where they live, not the alpha advisor, why is he disrespecting alpha advisors that he’s below in status? Same for a pack member? Which really didn’t make sense for a pack member to do.
Theo lets everything happen to her, yet she’s calling him her best friend? He’s also part of the problem, but he’s her best friend? The entire pack is her enemy, including him, the way he acts and talks to her, and he’s her best friend? Seriously? Total ridiculousness.
It is hinted that Callie reminds them of someone, and it’s really left at that for the longest time, nobody puts two and two together, nobody questions it. Daunting. It didn’t make sense. Also didn’t make sense how Callie was treated by her alpha. All over not being able to shift? Because it’s obvious she’s not weak. Also becomes very obvious, very early, who she actually is. Why hasn’t her alpha been questioned by the others?
Theo shows up at Bodey’s house and Callie just lets him and two of her attackers in Bodey’s house? Really? Knowing full well she has no business doing so? She’s a guest, she doesn’t live there to be allowing someone she KNOWS is not welcome in his house.
Samuel is supposed to be crowned king in a week, why is he hanging around Bodey’s house, staying there? Leisurely spending the day reading and just hanging out with them at night. He’s supposed to be taking over as king, not hanging out like he’s not going to be in charge of an entire nation. He should’ve been finished with school since he’s homeschooled, not still needing to finish school, and definitely busy a week out from being crowned. The reasons given weren’t good. Why doesn’t he have better security? He’s about to be king, a queen from another territory, wanting to expand should not be a threat to him, that he is hanging out at another alpha advisors territory home. And does Callie’s alpha not know that the future king is in Bodey’s pack? He sure was talking crazy for knowing that someone has direct access to the future king, who was raised in that other alpha’s pack.
Bodey says he is waiting for his fated mate, that he felt that she is out there, he has not felt anything towards another female until Callie, so why does he not think that she is his fated mate? That he believes is out there somewhere, that’s what you’re going with? Really?
You don’t put a warm washcloth over your eyes after crying, it’s a cool or cold washcloth.
She always biting the inside of her cheeks. Repetitive writing. Always biting the inside of your cheek will create scar tissue.
Coronation ceremony is supposed to be ready to go when Samuel and the others got there, so why were they still preparing for it when they got there, when it’s supposed to be paramount it happen immediately? And still no one’s questioning Zeke’s protests about Callie why? Then let him walk off on top of all of that? Samuel raised concerns and they’re brushed aside? Super secret meeting place yet the enemy is Johnny on the spot? Too cliche, too predictable, lacks uniqueness.

I recently received an ARC of this book for a review, and I was so glad that I signed up for it.
I managed to finish this book in a day. It grabbed my attention from the first chapter, the flow was really good, I think I figured out who Callie could be (this isn't some major mystery plot so it isn't some heavily guarded secret), but I am interested to see how's and why's of her adoption and her situation ect.

It was a nice start to a fated mates story where the characters had a slight attraction but got to know abit about each other and when it got to the steamy part, it was so sweet! (you need to read to find out why).

I like Callie and that even though she is the Omega / weakest wolf in her pack, she can't pack link, she cant shift, but she still has such strong convictions and doesn't suffer fools. A trait that lands her more often than not into trouble. The Alpha advisers seem like likable characters and of course we have - Zeke, Callie's Alpha. Gosh he is definitely a piece of work. Likes to have it a boys club only, women are lesser, seen and not heard. There to just service the whims of their partners and pack.

After taking a small break from Fated Mates tropes, this was a welcome that I was wanting. It kept my attention the whole time and then it ended and I'm like noooooo.... i need the next one!!! It does end on a cliff-hanger, but so worth it.

I stumbled into this while trying to get a kindle achievement, I had read most of the books on the list already and this jumped out at me. 👀

It was okay. Plot twists were predictable but it is what it is. Fun read at some points, bit of a drag at others. Not particularly memorable but I don’t read omegaverse type books often so it’s not my forte.

Ugh. I really liked the plot of this book, but the execution of it was not the best. First off… this book could be pretty great if it was just one book. It could’ve bumped higher up if it wasn’t so predictable. The “hints” that the author puts in are super obvious and you know who she is from the first time you meet Samuel. The book kinda dragged, but was still a pretty fun read. I mean, I stayed up late reading because I wanted to know what happened next. BUT the author doesn’t let the poor main character heal properly before she gets very hurt yet again. During the entire book, I think there’s like ONE day that she’s not hurting.

It starts out with her getting attacked and her ribs are broken? She’s mostly healed and has a bit of a twinge still, but she moves forward and gets attacked again. This time she’s got a bunch of wounds. She finally heals again and the following day she gets attacked yet AGAIN, and it’s so bad that an artery was hit. Shes magically healed (mostly), then guess what happens next? You guessed it! Another attack. 🙈

Character development isn’t really there in the book. There’s just too many fight scenes and healing/sleeping and arguing with her best friend to actually get to know any of the characters aside from her packs alpha and his son both being assholes. I honestly don’t know how she even became attached to Bodey since she was sleeping/healing or he was gone for meetings nearly the entire time she was staying with him. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve decided to make up an alternate ending in my head because there’s no way I want to read TWO MORE books to continue from this one. Basically too much, but also nothing happened in this book.🙈

i would like to thank kindle unlimited for giving me the free trial to read this book lol. bride by ali hazelwood has me in the mood to read more from the "omegaverse," and this was an easy choice. i enjoyed the plot, though i will say you will immediately know what twist the author is trying to introduce later in the book/trilogy. if you're still hung up on bride (like i am), i still recommend this causal read :)

The premise is pulling, a bit entrancing if you will, especially after reading amazing supernatural books in the past few months.

Still, the story was interesting, but felt rushed. Honestly, it did not have to power through it! There was room for more development; more time to connect with the characters and for bonds for fully form.

The potential is there, even though the twists are predictable.

I’ve been saying this for a while so I’m not sure it’s true anymore since I keep requesting them, but I’m not a huge fan of pure paranormal romance. I requested this one because I like the author’s writing style, and about the first half of the book is paranormal romance. That was fine, and I was enjoying it even though I was about 95% sure I knew where it was going in a couple of instances. The second half I just devoured. The action increased, I was glad that I was wrong about Callie’s pack (no spoilers), and I’m pretty sure my other one is spot on. We’ll find out if that’s the case in the next book. In any case, this is an enjoyable read, and I’m ready for the next one. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I just can’t explain well enough how good this story was! 🔥

I’m so grateful to have been selected as an ARC reader for this book, but I’ll always give my absolute truth on them.

Callie is an orphaned shifter in a pack who treats her like garbage. She can’t even shift for goodness sakes! And one day, five pack members attack her and grievously injure her.

Thankfully, Bodie and the other royal adviser (the other three who aren’t her alpha) come to her rescue and then the slow burn begins!

There is so much in this book, but I won’t give it away. Twists and turns . . . betrayals . . . so much drama that I’m dying for the next book ALREADY! 😩

Read it. Then read it again. Then buy the physical copy for your library. Thank me later. 😉

I really don’t know what to say. It pains me to rate a Jen L. Grey book anything less than a five star. But this book just didn’t work for me. As we all know here, she is one of my automatic buy authors, and I love most of what she has written.

Compared to her earlier works, and the brilliant Shattered Wolf that completely swept me off my feet, this book pales in comparison.

What Shattered Wolf got right, is that in every scene, there was always action and intense fight scenes. The characters pulled you in, the romance was passionate and made you feel so many things, and the story kept you hooked till the end. It had everything!

This book? Not so much. You can’t say I didn’t try to finish, I made it like 50% of the way in, before I took my time and had to pace myself faster to get to the end. Unlike my favorite series of Jen, this one was way more predictable, and I wasn’t drawn in to any of the characters.

What drew me in to Shattered Wolf was that Jewel was complex and likeable. She was mad, but she was also honest and brave. She was loyal and reckless, but was still someone who wanted to do the right thing. The romance was believable and emotional, and the action just topped everything off to make the ultimate experience of a book.

I didn’t get that here. I didn’t like Callie as I thought I would, she’s too calm and dull. The romance was lackluster and it didn’t make me fall in love with the chemistry/relationship unlike in Jen’s other books. The royalty/queen/wolf abuse plot line was good, but 75% of that was the same in other books by Jen.

Even Ruthless Mate had a slightly better FMC and the relationship was still average, but slightly better then what’s in this book. The whole Marked Dragon prince trilogy wasn’t the best, but it was still fun and interesting at least. This didn’t quite capture that magic I felt while reading Jen’s other books.

Wow, yup this was strikingly bad. Everyone is too stupid to live, not just the FMC but everyone. I made it all the way to 92% and dnf. I was trying but I just couldn't hold out any longer. This book was so predictable that a 2-year old could have made better life choices and putting the puzzle pieces together.

I’m not generally very picky about the books I read, but holy heck is this Twilight level trash. Not necessarily a bad or good thing, just is what it is.

Take that for what you will.

3.5 which almost feels like a miracle after the huge book slump I've been in. spoilers ahead.

oof. can I say I love when a book can make your heart ache a little bit? When she walks away from Bodey and goes back to her pack. ooffff. all the feels. I needed it, recently every thing I have read has been disconnected and repeats of other books. This was a good shifter book. Now let's chat about the good, bad and Zeke of it all.

Now let's start with what made this a 3.5 and not higher. Predictability. If you read this genre you can figure out this book fairly quickly. She is the lost princess, Zeke stole her and probably sacrificed her mom or his beta to do it. Took her memories and kept her weak so he could one day put his son on the throne etc etc. Now I am not mad about this set up, just it was glaringly obvious. I want to know how her sister factors in and I want to give theo the benefit of the doubt here that he isn't horrible but we will see.

The good here is that she is a good strong character and the side characters are funny and relatable. It kept a book that mostly took place in people's bedrooms and kitchens interesting when it could have slowed down and not been great.

let's see where this is going!

I am using a temporary membership for kindle unlimited. And the cover for this book advertised itself to me one evening via activation screen on my tablet

This is the second book I’ve read because the screen told me to, and I’m glad it’s going to stop soon.

This book is like a cinderella version of a werewolf shifter narrative. Main character is oppressed and has no power. Soon we learn of a great hidden destiny, so on and so forth. Instant magical attraction to a big male, lots of bedtime, followed by big family style breakfasts.

Hooray for strong female wolves in leadership positions. I’m not sure why it’s also their job to prepare all the breakfasts

Jen Grey kicks off her Twisted Fate series with Destined Mate. This book had a little bit of a different feel than I'm used to from Jen but still a great read.

I feel so bad for Callie, she has to put up with the indifference of her adoptive family (except for her sister Stevie), a cruel alpha, and a bf who really wasn't. She puts up with a lot of their crap but she does it with grace and a little fire. Callie isn't the type to submit, she has a handle on her emotions, is intelligent, and empathic. Callie deserves a change in Fate to bad Callie thinks Fate hates her and she might be right, Fate has it out for Callie.

Bodey is Callie's love interest and he's swoon-worthy. He's responsible, compassionate, thoughtful, caring, intelligent, and oh-so-brooding. His protectiveness of Callie was sweet, the connection between them instant, and I love that he had a sensitive side that wasn't shown initially. He's a romantic and adores Callie so he has my vote.

Jen did a good job setting up this world with its kings and queens, alphas, and advisors, plus she gave a nice little backstory. There are wolves of course but witches also have an important role in the book. I liked that in this world the wolves and witches are more integrated with each other, kind of a symbiotic relationship. With the wolves offering protection and witches using magic. There were a fair amount of hints to the bigger picture being dropped, I have the what but not the why figured out. I love putting the pieces together.

Jen does the best friend groups. This series friend group was already established with Brodey and his advisor pack. There's Jack, the mischievous charmer who talks a lot, Miles the quiet and observant one, and Lucas, the more laid-back of the bunch. Plus adorable Samual, the heir to the throne. He's sweet and so genuine, I liked how easily he and Callie connected. It's the guys and their families that make up this group, they give off a very good vibe and accept Callie with only minor hiccups.

A lot happened at the end of Destined Mate. It was pure chaos, trouble showed up, magic went away, and there are so many questions surrounding Callie it's not even funny. Not to mention the plot twist, Jen was sneaky with the very last one. I'm a bit confused about some of the ending but I'm curious about what's gonna happen next.

I, am having a hard time knowing what to say...
I love this author.
I can't pinpoint what it is but I both was pulled in to keep reading this story and was unable to fully keep my focus on it.
I liked it, but definitely didn't love it.
I've read so many books, and plenty of them were cliffhangers. This deserves a new category.. it ended in a clusterf*** it was so much chaos that it feels like the words and ideas were just thrown together to the point where whatever just happened makes absolutely no sense.
I have no clue. I'm confused. And maybe need to read the last couple chapters again and see if they read better a second time through.

I liked this a lot! Callie is such a great main character, I was rooting for her from the beginning. Bodey is just.... so hot and I was dying for at least someone to make a 'Bodey with a body' joke but no one did so I'M DOING IT. There was a startling amount of fuchsia in this but I still loved it. I'm really interested in the next book because even the people that seem bad seem to have motivations that aren't clear cut & I'm really intrigued!

it did what it needed to do, but there wasnt lot of character and world building. their life was super fast paced… less then 2 weeks?? i get it if it’s fated mates but the way this kind of plot was executed wasn’t really done well. loved the different characters and the slight plot twist at the end, but i just feel like there needed to be more. might read the next book, but i don’t think i’ll be lost if i don’t.
