Giles Powell is both powerful and rich. He is from the Powell family, dominated these days by his grandmother, Grace. She and Giles are both convinced the beautiful Harriet Jensen who has inherited from her friend Frankie, The Windrush Shallows Hotel which they started together some years earlier. As it was initially part of the Powell’s estate, Grace is outraged, believing the property should have come back to the estate. Then matters become complicated when Giles finds himself so attracted to Harriet.
Vania Lane flew from America to get away from Brett Carver who she loves but for various reasons refuses to marry. It took years , as she covered her tracks well, but with the aid of a private detective, he finally tracked her down and now he has arrived at Windrush Shallows to try and claim her as his bride. But will she succumb?
This was an enjoyable read. Nothing memorable and could have done without being reminded all the time how beautiful Harriet and Vania were and how handsome Giles and Brett were. Also skimmed through a couple of sex scenes. Other than that it was engaging enough but not a book to remember or reread.
