Unable to resist, he takes her to his bed, and is shocked when she becomes pregnant with his child. PARISH Untamed and undeniably sexy, Parish, leader of the Pantera hunters, rarely leaves the magic of the Wildlands to deal with the humans he despises. But with the prized and risky Pantera birth on the way, puma shifter, Parish must travel to New Orleans to find and bring back a human doctor. The moment he sees the lovely, talented and all too human Dr. Julia Cabot he cannot resist the wild, potent drive to make her his. Betrayed and destroyed by love, Julia will not let her heart choose her path again. BAYON Charming, drop-dead gorgeous Hunter Bayon is thirsting for revenge on the enemies who slipped into the Wildlands and attacked Ashe and her vulnerable child. But searching their shabby hideaway, he makes a discovery that shocks him to his very soul and might very well destroy the heart of the Pantera. JEAN-BAPTISTE Tattooed and pierced, sexy Nurturer Jean-Baptiste has been living in utter isolation. The beautiful and buttoned-up female puma is unlike anyone he's ever met. She makes his cat purr, and he knows he must possess her, mate with her.
TALON After the tragic death of his parents when Talon was young, he’s dedicated his life to protecting the Pantera. To the strikingly gorgeous man, loyalty and honor mean everything. So it’s no surprise that he’s determined to treat Isi Rousseau as the enemy. If the elders believe she is a danger then he will do whatever necessary to prevent her from destroying his beloved Wildlands. But discovering the delicate beauty sleeping in his bed, Talon discovers his noble intentions wavering. The female, with short, jet black hair streaked with blue, and a pair of dark eyes, might act tough, but it’s obvious to him that she’s as desperate as he is for a place to call home. More importantly, her presence is helping keep Ashe and her baby alive. XAVIER The drop-dead gorgeous leader of the Geeks, Xavier has one goal: find the human male his enemies seek. Devoted to his work, and to the Pantera, there is nothing that can distract him from accomplishing his goal.
I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.
Read Raphael 08/24/18. It introduced the Pantera world. Quick, hot fantasy 3.5* (only because it's under 100 pages. looks like the world building and plot arc will unfold throughout the series).
Read Parish 8/25/18. I was right, picks up right behind Raphael and continues the Pantera world and sees the plot deepening. Well it's not yet a very deep plot, because all the smexy mate heat times you understand. But there is a nice and juicy cliff that is a big enuf hook to keep me reading the next duology. 4*
Read Banyon by Alexandra Ivy 8/26/18 3* While the plot slowly expands, Banyon & Keira's second chance does not have enuf time to bloom. Sadly, nor was Kiera given enuf time to heal IMHO. Everything felt too convienent and rushed. But the new plot points are worth reading.
Read Jean-Baptiste 8/26/18 4* by Laura Wright was the passionate connection I look for in shifter stories! An opposites attract trope were each have their own secrets, but are both loyal to pack, really worked for me. Plus, new magical revelations are finally making the plot fairly interesting. Cause that's why I read shifter stories...for the plot!
Read Talon 09/25/18. Isi and Talon deserved SO much more to their story, as Isi (and her awesome blood) is a pivotal character to the overall series arc IMO. Sadly, the author did not provide any real writing depth to their storyline or connection...more like characters in a silent film over what should at least have been easily an epic movie as all the plot points were already in place for godess sakes! Formlamatic, wooden lovemaking left me MEH. 2.5*
Read Xavier 09/26/18. Winner-winner! A Pantera power couple is born!!! Wowzers!! Plot twist solution, check. Loving relationships, check. Smexy puma mating times? Yes please and double check. This story made reading the previos five books all worth it ;) Very satisfying 4.5*
4.5 stars for one very interesting and different type of shifter series. I stumbled on this series and loved it, read every book I could get to see where this series went. A very different shifter series with interesting stories with great characters. Bought and read years previously but reviews I posted from the back of the book are missing. Do not be expecting a full on, complete characterisation and in-depth series. You will not get it. This is not a deep and fully developed world, you glean bits and pieces as you go along, getting to know more characters and situation as things happen. Each story is a follow on, sometimes with a cliff hanger. But it is a fun and intriguing series of short stories that slowly develop into a great read. RAPHAEL Not a great introduction to this series. Lacking depth and needs more character development and background. Only get a quick summary of these two so you don’t get to really know them. Really is 50% sex but the other 50% is quite gripping. Read this series years ago and quite looking forward to reading them again. PARISH Another interesting read and nice to learn more about the Pantera. What an ending though. Wow. On to the next book. Really would have liked Gary to get his just deserts though. BAYON Wow, this is really getting interesting with what is happening. Presumed dead, Keira is the sister of Parish from the previous book. Found after missing for 25 years, Keira’s tortured and fragmented memory has to remember something important. Traitors must be stopped. Though these are all extremely short stories they flow like one book. Luckily I am able to read these through KU so no waiting. JEAN- BAPTISTE Adds just a bit more to the overall back story but gives us even more surprises and has me wondering about those elders. What they have done to Dixie by altering her memories is beyond cruel. TALON Another good addition to this series. Okay, it is decided the elders need to be gone for good. Self-centred and single minded. XAVIER Stubborn and honourable describe Xavier. Honourable as he has lusted after Amalie for years but done nothing as she is the younger sister of his best friend Aristide. Stubborn as he has never talked to his friend to tell him how he feels. Loved that Amalie seduced Xavier. Great ending with Chayton and what happens. On to the next book.
The only draw back of this set is the on a couple of them we are left hanging. I mean they really end abruptly and we're left wondering uh what? Its a good set and enjoyed the stories. So, thats my only issue. Thank God that didnt happen in the Box Set 2.
Raphael- He is a suit or a better word is a diplomat of the Pantera Shifters. He's the head guy pretty much as far as the diplomats go. Anyways, he recently spent the night with a woman who is human. Ashe. She draws him and he craves her like no other. He goes back to the bar to see if she comes back...which she does but only to pay her drunk mothers bar bill. However, he smells somehting different about her. She is carrying a Pantera cub...his cub. He kinda goes crazy and tries to convince her what he is and that shes not safe anywhere but the Wildlands. Although Ashe has no real memory just flashes which she thought were dreams about what happened. The best sex ever. She later finds she is pregnant and her drunk mother whom she takes care of tosses her out and calls her an unsavory name. So, Raphael does track her to a crappy motel and there starts their adventure. She thinks he's nuts...until she is almost taken out by assassins and he is hurt and thankfully Bayon comes to the rescue lol. She's a firm believer now. Its a huge deal she is pregnant because theres been a curse for the last 50 years. Nobody has been able to have a child or carry to term. She's pretty special but someone wants to stop her from having the baby by killing her. This is the start to the series. Various characters that you just love and laugh at. More to come!
Parish- I have to say he's kinda my favorite. He's a hunter and the leader of the Hunters. He's the boss man. He's really sexy and really in touch with his puma. He's sorta a follow orders and take what I want in the process type of guy. Its kinda cute and funny. He's tasked with bringing a Doctor back to the Wildlands for Ashe. So....he kinda kidnaps Dr. Julia Cabot....oopsy. He does technically talk to her and she is intrigued by him for some reason. Anyways when he gets her back. He's in trouble with Raphael and some of the Nurturers. He did break the law in taking her. She really freaks out when she wakes up. It takes a lot of convincing to what she is seeing and believing it is real. She really really likes Parish...just something about him. OMG...he likes her so much from the get go. He sure knows how to please a woman. Wow...the way he talks and takes charge...yummy! Unfortunately someone attacks Ashe and she is in a sort of coma. The baby is ok and technically she is but something is trying to take over. Also, there seems to be some traitors among them. Parish lives in a cave...he has since his sister was killed years ago. However, he's leaving his cave days behind and building him and Julia a new home because they are so in love and are mates. Not that they wont *ahem* go back to their cave every so often. Ha.
Bayon- This one was interesting. Parish's sister Keira isnt so dead. She was supposedly killed 25 years ago. Nope...shes been caged and kept for that long. So...color him shocked when following a lead hunter Bayon finds her accidentally. Now...Keira was older than Bayon all those years ago. They live a long time so 25 years isn't all that much in their lifespan. They are mates but she felt he was too young and inexperienced to be mated that young. So, they mostly fought. Then she disappears and thought dead. So, he's sorta freaked he found her. She wants to only be around him to get her bearings. Not even her brother Parish knows shes alive. She cant remember a whole lot and she needs time to remember things. She basically knows her name and shes Pantera. It slowly comes to her along with her connection to Bayon. Its a sweet story actually. They continue to investigate her kidnapping and Ashe is still not responding. Poor Raphael.
Jean-Baptist- Oh baby. LOL...he is one hot number! Whew. Tattoos and piercings...mmmm. He's a nurturer who is having trouble controlling his cat. So, he sees Isi who is a voodoun who has figured out how to help him by putting Malachite into his piercings and tats. Now he is tasked to bring Isi to the Wildlands she seems to be Ashe's only hope. So...these Elders kinda are the seers of prophecies sorta. Protect and educate and keep in line the Pantera. Genevieve is wanting to be an Elder one day. So, she been tasked to accompany Jean-Baptist to investigate Isi. She is very uptight and I mean the pants button up shirts to the chin. Tightly wound for sure. She hides her figure but he knows under all that there is something about her and she's incredibly hot. He's drawn to her and they BOTH are gagging for it. LOL. When they finally come together after all the dancing around on her part I might add its explosive! Wow! Dayum! However, things arent all that great because Genny's really mission is to KEEP Isi out of the Wildlands because the Elders think she is going to kill the Wildlands because of some stupid prophecy. She is incredibly naive and oblivious to whats going around her. SHe is so tunnel vision about becoming an Elder she doesnt realize they are wrong about Isi. She sees for herself that it is a possibility and finally comes to her senses and accepts Jean-Baptist as her mate...ugh finally! LOL.
Talon- Isi was brought to the Wildlands in Jean-Baptist's story against her will...she was unconscious. Oy. Anyways, reason she doesnt like it here is because it seriously makes her ill. Not sure why. ANyways, as she spends time there with Ashe...Ashe improves. However, the rumor is that Isi is this evil thing that is going to destroy the Wildlands completely. Thank you Elders. Raphael has put her under his protection becasue she is helping Ashe get better. Turns out that Isi and Ashe are twins. Yeah...that little jewel came out. Isi is a little freaked cause shes always been on her own. Didnt have the opportunities her sister had...even though they werent very good either still better than being an orphan her whole life. Isi is skeptical about letting anyone in. So, she is put in Talon's home to stay...which strange enough makes her feel better. Coming back for a mission he is informed by Raphael that he is to protect her and watch over Isi which pisses him off. Once he sees her though...he freaking crawls into bed with her and squeezes her bum! Ha. She freaks a little and hellooo sexual chemistry party of 2. Talon is very untrusting when it comes to Isi. He's listened to everyone that she cant be trusted. Calls her evil even which actually really stings. He's realizing that she's his mate because literally him touching her or even being close or holding her shes like all better. No sickness. Isi and Ashe are twins and their father was Chayton their previous Shamen. The story continues and we do find out that Isi's blood actually is healing the lands not killing them. We only find that out because the Elders take her and try to sacrifice her. Saga continues....
Xavier- He's the geek...the really smart guy of the Pantera. The brilliant computer guy and does an awesome job of it. He's been tasked to watching over Amalie while her brother Aristide is in quarantine with Isi. Amalie is in love with Xavier and has been for 10 years. He's never looked at her in that way according to her. Thing is he's hidden it pretty well over the years. He doesnt wanna cross that line for 2 reasons. His best friend is her brother Aristide and she is also the last Pantera born. So, that makes her special. Well...she has been smothered her whole life. Kept in a cage more or less. Not being able to live her life as she chooses. Shes been overprotected and is tired of it and waiting on Xavier. So...she takes matters into her own hands and tries to live. Of course he's there every time she turns around. LOL. I think he was horrible to her once or twice. I would not forgive so easily. He's hot and cold with her and finally he hurts her...so much she cries. Wanted to slap him upside the head a few times. He finally comes to his senses and just doesnt care what anyone thinks. He wants her and cant stay away anymore. Funny thing is after he mates her...her brother is out of quarantine and he's like about freaking time you guys mated! LOL...worried over nuthin! More traitors come about and the story continues...nothing really resolved yet. Ashe still improves but not out of the woods yet.
I honestly would have given this series a better rating if not for 2 things: I really hate when an author starts a series in KU, and then the rest is by purchase only. It's my fault for not checking before I began reading this series. The other is I absolutely hate cliffhangers, and of course that's how this book ends. Both of these authors are very talented, and I have enjoyed some of their work before (when it was available in KU). However, one thing that I should have remembered was that unless the complete series is available in KU (which it's usually not), they tend to only have a part of it in KU, but the rest is only available to purchase. Most of the people who use the KU program do so because they can't afford to purchase all of the books they read. If an author is going to use it, I believe they should have to make the entire series available, or don't use it at all. JMO! I will definitely be more aware of the authors that I read, and make sure that I don't read those who only have partial series available. Overall, this book was a great beginning to the series, but I can't honestly say how the rest would be, or if I would recommend it or not.
There are so many things wrong with this box-set that I just don't know where to start. 1) All sex, no story 2) The books end far too quickly with no development on the story 3) Books alternate between authors and it doesn't seem as if they have collaborated very well 4) It would have been better to have one book combining the story and not focusing so much on the sex. The story has potential but breaking it up by having everyone mating off and having lots of sex distracts from the story
I really struggled to work through all the books - I'd really like to get to know more about the story but it was just hard work.
I was very impressed with this box set. There were several stories of Pumas finding their mate as well as trying to save their wildlands from dark magic. I plan on buying the next box set soon.
I love Alexandra Ivy but this collection of books was just about sex and lots of it. If that's your thing then you will like this set. No real depth to the characters...just sex.
Steamy and interesting. I'm glad I didn't know about this series before, because if I'd have gotten these stories one at a time, I would have hated it.
Thoroughly enjoy the books. Will continue to read the series. Who doesn't like men that are build like greek gods and can't change into beautiful Puma.
I'm reading the 6-book bundle which I got for the ridiculously low price of .99 from AllRomance book site.
So far loving it. Sexy, dirty talking alpha Puma shifters who adore their woman. Instant attraction, tender and panty-dropping gorgeous. Complete female fantasy fodder :)
The novellas have ended with cliffhangers but all the books are available (as far as I can tell) and affordable, so considering how much I like this series after the first two, I know I'm in for the series.
Raphael #1 Ashe's mind has been washed of the one-night stand she had with sexy puma-shifter Raphael. It wouldn't be so bad but she's pregnant with no memory of how it happened. On top of that her drunkard mother has thrown her out.
Raphael finds her and there is no denying their connection. Ashe, who's grown up in the bayou has heard the stories of magical creatures living in the swamps but coming face to face with Raphael and his powers, proves the stories are true.
The groundwork is laid for the mystery of who is after Ashe and her unborn baby, which promises to be a much bigger threat to all the Panter/puma shifters. Ashe and Raphael's bond is pretty much solidified and I like that there wasn't a lot of resistance for her to accept him.
Parish #2 Oh Parish, yum. I don't know if anyone is going to live up to you, you are THAT yummy.
Parish is sent to find a human doctor to care for Ashe during her pregnancy. A human/shifter birth has never happened before, and Ashe is anxious of what to expect.
Julia has just delivered her last baby at the hospital where her unfaithful ex has been promoted and just wants to start over. Parish takes one look at Julia and knows she's his. He doesn't like humans after one killed his sister but he's never responded to a female this way.
He whisks her away to the Wildlands and she is confused by the events and the knowledge that the supernatural is real, but is drawn to her self-appointed body guard. She knows logically she should leave but doesn't really want to. Ashe, also want her stay but assures her no one will force her.
And, oh Parish and that filthy mouth, day-um. How can someone talk so dirty and still be so romantic and tender. Like I said, love him.
The story ends with another attempt on Ashe and her unborn baby who survive but a cliffhanger regarding the after affects on Ashe.
Bayon #3 by Alexandra Ivy
Bayon is on the hunt for the people responsible for the attack on Ashe and her unborn baby. The search leads him to discover Keira, Parish's sister, thought to have been killed by her human lover 25 years ago. She was in fact kidnapped and kept prisoner the entire time. Bayon always cared for her and she for him, but past misunderstandings and mis-conceptions kept them apart, but neither one will let this second chance together pass and they mate.
Keira's kidnapping is tied to troubles plaguing the Pantera, the attacks, the diminishing magic of the people. This story does well propelling the story ahead, not quite as romantic as the previous 2 but still an enjoyable contribution.
Jean-Baptiste #4 by Laura Wright Tatooed, pierced nurturer is hiding a secret, his magic is failing him and his tattoo's and piercings are laced with an alloy to help him control his cat. He is coerced by Raphael to go to New Orleans and return with the voodoun who has helped him in the hopes she can find the answer to Ashe's mysterious condition.
Genevieve is sent along with him to help but is really on an opposing mission for the elders. Sparks fly the minute they meet and their joining in amazingly hot.
Loved Genny's granparents and wish their story was longer. Ends with a twist and a cliffhanger.
#5 Talon & Isi The ongoing mystery unfolds further. We find out that Isi & Ashe are twins and their father was a Shayman. We also find out that the Pantera's enemies are trying to find him.
Just having Isi in the Wildlands helps Ashe control the strange illness afflicting her pregnancy. Problem is, being in the Wildlands makes Isi physically sick/nauseous. The only thing that settles her is Talon. He is at first distrustful of her but he quickly is attracted.
The couple are both likable but this story is more about advancing the plot than the romance, though the little bit of romance is sweet.
#6 Xavier & Amalie Xavier is a Geek Pantera. He also desires his best friend's sister, but she's special, the last Pantera cub to be born in the last 50 years. She's been in love with Xavier for years but she thinks he doesn't want her.
While I liked this story and the furthering of the storyline, I was frustrated by this couples "issues". Since there haven't been any Pantera born in 50 years and Amalie was the last that would make her 50 but she is so immature. Also, considering the Pantera are highly sexed and open about sexuality, I find it hard to believe she'd be a virgin, especially since she's a hunter. And Xavier's constant fighting his feelings got old fast. So, not my favorite couple but I liked the story.
Raphael: DNF. He's an abusive bastard who basically raped Ashe.
Parish: Love him! He was awesome, and totally worthy of being a hero. He was protective without being smothering.
Bayon: Pretty good. Didn't want to kill him like I do Raphael, but not as awesome as Parish.
Jean-Baptiste: The fifth time in as many seconds that I rolled my eyes while he was dirty-talking to her during sex, I couldn't take it anymore. No... just no. There is nothing sexy about any of that.
I'm a Louisiana native, and it's glaringly obvious the authors have never visited my beautiful state. We don't have caves, or cliffs. Especially in areas at or below sea level. Nor do we grill crawfish. You can't grill something that's two inches long. We eat it one way: boiled. Once it's been boiled and shelled, THEN it gets put in other stuff.
I give up. I no longer believe the world can exist. And all the grossly wrong stuff about New Orleans and the surrounding area is driving me bonkers.
I love this series what a great twist on shifters. I love the colorful world these two amazing authors are sharing with us. The Wildlands and the Pantera are so interesting complex and Hot hot hot. I love the way they explain the creation of these shifters the background story is awesome.
The old world feel of the selection of the job each Pantera is born for is interesting Hunters, Suits, Healers... but I especially love that in recent years they have added a new faction the Geeks. They may be traditional but they are not afraid to be progressive at the same time. The six couples in this box set are complex and so much fun to read about. I am excited to read the next stories in the series.
There isn't a rating system big enough for my rating, extremely higher than the mere 5 that GoodReads used! I can't wait to read the next boxed set of these AMAZING books! I'm dying to know more! These 2 authors are OUTSTANDING, AWESOME, & just plain GREAT writers!! These 2 writers have just been upped to a 4/way tie with my other 2 most favorite authors: J.R. Ward-Lori Foster-Alexandra Ivy-Laura Wright!!!!!!
P.S. My favorite Panera male, I found early on, is Parish. Yes even after reading all the others, he just CALLS to me for some odd reason! Don't get me wrong I LOVE THEM ALL, but it's Parish that's my favorite.
It's a collection of very similar stories, anchored in a plot not so original: shapeshifters struggling against an evil enemy, all heroes are gorgeous, all heroines are beautiful, there's a brief obstacle to their love story (mating), but this is solved fast in each story. That part I like, because I found a little hard to get interested in the main plot, and when I finally took to it, that's when I was caught. I simply want to know the end of the fight between the heroes and the villain. That's how obsessed I am. Anyway, it is enough to help us pass the time without engaging much of our attention when we are waiting for a doctor, or when we are in the subway.
I loved how each story ran into the next story. Each story is of a different character, but the stories build on each other making you want to keep reading. Each story is a short story so it doesn't take long to read them. They are very entertaining and you want to keep reading to see if the Pantera's land and their species are going to survive the evil of Shapti. Quick read and entertaining. Also hot and steamy as each story of a Pantera male includes the story of finding their lifetime mate!
I adore reading about shifters. Their animal nature mixed with men who are very sexy are an aphrodisiac to me. The plight of the Pantera is very heart warming and I found myself wanting to hurt the Goddess. These two authors write very well together yet separate. The authors created the world of the Pantera and their struggles I enjoyed reading these books. Each story was very good but together they are awesome.
It was pleasant to read, but the stories felt rushed and unfinished. To me it seems like the authors were too worried about fitting two books into the space of one, or six in the space of three in this case. Half of it was just sex and the other half was split between the plot and the romance, instead of half plot half romance with sex thrown in occassionally. That being said it was a mildly entertaining way to pass time and I don't regret reading it.
they are good stories that are connected by the mystery... I have purchased the next book in hopes to find out the ending.. I am usually not a fan of a bunch of short books with no conclusion but since the main characters change it is enjoyable. you won't regret the spend
I was kinda annoyed when the first story ended so abruptly. But when you get through this boxed set you realize that the first story continues with each book even though they are about different characters. So by the end I wasnt feeling cheated as originally had. Overall these were pretty good if you don mind them being pretty much insta love and short.
Loved the characters. Their own unique backgrounds and the history behind them. The sex was sizzling!! Would definitely recommend this book to my friends. Looking forward to the collection two.
I had put off reading the series and let me say that was mistake. I was up late a couple of nights because I just could not stop reading. Very engaging and enjoyable.
