Gabriel MacIntyre has no time for Claudia Beaumont. She's so beautiful that she takes his breath away, but she's used to having any man she wants. Claudia Beaumont has no time for Gabriel MacIntyre -- he's overwhelming and arrogant. But then Claudia's life is threatened and Mac is the only person she can turn to for help...
Hi, I'm Liz Fielding, and I'm a best selling contemporary romance author with more than 15 million books in print and Katie Fforde wrote, when honouring me with the Romantic Novelists' Association's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 said - "Liz Fielding's books, with their warmth, humour and emotion, have charmed millions of readers. She is a true star of the romantic fiction genre..."
And now I've turned to a life of crime with my first cozy mystery. Murder Among the Roses, published on 18 April 2023 - of which Katie Fforde also said, "I was gripped from beginning to end..."
Reading is a big part of my life. I love witty, contemporary romances, not too much sex,, Women's fiction by the likes of Fiona Harper, Julie Cohen, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Crusie and Barbara O'Neal. And I love crime fiction that isn't too gory, or focussed on clue hunting, but is big on character.
My best loved series at the moment are the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths, The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch and the Libby Sarjeant Mysteries by Lesley Cookman. I've just read the first in the Georgina Drake crime series from Kate Hardy and looking forward to the next.

This is the second book in the Beaumont Brides series and I thoroughly enjoyed the first. If anything I enjoyed this book a little more. This was to do with the hero and heroine who particularly engaged me. Claudia, who we met in the first book as a rather worldly, callous, even a bit bitchy actress, turns out to be so much more complex. Like the rest of us Mac, Gabriel MacIntyre saw her as shallow and self absorbed. Their journey to understanding takes place in the contect of threats to Claudia's peace of mind and even her life. Gabriel was a former soldier and security expert plunged into Claudia's life when his business partner and BIL made a fool of himself over Claudia upsetting Gabe's sister. Not a good start for the relationship especially when she crashed into his car and his hangar on the first meeting. Their relationship grows as they must spend time together meeting the threats that pile on dating from that first meeting. Both are reluctant to succumb to a relationship because of their separate history and Liz Fielding does a great job showing the development of the relationship and the impact of misunderstandings and the scars of the past on both of them. The attraction between the two sizzle even as they both fight against it and is very enjoyable to watch. Liz likes to chuck in some great humour and the odd literary reference. Yes I did get the Lady Bracknell quote near the end thanks Liz. I love it when an author makes me feel clever.
from the Author's Blog, we are given to understand that this is actually Poppy and Richard's book.
Excerpts from The Author's (Liz Fielding) Blog - Poppy, for those of you who have been with me for a while – we’re talking 1998 here – was the glamorous, older sister of Dora Kavanagh, the heroine of HIS LITTLE GIRL, my first RITA nominated book and Fergus Kavanagh, hero of A SUITABLE GROOM (he married Veronica Grant, who first appeared in GENTLEMEN PREFER ... BRUNETTES). Are you with me so far? Poppy and her husband Richard make a fairly brief, but important appearance, in HIS LITTLE GIRL, but it’s obvious that they have “a story”. Poppy and Richard do have a book, which is presumably why they feel like such “real” characters, but not as Poppy and Richard. You’ll find them as Claudia Beaumont and Gabriel McIntyre in WILD LADY.
I enjoyed this book for its mix of romance, tension, and strong chemistry between the main characters.
Gabriel MacIntyre and Claudia Beaumont don’t start off on the best terms, which immediately drew me in. Claudia is confident and independent, while Mac is intense and overbearing, and their clash makes the story interesting right from the beginning. Their attraction is obvious, but it’s layered with resistance, which made their dynamic feel real rather than predictable.
Once Claudia’s life is threatened, the story picks up and the emotional stakes become much higher. I liked how the danger pushed them closer together and allowed their relationship to grow naturally. The balance between suspense and romance worked well for me, and neither aspect felt forced.
This was an engaging, easy-to-get-lost-in read. If you enjoy romantic suspense with strong personalities, protective heroes, and a bit of drama, this book is worth picking up.
Wild Lady is okay. Liz Fielding gave me some suspense, a lot of repetition. I don't like Claudia very much she is self centered, arrogant and very damaged. Mac is tough and loyal. In my opinion Wild Lady has way too many misunderstandings. I read in The Beaumont Brides 3-in-1 Collection: Wild Justice / Wild Lady / Wild Fire.
The second in the series, this one following Claudia, the big sister of the main character in the first book. Claudia is an actress, and so of course everyone believes they know what she is like. Gabriel meets her as she takes part in a charity parachute jump, and they don't get off to a very good start. But it seems someone is threatening Claudia. Who is it and how far are they prepared to go? Gabriel appoints himself as bodyguard, and as he and Claudia get to know each other better he discovers there's far more to her than the press suggests. A straightforward plot, and an enjoyable story.
I am amazed at how much the books in this series suffer because it’s around 25 years since they were written and they haven’t aged well. it’s very interesting to note how much the political and social climate has altered in that period. Not to mention the technological changes!
Despite that, I enjoyed this one. Claudia, whom I had previously disliked and sadly, continued to dislike, was a very interesting character. I wondered if she was modelled on Elizabeth Taylor: she was certainly outrageously over the top. I couldn’t believe anyone would put up with her nonsense for long. But the book was fun!
BLM SELESAI BACA
I really liked this book. the story was good. the characters were good. so much better than wild justice. I had one issue and it was about tony and adele which was only in the book for point two five seconds but it bothered me. tony was basically let off the hook for intending to cheat on his pregnant wife because she was grouchy. don't sit well with me. this could have been left out
As with the first book in the series, I found this book drug at times. It took me longer than usual to finish it as I went several nights without reading it and didn't seem to miss it much! On to the third book, I now must go -- and hope it sucks me in -- unlike the first two so far!
This book started off nicely, with some obvious chemistry between the h/h - unfortunately too many misunderstandings and an overdone suspense plotline meant that I lost interest halfway through.
