Rate this book
A fiance for one night

That's what Jessica Delaney needed. And who better to fill the role than her surrogate brother, Jon?

Good old easygoing Jon, who could always be counted on in a crisis. Good old Jon, who in this latest emergency had unaccountably turned her down.

This was actually better than I was anticipating. I liked the leads--the flighty heroine and uptight hero--despite the fact that she felt the need to hit him or kick him in the shins a couple of times. Their demeanor and way of talking did feel a little old-fashioned, even for 1991, and I wouldn't have been surprised if this had been a story set in the late 70s maybe, except that Jon wasn't completely sexist. He would admit to his mistakes and poor treatment of Delaney. (The fact that Jon kept seizing on to any excuse not to bone her before they were married def had old-fashioned vibes.) They were amusing together and had lots of conversations, which made all their silly misunderstandings all the more frustrating, especially for such a short book. But still, it was a fun read that I found for only $1.00.
