This is one of those books which gave historical romance a bad name, in my opinion. The heroine is incredibly unbearable - selfish, stupid, whiney, spoiled - you name it, that's her. That several men should actually fall in love or lust with this phenomenon is all the more astounding, although as the action moves to Alaska, the shortage of women may help. The good news (?) is that I was reading this on a trip and so basically had to plow my way through. Big surprise, a predictable ending.
