AHHHHH IT'S SO PRETTYYY!!!!

I have been following this comic for literal years and I am so ABSURDLY HAPPY to have a physical copy in my hands!!

Not only is every single page a piece of art, Polaris and Yildun's relationship is a work of art in its own right. There's nothing like a sweet romance between a king and his knight!

This is just such a beautiful story through and through and I'm so honored to have seen it grow! I already can't wait for the next volume to come out!

Pro tip for all my fellow perverts: NSFW content is readily available on Crimson Chain's Patreon and it is *chef's kiss* GLORIOUS!

The art is out of this world, but the plot was all over the place. The world building was messy, and I really really wish the relationship would have been slowburn. We need more pining!

I am really conflicted whether I should keep reading, because the art is super gorgeous, but paying 20 quids for something I don't like that much is just not doable.

I had read part of this for free on Tapas app and I love this cute story about Polaris and Yildun. This first volume ends on chapter three, and that's more or less what I had already read, because now I'm waiting for the printed version to finish it. The art is absolutely stunning, and Tokyopop edition is gorgeous. So if you're curious you can give it a try on Tapas here but I highly recommend to get the printed edition.

this is so sad cause this book is GORGEOUS the art is genuinely incredible, but this story is a MESS. idk this author but it seems like this is a comic told by an artist - the art is wonderful, but the story makes no sense. Each chapter/scene is a page or two and we skip around like crazy - and we saw almost nothing of importance. It was overwhelming how much info we got and how we got it, and the plot was just nonsense. I hate to not like this because I wanted to so bad ug

Fantasy graphic novel with a king x knight romance. I really like this artist’s danmei fanart so I was interested in checking out their graphic novel but it was a letdown. The art is great but the characters, plot, and worldbuilding were really shallowly developed and flat. There was a lot of lame miscommunication and overly saccharine interactions. Not for me but I’m glad I gave it a try

CWs: classism, violence

Unfortunately not really to my taste.
The pacing is off with the story feeling very disjointed and episodic at times. The romance also happens very quickly.
Overall, this feels like mainly fluff and good vibes. So if you're in the mood for that this might be great.

The art is absolutely beautiful.

I thought this was fine. Story was very stereotypical. It was also very choppy. Even though it was one story, it almost read more like a bunch of interconnected one-shots.

I really liked the concept, but the execution left a lot to be desires. The dialogue was a bit immature (a few swear words aside), and the relationship happened rather quickly. Don't get me wrong, it was cute, but I guess I was expecting more angst (though of course I want their happiness. I was just expecting a bit more development, based on the description). Most of the conflict was resolved in a few pages.

The artwork in this book is absolutely stunning; vivid, detailed, and a true highlight.

As for the story, I found it a little uneven at times and not quite as engaging as I had hoped. About halfway through, my interest began to wane, and I had to make an effort to continue. That said, it wasn’t a bad read by any means; it simply could have been developed more cohesively to match the beauty of the illustrations.

⭐️⭐️⭐️❌❌/5.

The art is phenomenal but the story and formatting is abysmal. It's very obviously ported from webtoons or tapas and not reformatted well for a book.

The artist could have benefited from a writer, it feels like it was a one person job despite it having several folks in the credits.

Really loved the art-style and general set up. The storyline is cute, the characters are very loveable and it feels original -especially the magic.
The only thing that kept it from being a full 5⭐️ is that it goes really quickly into them becoming lovers. I would have loved to see some of the scenes that are put as ‘bonus’ in the interlude before the main story instead, to give them a bit of background together. Then I would’ve been fully 🥰🥰🥰 over them getting together.
Still, would love to continue reading their story, and in this universe in general.

This is one of the most BEAUTIFULLY illustrated stories I’ve ever read!

It is like TOP TIER candy for the eyes.

I wish I could taste some of these pages—which I know is weird. Don’t come for me. But, I just want to experience this story with more of my senses.

Aesthetically, it does a LOT for me. (Star freckles??? I mean, COME ON!) But, I love the whole starry vibe of it too.

The storytelling itself is quite simple—but, also very charming.

This is very much your typical royal x commoner romance—just with a queer, celestial spin.

What makes it distinct is how the author subverts some stereotypes. For example, our royal brothers don’t remain at odds forever; they actually reconcile. Further, we see no backstabbing from friends who know about the secret relationship between Polaris and Yildun.

So far, I’m super captivated by this story and I definitely want to read more. I want to see these two to have their happily ever after~

This has been on my wishlist for a long time, so when I saw a deal on it, I snapped it up.

Firstly, the art is just gorgeous! Beautifully painted pages upon pages of it!

Secondly, the story was great. We have a brother trying for the throne and a forbidden romance between a king and a knight. Though there is no steam on page, I didn't mind that. They were so good together. I'm rooting for them even while I know there are obstacles in their path.

Hopefully, another volume isn't too far off, but it is available to read digitally if I can't wait

I really loved this a lot! I loved the art and the story and the fact that they were all stars! This was just such a cool idea, and I loved everything about these characters and this lovely story!

Polaris was such a sweetie, and I loved Yildun's devotion to him! I loved how they finally found a way to be together. I really liked watching how Yildun was always there for Polaris and died over how he didn't think he was worthy, but how Polaris eventually won him over and how they admitted their feelings to each other. They were both such cuties, and I really loved them both.

This was a grand story, and I can't wait for more!

I really loved this comic. Aside from the art being absolutely beautiful, I immensely enjoyed the characters, their relationships with each other, the unique magic and the story itself. I look forward to seeing how King Polaris and his Knight Yildun overcome their Royal obstacles. I hope Alcor finds purpose, peace and happiness (possibly with the cute Prince Mirach) and continues to strengthen his relationship with his brother. (As the older sibling myself, my heart aches a bit for Alcor and I hope Polaris helps him find his way.) needless to say, I’m really looking forward to the next volume!

I picked this book up because I love the cosmic themed artwork, and I am so happy that the story also happened to be solid. A king (who is burdened with all of the normal duties of being a royal) and his knight fall in love, and they must overcome the opinions of society to be together. The king has the power to paint star creatures into existence, and that was one of my favorite parts of the book - learning how that magic system worked. The knight defends him and protects him against all threats, both within and outside of his court. They have a sweet, healthy relationship which did not feel rushed, and their love scenes are PG-13. I look forward to continuing to read this story and enjoying more of the stunning cosmic artwork.

Absolute eye candy. The art is so pretty, and every character is ridiculously gorgeous. I love the concept of painted magic. Unfortunately, the story is very much under-developed and the painting magic plays very little role. I'd give this a read because of the pretty art and story potential, but don't bring high expectations for the storytelling aspect.

Beautiful artwork, not the most inventive use of paneling. Pacing was whack, and the plot didn't have much of a through-line. The hook of volume 1's blurb is resolved entirely--something that could last an entire prose novel--within half the volume. Beyond premise, the plot is sacrificed to smush characters together without much depth at all. Personally I feel that this is the product of a skilled artist without the writing chops (yet! there is always room to improve!) to produce a grand story like the one that could have been set up, but wanted to make a graphic novel/comic, it got popular online because the artwork is understandably stunning, and a publisher snapped it up on clout. It's a fresh trend in publishing that isn't one I particularly like.

Pros:
-Beautiful artwork
-When worldbuilding does happen, there's the potential for something cool. I found the magic system unique, the world too.
-Interesting character designs

Cons:
-Rapid, haphazard pacing
-Lack of narrative depth as a result
-Inconsistent and shallow worldbuilding + magic system despite interesting premises
-Some artwork, when placed next to other panels, is too visually busy; not enough balance.
-Storylines are wrapped up as quickly as they are introduced--no core narrative identity to fall back on
-The two romances (I'm literally just copy and pasting this for both volumes b/c I read them at the same time) are introduced with very little chemistry, though the second one is a bit more apparent.
--I'm really telling on myself as being more chronically online than I want to believe I am, but I refer to books/comics/etc. like these as--and maybe I'm projecting too many theories about the behind the scenes--victims of scrunklification... a creator takes their scrunklies [OCs] and makes a body of work for them, and because they love them, they miss a lot of the things that are needed in the picture to make a solid story for their very cool character ideas! There is a cure for scrunklification, which is a heavy lesson in kill-your-darlings, good conflict, and the structure of a scene. As someone who once had this issue... there is hope.

Endnote: I really do like the art style--I hope this creator continues to make comics and hopefully we will watch them grow and improve and do some really cool things!

The art in this comic is absolutely stunning. I really appreciated the stylistic character designs and the level of detail. Even the limited color palette, dominated by blues and gold, was visually striking and added a lot to the overall atmosphere.

So why didn’t I give it 5 stars? Well, the story just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I can understand why this was a beloved webcomic. The sporadic interludes must’ve been a fun treat while waiting for a new chapter. But in print, they felt a bit jaded and random, maybe even a little saturated. This volume includes one chapter split into two parts and 14 mini-stories. I think they might have worked better as bonus content at the end of the book so the story wouldn’t take a full pause for randomness only to then pick up again.

I debated between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately, it was the pacing and the lukewarm story that didn’t quite do it for me.

If it wasn’t clear by the illustrations this was online first for those wondering. There are intermission comics between major plot points and even some behind the scenes sketch’s, character references, and AMA style mini shorts.

At first I was concerned about the pacing and jumpiness of it, but by the first 30-ish pages that irons out pretty well. By the end I was quite happy with how it had all panned out and was paced even if the first chapter or so was a little rough around the edges.

The art is to die for though. Definitely the strongest part of this. The style is both messy and clean and almost like a paint brush stroke (which makes sense thematically). Character design is fantastic too. ✨

The story itself is simple and rather cozy romance with the hint of class divide.

Overall would pick up the next book and will probably hunt down the author online to follow.

5 stars!!!
I was drawn to the art (but I'm no stranger to boys-love) and it was honestly an amazing discovery. A gem of a webtoon turned into a traditionally published book. Did I mention the art is absolutely GORGEOUS?! The story is engaging and cute and I just had to immediately preorder the next volume, thankfully it's coming out in a week or so. If you are a fan of BL, you will 100% love this.
It's also important to remember that the pacing may appear too fast/all over the place, but it's because webtoons are meant to be enjoyed as "small slices" and webtoon authors need to "cram" enough into one episode to keep people reading week after week. It may not translate as well into traditional publishing as a result without major alterations, but if you keep in mind that the original media was a weekly webtoon, it makes sense.

Discover the celestial, forbidden romance between Polaris and Yildun. This manga is gorgeously saturated with a blue-toned color scheme that just pops! It’s adorable and the drama is so, so good.

Drama, duty, devotion, romance… ahhh, this story was so nice 😌🩷 Also, dear GOD, everyone in here is beautiful. If you’re in the mood for a celestial, royal romance between a young king and his devoted knight… look no further.

Who is this manga for
This title is perfect for fans of earnest, forbidden (and devoted) romance! And it has loads of color, so if you fancy some well-saturated pages, you will be well-fed.

Annoyingly cute!

The character designs for this are spectacular! The artwork was gorgeous and I couldn't get enough of Polaris and Yildun's designs! I loved the story, as well. The concept is really unique and I love how much Yildun admires Polaris' skill.

I'm a sucker for royal/knight stories. I loved that Polaris saves himself in this at least once. I enjoyed the conflict over the kingdom reacting poorly to their king marrying a knight instead of another royal. I also enjoyed the story between Polaris and his brother Arcturus.

I'm excited for the next part!

I've followed this creature on social media as soon as I ran across them I knew I was hooked. To realize they were officially getting published and I would be able to purchase the kindle edition and help support their dream. I instantly knew I needed it.

While the first volume of course is only the beginning of the story I already love the art, a full color edition.
I hope to learn more of the world Crimson has created.

If you are looking for a sweet but full love story (that is PG-13 in romance department) I highly recommend picking up a copy of this! You won't regret it!

Join King Polaris and his valiant knight Yildun as they navigate their secret romance and deal with enemies from other Star Kingdoms! An incredibly beautiful story with absolutely stunning art to match! I've followed the author on social media for a long time and I couldn't be happier for her with the publication of Star Crossed! I'm excited to see what more comes from her amazing mind and skilled hands!

Beautifully drawn artwork and equally beautiful story! First off, let me start by saying, I LOVE the art style of this volume. The colors were gorgeous and I equally appreciated that the speakers had different colored bubbles to follow along. Polaris and Yildun’s relationship was a cute storyline, though I wish there a little more slow burn and pining thrown in. Fairly quick and easy read with well-done panels and plot. Hopeful to see more of these two in the future!

full color book, reads left to right, webcomic vibes - the pacing was weird to me

The art is very pretty, but there's a chaotic quality to it that makes my OCD brain feel... taxed, I guess.

There's not a ton of action. I'd say it's, like, 80% relationship stuff, but it's also volume 1 so maybe that's why, just buildin-block stuff.

I wanna know what the red-haired prince guy is up to so I'll prolly give volume 2 a try at some point.
