A proven plan to reverse prediabetes and type 2 diabetes with manageable changes to improve your life.
If you are struggling with type 2 diabetes, obesity, or hypertension, you should know two important
1) It is not your fault. 2) It is your responsibility to turn things around.
The truth is that the hardship caused by type 2 diabetes is fueled by profit-seeking food manufacturers. And while it is easy to place blame on the food industry, it is also important to understand our own roles in creating these circumstances.
You might wonder why, if type 2 diabetes is reversible, it is commonly treated as a lifelong condition. The answer might shock It is being treated that way because it is profitable to treat it that way. It is a lot more profitable to sell drugs to treat lifelong conditions than to show people how to turn them around.
But here's the good it doesn't have to be this way.
In this book, Eric Edmeades and Dr. Ruben Ruiz give you a solid, step-by-step plan that just might reverse the condition for you. Over the course of 9 weeks, you'll learn how to make subtle changes to your lifestyle and deep changes to your psychology. You'll look at what you eat, when you eat it, and why you eat it. You'll begin to move your body into a primarily fat-burning metabolism and away from your current sugar-burning metabolism, learn more about seasonal eating, and reap the benefits of cyclical eating patterns.
By the end of this program, you will have a clear understanding of the way the seasons work in concert with your body, and how you can turn around your type 2 diabetes and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
I appreciated the info on how our body has evolved and how to optimize functioning, but I will not be going keto and/or water fasting for 3 day periods every month, so I am not gonna be a success story of their program any time soon
This is an extraordinary book that combines insightful information on diabetes, other lifestyle diseases, and the food industry with a practical 9-week program designed to reverse prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. As someone deeply fascinated by the idea of taking control of one's biology and preventing disease rather than just treating symptoms, this book was right up my alley.
What initially drew me to "Postdiabetic" was twofold. As a health coach, I'm always looking to update my knowledge to better help my clients, and more and more of them unfortunately come to me with (pre)diabetes. Besides that, I've known about Eric Edmeades for a few years, and his previous work has had an incredible impact on me.
The book did not disappoint. It clearly explains how the food industry has manipulated public perception for profit, a topic I was somewhat aware of but had never seen so clearly articulated. The most eye-opening revelation for me, however, was the reframe of type 2 diabetes from a chronic disease to a repetitive strain injury. This perspective shifts diabetes, and even other so-called lifestyle diseases, from being an inevitable fate to a condition we can actively work to prevent and possibly even reverse.
While I'm familiar with WILDFIT, arguably Eric's most famous program, "Postdiabetic" offers a more focused, updated approach specifically tailored for those dealing with diabetes. This targeted plan makes it an excellent starting point for those new to lifestyle interventions for disease, especially those newly diagnosed with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. That said, the book’s 9-week program is a valuable guide even for those experienced with WILDFIT, as it incorporates the latest insights and a specialized focus on diabetes.
I wholeheartedly recommend "Postdiabetic" to anyone concerned about diabetes, whether personally affected or not. Some of the well-backed statistics in the book comparing diabetes to COVID-19 are startling, highlighting the pandemic-like proportions of this disease. However, instead of fear-mongering, the book offers a clear, actionable plan to prevent and potentially reverse diabetes. For those with (pre)diabetes, this book is indispensable. It convincingly argues that with the proper interventions, as outlined in the 9-week plan, you can significantly reduce or even eliminate your need for medication.
In summary, "Postdiabetic" is not just a book; it’s a lifeline. Its hopeful message and practical guidance make it a must-read for everyone. Highly recommended!
"'PostDiabetic' by Eric Edmeades and Dr. Ruben Ruiz provides an enlightening narrative on the realities of pre and type 2 diabetes. The authors adeptly merge medical insights with practical steps, guiding readers through a transformative process that not only informs but empowers. My journey breaking sugar addiction and gaining vitality through their teachings has been remarkable. This book is an essential resource for anyone looking to understand the impact of lifestyle choices on health."
There is so much great information in this book. Will I follow the program to the letter? Probably not. But I will use the ideas in this book to make better choices? Definitely! The insights regarding the food industry alone will make me look at the things I buy and eat much differently. Knowledge is power.
I found the concept of diabetes as an injury that can be healed to be quite interesting. I appreciated the insight into the influence corporations have on what we eat. I definitely learned some things from this book that I’ll carry forward in my journey as a type 2 diabetic.
