By arranging the rescue of her estranged husband, David, from a prison camp in Central America, Chris Spencer could try to make up to him for walking out on their marriage four years earlier.
She'd never dreamed they would rediscover love, but their weeks in the oceanfront cabin on Vancouver Island were filled with happiness.
The idyll was short-lived. A woman waited back in Central America and David had no choice but to ensure her safety. Chris knew she must let him go. She could only pray that this time when he came home, it would be forever.

3.25 stars This is something all romance readers know, if there isn't a misunderstanding, how will we get a romance? But this one is ridiculous. H/h have been legally separated for four years and share two kids. h lives an isolated life cause everyone hates her for walking out on the AMAZING hero. Her-in-laws, hero's friends, and even the hero. However, the heroine arranges a daring rescue for the hero. The hero is being held in a South American country for the past nine months. Our paragon of virtue nurses him, even putting up with his anger.
When they reveal her reasons for her walking out, I wanted to go WTF! So after eight years of marriage, she couldn't breathe in their fast-moving, wealthy lifestyle? This would have been believable if they had a new marriage. But eight years? The hero was of course a workaholic! When he asked what was wrong, she couldn't tell him. WTF!!
Four years later she has regrets and wants to help him. Soon, they fall into an orgy of love-making that fills close to hundred pages, I think. There are of course loads of tears from the heroine! She is evil. Then we get double standards as well. Heroine remained chaste and celibate. Our poor hero couldn't have dealt with if she had taken a lover.
We learn quite at the beginning that hero had a brief affair with a heroine look-alike that ended. Then, for our AMAZING hero that woman sells herself to the man holding him prisoner. Now after all the loving hero has to tell her about the woman. She KNOWS! He also has to tell her he has to go back to rescue her. After much hemming they talk, heroine says she is not jealous as she feels connected to OW! I was like HUH?
Of course heroine ends up preggers! One thing I did enjoy is the hero always intending to come back to h. He wanted to only rescue OW. OW of course becomes all I love orphans and want to help people. After this we get the end. I had weird expressions while reading this. But it did entertain me.
H weak, spoiled and petty, after separating (the heroine is a fool), the first thing he did was find a lover to save his face at the end of the world where he hid. As always, leaving it up to his lover and his ex to sort out his life, he went back with his ex and didn't tell her, until he couldn't anymore. At the beginning of the book, the heroine seemed like a strong woman, but then, a real amoeba !!!!! h accepted everything, all that was left was to bring his lover to their house. Anyway... Meh. I wasted my time, I'm just warning you, at your own risk.
