Rate this book

If you are struggling with type 2 diabetes, obesity, or hypertension, you should know two important

1) It is not your fault.
2) It is your responsibility to turn things around.

The truth is that the hardship caused by type 2 diabetes is fueled by profit-seeking food manufacturers. And while it is easy to place blame on the food industry, it is also important to understand our own roles in creating these circumstances.

You might wonder why, if type 2 diabetes is reversible, it is commonly treated as a lifelong condition. The answer might shock It is being treated that way because it is profitable to treat it that way. It is a lot more profitable to sell drugs to treat lifelong conditions than to show people how to turn them around.

But here's the good it doesn't have to be this way.

In this book, Eric Edmeades and Dr. Ruben Ruiz give you a solid, step-by-step plan that just might reverse the condition for you. Over the course of 9 weeks, you'll learn how to make subtle changes to your lifestyle and deep changes to your psychology. You'll look at what you eat, when you eat it, and why you eat it. You'll begin to move your body into a primarily fat-burning metabolism and away from your current sugar-burning metabolism, learn more about seasonal eating, and reap the benefits of cyclical eating patterns.

By the end of this program, you will have a clear understanding of the way the seasons work in concert with your body, and how you can turn around your type 2 diabetes and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

This is a book that has some interesting information in it.
It's analysis of the companies that manufacture products that contain fats and sugars is right on target! For example, the corporations that put so much sugar into manufactured "foods" are trying to keep us buying and eating their products, so who do they blame for so many of us being overweight? They point at the fats that are in our foods. They are both right and greed is responsible. I needed that reminder, and have begun to reexamine the foods I buy.
The main focus in the book is to return people to the eating patterns that we were used to before civilization started, in other words when we were hunter gatherers. My problem with this eating pattern is wihout supervision, which they would LOVE to provide at a price, I don't see this as a practical way to move off of medications without medical supervision.
They tell you to only read about the diet suggested one week at a time. I would advise no one follow their diet without reading the whole book!
I did like the suggestings for change during the first 3 weeks or so, like the addition of more fruits and vegetables. I like some of the recipes at the back of the book, but there should be MORE!
Also, beware! They repeat some of their admonitions frequently, probably because you are supposed to be reading only one section/week at a time.
Read the entire book and use it to improve your diet.

While I am neither diabetic or pre-diabetic, I was intrigued by the premise of this book. While I found their theories/arguments interesting, I was disappointed by the lack of specificity in their instructions. Additionally, I felt like their were too many times where instead of going into more details, they referred you to look at a video on a website, etc.

The premise is good but the book goes astray quickly. Apparently this new approach requires no will power but not very far in advocates a 3 + day fast and giving up all caffeine and alcohol. I’ve guess I’ve got a different definition of will power.
