I think this volume is a good series-opener, main characters are introduced and the mystery of a woman who might or might not kill her ex husband eight years ago, and the mystery of the Buddhist cult and their sex ritual are both being introduced quite nicely, the manga-ka had done a great job summarizing and trimming down the wordy and long winded writing of Natsuhiko Kyogoku (I'm not saying that I don't like his writing, but goodness, it really is long winded), presenting everything in a neat and easily understandable way for the readers, will go to read the next volume.

The manga author Aki Shimizu continued the adaptation of Natsuhiko Kyogoku’s “Hyakki Yakou” series with the third novel, “Kyoukotsu no Yume” or “Dreams of Mad Bones”. It continues to build on the themes from earlier books like “Ubume no Natsu” and “Mouryou no Hako”, like crime, suspense, body horror, psychological trauma, and esoteric rituals.

The character designs for this series rely heavily on the manga author’s design aesthetics. This gave the series from “Ubume no Natsu” to “Kyoukotsu no Yume” its signature feel. In fact, it influenced the anime adaptation of “Mouryou no Hako” from Madhouse.

Still following the struggling author(now he's famous), the shinto priest & the journalist trio with their two other friends, the cop & private detective but on a different case for this series. The story opens up with a woman, experiencing having two different memories. It's been 8 years since her husband is murdered and now, she's having this sort of 'memory' that she's the one who killed her own husband. But evidence contradicts her.

Great intro to the story. A serious confusion projected to the readers as well.

The second chapter in which the guy becomes obsessed with Freud was hilarious and at the same time added more mistery to the woman's tale.
