Rate this book
After being humiliated and having her heart broken, Cara vowed to never let love cloud her better judgments again. She knows the warning signs, she's seen the red flags, and she's now picking up the pieces and moving forward with her life.

Jason felt the effects of humiliation and heartbreak as well. He's realized the error of his ways and wants nothing more than to prove to Cara that he can be the man that she needs him to be.

Past secrets, family members, and new players threaten to keep the couple apart. Will a newly enlightened Cara be able to wade through the murky waters and find happiness with Jason, or will her heart and the outside forces keep the two apart?

Red Flags left us on such a cliffhanger, that I wasn't sure how she could top it. But she did! She brings you right back to the story line and keeps you interested. She managed to keep the story fresh by keeping with the original story-line but allowing for advancement in each character, which in turn caused new and interesting plot twists and developments.
-- The Little Black Book Blog

Jason won my heart in this book. He proved he could be more and that his past can’t rule his present. He stepped over the people holding him back, let go of the guilt and made right what he wronged with Cara.

C.C. Brown did a wonderful job with these characters and their emotions and I really just loved them! Both Red Flags and Enlightened are both wonderful reads
--Swoon Worthy Books

In Red Flags Jason and I had a love hate relationships but this time...I am so in love with him. Now that his secrets are revealed he really shows his sweet side, but don't worry there is still a sexy bad boy in there too. He's more like the reformed bad boy, just when you think he's changed he pulls out a sneaky little trick!

Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife! :)

I love to write, even if it isn't what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I'm learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!
I won't put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, "I can't own people's reactions to it." Thanks for reading my work... I do appreciate it!

★★★★! Enlightened, book 2 of 2. The conclusion of über-hot, possessive, bossy & enigmatic Jason’s and Cara’s story of secrets, deceit, lies, villains and more!

"That's only because what we have is deep. Its pain and pleasure mixed into one."
~ Jason (Book 1)

Hero: Jason Bradley/26 years/Texan/CEO-heir to an oil fortune/dark brown hair/brown eyes
Heroine: Cara Pinkston, aka Cars aka Pinks/22 years/Californian/Caucasian-Latin/marketing manager/brown hair/hazel eyes

This is the conclusion of Jason’s and Cara’s story. We met and followed them on a roller-coaster ride of villains, secrets and deceit in book 1, Red Flags. Coming back from the absolute chocker of the cliffhanger at end of book 1, I was quick to open up book 2 only to find myself with yet another chocker.

Once everything calmed down, for a big part of the first third of this book we get to follow Cara as she is growing a backbone, embarking on a new life and a new career. All this, while Jason is MIA. There is an undercurrent stirring, new characters are entering and taking their positions, staking their claims. New villains are surfacing. And I was (im)patiently waiting, longing for Jason to come back and also I getting anxious, because there were news filtering through of big changes in his life as well.

Jason in book 1 was so many things I love in a hero. First off he was sinfully handsome, sexy, rich, entitled and an heir to an oil fortune. He was also jealous, possessive and domineering with a temper. But as his secrets were revealed we learned that there were layers to him and under the facade he had endured much in his upbringing being the “black sheep” of his family.
“My family is all sorts of f~cked up. Money is just a way to hide the problems…”

In book 2 we will see some maturity on Jason’s part. We will also see him making big changes working to control his behavior and temper, which was not necessarily something I welcomed as I like the over-the-top jealous, entitled and bossy heroes. But attempting to change and succeeding are two separate matters as Jason will soon learn. You are going to have to read the story to learn if he succeeds.
“Please, Cara. I’m not above begging…”

As for Cara; in book 1 we met a likable a sweet and sometimes annoying heroine who pretty much let everyone around dictate her life. Jason was no exception. And Cara loved the domineering and controlling side of him. It was Jason’s secrets and not opening up that frustrated her. In this book Cara is showing strength, having graduated and started her new career. It may come as chocker, but I think I preferred the old Cara. I am all about strong woman in life (and in books providing I get a good hero) and I welcome Cara feeling empowered. That said, she may have taken it too far at times. For example in her job situation she came across as immature, unprofessional and out-right improper.

I don’t want to reveal too much as I want you to enjoy the story. But I will say this: Once Jason and Cara get together it’s electrifying and the story is once again a roller-coaster of secrets and lies, villains and foes as Jason and Cara tries to navigate and work through only to have everything unraveling and coming to a huge blow-out towards the end of the story.

The Red Flag series has been a very enjoyable read for me, much thanks to Jason. I might have preferred book 1 just a little more, but only because I am partial to the volatile Jason:
"Necessity f~ck?" I asked, half amused by his lingo.
"Yes, it was necessary that I enjoyed what I've been missing, while you learned that I only f~ck one body at a time..." (Book 1)

Book 2 depicted a more mature Jason and Cara and though it was also a bumpy ride, it ended up being a feel good conclusion to their story; “Red flags” to “Enlightened”.

C.C. Brown is an excellent story-teller. An outstanding debut series with a memorable hero, Jason Bradley! Kudos Ms. Brown!

I hate to say it, but I almost like the first one better (somebody shoot me please). Jason was a decent human being in this one (though I'm still baffled as to why he and Cara are so in love ). The issues from the cliffhanger that ended the first book were resolved with way less drama and angst then I expected. This SHOULD have made me happy (since the insane drama in the first book left me with a pounding headache) , except it left me with a relatively unexciting book. We have a new "villain" in this story - but he didn't hold even a candle to the crew from the last book.

Overall an ok wrap up to Jason and Cara's story. Three stars for the miracle of semi-realistically turning one of my all time least favorite heroes into a decent guy.

I can't say enough about Author C.C. Brown! She has taken me on yet another roller-coaster of emotions with Cara and Jason. So, like I knew that Jason really had some explaining to do after the shit he pulled, but I would have never imagined the lengths that he would take.

Literally had me going:

I was thrilled to see it though. Jason and Cara are perfect for each other, but that doesn't mean that they don't have to work for it... Enlightened definitely will keep you turning pages furiously to find out what happens next. With some new characters thrown in the mix... Oh My! is all I can really say. It is really something you have to experience first-hand. *chuckles* Just trust me.

I did not want this story to end! For the moments that I held my breath, laughed out loud, and wiped a stray tear from my eye.... I could ride this roller-coaster again and again.

This is how excited I am for everyone to read Enlightened:

Let me just start off by saying that, differences aside, Jason definitely took my heart and ran with it in this book!

Wow is all I can manage. Ms. Brown did and amazing job. I love how Cara becomes bolder in this one. She faces life's obstacles and even though she was shattered, she starts to heal. She stood up for herself a lot and I was silently rooting her on.

When the people meet Damian, they will hate him for sure. No brainer right there.

But when Jason comes back, it's definitely SWOON TIME! I don't think I could have loved him more. Even in Red Flags I knew he was a redeemable character. He had his flaws, but who doesn't? Nobody's perfect and I'm glad the author puts that out there.

I felt awful for Chase but in the end was glad she didn't run to him for support. This book was fabulous and I can't wait until the others read it. Hopefully everyone's Team Jason in the end!!!

I loved both of these books but book 2 was amazing... I loved reading the development of Jason and his own self enlightenment, to stand up for who the man he wanted to be no matter the consequences! Cara made him want to be a better man to be a man that cara could be proud of. Cara had learnt a lot about her own self and he strength I was so happy to see her stand up for her self and not be the push over she was in book one. Thank you for a wonderful books am looking forward to the next one :)

C.C. did not disappoint with her second book in the Red Flags Series.
I rooted for Jason even though he was a controlling a-hole in the first book but was so glad when he redeemed himself. You really get to see just how much he loves Cara in this book. My dear Cara frustrated me at times but she finally sticks up for herself. Overall a great book that ties all the loose ends from the first book. Definitely will be looking forward to more of C.C. Brown.

Conclusion of Red Flags by C.C. Brown. Please if you have NOT read Red Flags do NOT read this review!

After the blow up that took place in Heath and revealing all the secrets that Jason has kept hidden from Cara she finds herself brokenhearted. Now back home she tries to decide how to pick up the pieces that are left of her heart and move on with her life without Jason.

Her heart still aches for the love that Jason showed her. Her body still craves the feel of him on her, but her mind is telling her to forget about him and move on. After everything they have been through she isn’t sure she will ever be able to give her heart away – most of it is still with Jason.

After losing the one girl that made him want to be a better person, Jason takes a step back and looks at his life and what he needs to do to not only clean it up but also to hopefully win back the girl that he pushed away with the lies and secrets that he kept hidden from her. Secrets he was afraid to tell her because he was afraid of losing her.

With everything on the table and all parties involved being enlightened on the dirty secrets of Jason’s past, will Cara listen to her heart and forgive Jason or will her mind and doubt win in the end of end whatever future they could have had.

Will Jason’s dirty past and dark secrets ruin the one good thing that has ever happened to him? Or will he stand back and make a change? How far will Jason go to win back the love of his life and the question is will she be there waiting for him?

“I love you so much. I want to make things in our world right again. I want your face to be the last thing I see at night before I go to bed, and I want it to be the first thing I see in the morning when I wake up.”

~~~~~~~Ena’s thoughts~~~~~~~~
Cara, well what can I say about her. She really bugged me in this book. I understand she was hurt and she was guarding her heart from getting hurt further but I wanted to smack her many many times throughout this book. She was always so worried about what everyone else thought and it DROVE ME INSANE!!!!!! I wanted her to just follow her heart and say screw everyone else, it was her life not theirs.
I wanted to tell Cara exactly what Hunter told her and for her to actual LISTEN….
“Cara, you are the only one you should be listening to. If you want to go back then go back. If you don’t, then don’t. You can’t let anyone else dictate your feelings.”
THANK YOU HUNTER!!!! AMEN!!!!!
Oh but wait guys get this there is a new guy now too – Damien aka Italian Stallion…Oh I wanted to like him and in the beginning I kind of did – he was hot and sin and very cocky but he made it oh so sexy but HELLO douche alert! Ugh – can’t stand the guy!!! He deserves, what’s her name again – oh yes HOE BAG Stacey!!
I adored Jason from the very first time I met him in Red Flags and even after EVERYTHING that happened at the end of that book I still love him. I believed in him, I wanted him to win Cara’s heart. Yes he was cocky and had a bad temper – but he loved hard and he would do anything just to have Cara by his side.
Jason truly does love Cara and being apart from her crushed him – he was like a broken man that I wanted to fix and hell if Cara didn’t want him I would take him and love him HARD.
“You have no idea what those words meant to me, Cara. I felt like you had gutted me right there on the floor. People can say whatever they want to me, but your words mean the most, and definitely cut the deepest.”
Jason showed so much growth in this book – he knew he needed to change some things and he was willing to do that not only for Cara but for himself. I will forever heart Jason Bradley! He says some of the sweetest and sexiest things and his dirty talk – holy hell! Panty changer! He loves her and wants to make it right.
“Gorgeous, you’ve got me --- all of me.” HELLO SWOON WORTHY!!
Now even though Jason is all sweet and sexy as hell – he still has his temper which I find oh so sinfully sexy makes me want to do naughty things to him.
“I’m going to let you walk out of here, without so much as a wrinkle on your pretty little designer suit. But if you ever come near Cara again, I’ll beat your ass so quick you won’t know if I’m coming or going.” -----BOOM!!!
I was rooting for Jason from page 1 and I continued to root for him throughout Enlightened as well! Jason and Cara deserve their happiness after everything they went through. I adore C.C. Brown for giving for creating this love story between these 2 characters because it’s all very realistic and something you could see in everyday life.
So I could seriously keep going and keep quoting and keep telling you how sexy Jason is and how much I love his character but what I can say was that I loved this series. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Enlightened and find out what happened with their relationship. C.C. Brown did a wonderful job with these characters and their emotions and I really just loved them! Both Red Flags and Enlightened are both wonderful reads
I very seldom get girl crushes. To date I have had 3; Mila Kunis = girl crush, Emila Clarke = girl crush, Zoe Saldana = girl crush. I am adding C.C Brown to my list. She wrote a book that I would have loved to have written. When she wrote that Hoobastank’s “The Reason” as the theme to this book it was destiny that I would become a fan. I am very excited that I have discovered her as an author and grateful that she has shared her work with us. I have been sitting at work with my Kindle on my lap reading and praying that today is the day my supervisor doesn’t need to ask me anything directly so I could finish this book. I finished the book!
After I finished Red Flags last night I realized something about myself that I had chosen to ignore. I am a little crazy when I read. I was talking out loud to myself, yelling at characters, yelling about situations, cussing characters out, sighing with relief, sighing with frustration. Then I went and Enlightened. I can’t believe she made me love Jason Bradley. I wanted to punch him a 1000 times in Red Flags for making me love him even though he was nuts. Then in Enlightened I could not stop cheering for him to get the girl and have his HEA. I wont go into details about this book, the synopsis is above and I want to keep it spoiler free, but man I am shelving this as to be read again in the near future.
I'm not gonna lie, I was a little iffy going into Enlightened because Red Flags was just an okay read for me. Cara was too immature and Jason was too controlling and possessive and I found myself skimming pages. Red Flags didn't really grab ahold of me until the last couple of pages. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really enjoyed Enlightened and Cara and Jason grew on me.
The story picks right back up where Red Flags left off and I really expected Cara to run right back to Jason but was proud of her for standing her ground, even though I didn't think Jason was guilty of what he was accused of, I think he needed to get some of his issues under control. Cara and Jason both experience tons of personal growth and maturity in Enlightened and you can clearly see C.C.'s writing skills develop in this book!
If you read Red Flags and weren't a fan you should def give Enlightened a try, I think you'll be surprised! 4 stars.
This is the conclusion of Jason's and Cara's story. We met them in book 1, Red Flags I please read this first to fully understand the story. After a severe blow up that took place in Heath and revealing all the secrets that Jason has kept hidden from Cara she finds herself brokenhearted. Now while back at home she tries to decide how to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and try to forget Jason. Only for her it seems to be difficult she still loves him so much and her body still wants him. Jason will do everything and anything he can to win her back he loves her for than life itself.
This story will have you laughing, crying, and at times wanting to toss your kindle or other device at the wall.
Kudos to C.C Brown for an excellent ending to this series, I will miss Jason and Cara.
*Woohoo* my BBF Jason Bradley is back and what, what!! I read this book in 1 day...maybe less time haha BUT it was soooooo good and so worth the wait.
The character developments were so amazingly good. Jason will always be Jason but improvements were made and I fell in love with him even more. *Swoon* Cara grew and I am so impress with her in this book I am glowing lol
This book I thought flowed beautifully and every question I had from Red Flags got answered and then some :)
Jason's journey is so heart warming...I nearly cried!!
I highly recommend this book to any and everyone. I liked Red Flags so much but I LOVE Enlightened. Awesome job C.C. <3
Liked bk#1 better
This is the sequel to "Red Flags" which ended with a cliffhanger. This book had a few editing and proofreading mistakes but other than that it was fine. It just didn't have that "what's going on" feeling that the first book had. It has a completely different vibe. That's not to say that it's not an enjoyable read either.
At the end of the first book, Cara hears ALL of Jason's secrets from his miserable brother, Jacob and leaves Texas with Chelsea. Devastated, she refuses to see him or talk to him, instead she throws herself into her new job. Only her boss insists on her pleasing their newest client, no matter what. Damian Rossi, is the new owner of a basketball team looking to go pro and Cara's newest client. When he runs into her at Chelsea's engagement party and sees Jason trying to talk to her, he starts asking questions he has no business asking.
Damian and Jason have a past, and it's not good. When Jason was done dating Stacey, she started dating Damian. But, still snuck around with Jason because he was her addiction. Jason who didn't want a relationship with Stacey was fine with a night here or there until he found out that she was dating Damian as well. Damian thought it was the other way around, that she was serious with Jason but was cheating to be with him.
From then on, he starts warning Cara about Jason, calling him names, criticizing her work because she is spending time with him, and threatens to get her in trouble. He sets up fake lunchs when he knows that she has other plans with Jason, etc. He enjoys making Cara's life hell at the office. with sexual harassment and stealing her phone and writing nasty texts from him to her purposely so Jason would see it, the man was on a mission. What he didn't know was that she has a her very protective boyfriend who would do anything for her...even destroy the man's dream.
Read on!
The twisted and very complex jacked relationship of Cara and Jason. You would think that Cara could just walk away and forget Jason from what she learned about him but nope that would never happen. Jason is embedded so deep under Cara’s skin that she can’t rid of him that fast. The heart ache and pull that she has with Jason is still strong between the two. Even down to her two best friend Chels and Mila are even divided on who she should be with. Everyone has an opinion on who she should be with but it really is up to Cara to make that difficult choice.
Even when she starts her new job you would think that she could start a new fresh chapter that is free from Jason but where would all the angst and drama come from. Her first assignment is to work very closely with Damian, a guy that harbors bad feelings towards Jason and had ties to Stacey. This guy is a piece of work. He does all kinds of things to her and paints a picture to her boss that she isn’t doing a good job. A person like that will get what’s coming to him; cuz what comes around goes around.
Stacey is still telling everyone that the baby she is having belongs to Jason and even takes it to the news. The big show down comes at the end when a paternity test is needed to find out who the baby daddy is. How slutty can one girl get when you need to test three guys to figure out who your baby daddy is.
Jason is trying so hard to work thru his problems and thru Hunter Cara is told that Jason is doing everything to break ties with his family. He is still contacting her and telling her he still loves him. When Cara does talk to him, she finds out that he is taking an anger management class and goes to her brother and parents to lay everything out and own up to everything that he has done and how he has wronged her and what his plan is to make it up to her.
The ending was sweet, just wish we got to see more of their future together. Jason is becoming the man that she wants and needs in her life. Life is all good and happy for Cara and Jason.
The first half of this book is mostly about Cara. She's nursing her broken heart over everything that happened in Heath. She starts her new job which introduces us to new characters (hot boss, hot client, sweet and supportive assistant, and jealous and bitchy receptionist). The new job is very challenging and the reason for most of the drama.
Jason is much more mature in this book. He is working on himself and giving Cara space and time to think things through while quietly and consistently letting her her know he loves her.
Throughout the book I despised Damien (hot client) more and more, but I loved how things ended for him. Muwahahahaha.
We finally learn why Mila and Ryan hate Chase so much and its goooooooood!
Cara has her moment with Stacey and I almost felt sorry for the bitch......almost.
The epilogue was great!
Enlightened was a perfect sequel. Loved it!!
