This is the sequel to "Red Flags" which ended with a cliffhanger. This book had a few editing and proofreading mistakes but other than that it was fine. It just didn't have that "what's going on" feeling that the first book had. It has a completely different vibe. That's not to say that it's not an enjoyable read either.
At the end of the first book, Cara hears ALL of Jason's secrets from his miserable brother, Jacob and leaves Texas with Chelsea. Devastated, she refuses to see him or talk to him, instead she throws herself into her new job. Only her boss insists on her pleasing their newest client, no matter what. Damian Rossi, is the new owner of a basketball team looking to go pro and Cara's newest client. When he runs into her at Chelsea's engagement party and sees Jason trying to talk to her, he starts asking questions he has no business asking.
Damian and Jason have a past, and it's not good. When Jason was done dating Stacey, she started dating Damian. But, still snuck around with Jason because he was her addiction. Jason who didn't want a relationship with Stacey was fine with a night here or there until he found out that she was dating Damian as well. Damian thought it was the other way around, that she was serious with Jason but was cheating to be with him.
From then on, he starts warning Cara about Jason, calling him names, criticizing her work because she is spending time with him, and threatens to get her in trouble. He sets up fake lunchs when he knows that she has other plans with Jason, etc. He enjoys making Cara's life hell at the office. with sexual harassment and stealing her phone and writing nasty texts from him to her purposely so Jason would see it, the man was on a mission. What he didn't know was that she has a her very protective boyfriend who would do anything for her...even destroy the man's dream.
