True to his words, Sheriff Clem Peterson sends Agnes Barton and Eleanor Mason packing to Florida via a Cessna, but things go haywire when during a fuel stop, two men shoot the pilot. Agnes springs into action slamming the door just as shots are fired while Frank Alton jumps into the cockpit flying them out of there.

When they land in Florida, they’re asked tough questions by Putner and Palmer from Homeland Security. They keep asking if they found a packet on board the plane, a packet that Agnes has tucked in her purse, but they never mention what’s in the packet. She decides to hold onto it; after all it contains twenty-five thousand in cash.

Sheriff Calvin Peterson, Sheriff Clem Peterson’s brother, picks them up from the airport in Florida, but tells them the bad news. His brother Clem made arrangements for them to stay at Sunny Brooke Retirement Village and work as the hired help to pay for their room and board. They go unwillingly, but discover in town that two maids have disappeared at Sunny Brooke.

It’s a race against the clock; will Agnes and Eleanor solve the case of the missing maids and finally figure out what happened to their pilot before they also show up on a milk jug?

When Madison Johns began writing at the age of forty-four, she never imagined she'd make it onto the USA Today best-selling books list with her first cozy mystery, Armed and Outrageous, as an independent author. Sure, this book is an Amazon bestseller, but USA Today?

Although sleep-deprived from working third shift, she knew if she used what she had learned while caring for senior citizens to good use, it would result in something quite unique. The Agnes Barton Senior Sleuths mystery series has forever changed Madison's life, with each of the books making it onto the Amazon bestseller's list for cozy mystery and humor.

Madison is a member of Sisters In Crime. Madison is now able to do what she loves best and work from home as a full-time writer. She has two children, a black lab, and a hilarious Jackson Chameleon to keep her company while she churns out more Agnes Barton stories with a few others brewing in the pot.

I thoroughly enjoy cozy mysteries and this one with senior investigators was a sweet delight. The characters were very easy to relate to and that made the story very enjoyable for me. I have never read anything by this author but I will be looking for more in the future . Happy Reading everyone!

The storyline was a little better than the earlier books but the main characters were still a tad annoying. The words senior snoops were used so often I suggest using this as a drinking game!

Eleanor and Agnes are senior citizens that don't think being senior means just playing bingo and waiting for death. Death seems to find them quite a bit though. They call themselves senior sleuths and consistently try to help the police in Tawas, Michigan to solve crimes.

The police chief there is tired of them so he agrees to send them on vacation to Florida for the winter where his brother works as police chief. On the way to Florida, the small charter plane is almost highjacked and the ladies, along with their friends, find out that they were not sent on vacation but rather to work at a senior retirement home as maids because the maids there have gone missing.

I was not very impressed with this book. I found a lot of grammatical errors and typos and was disappointed with this. I also thought that the author didn't do a good job of tying up loose ends. I thought the premise was good but there wasn't a good enough tie in to all the threads in the story. I thought this could have been done much better but it wasn't neat and tidy the way it was written.

I don't remember that being the case in the first two so I will probably read on in the series. I really like the concept of energetic seniors as I think we have a bad opinion of seniors in general in our world but I have to say this one was a bit of a disappointment.

Honestly, why I read the third book in this series, I don’t know. In the beginning, I thought these cozy mysteries would be a lighthearted, quick read. They are a quick read, but the lightheartedness borders on absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know of any senior women who would act as foolish and preposterous as these two. The story line is predictable; the writing is choppy and nonsensical. The author says basically “She looked out a window and he was shot.” There’s no other description, no adjectives, nothing. She uses the same phrases and sentences over and over. How many times did the sheriff “adjust his trousers” or how many time did she say “senior sleuths”? The story line doesn’t flow in any natural order and the two senior citizens just do things in the middle of an investigation that, I guess, is supposed to make us laugh. Instead, it makes the characters look farcical. I finished the book because I’d gone too far through and I guess I kept hoping for it to get better. It didn’t. How this author is able to have written—yikes—12 more books in this series is beyond my comprehension.

They always blame the Gaters

This is the first Madison Johns book that I have read in a long time. I love her stories, but I have so many books that sometimes I get caught up in the, so many books, so little time loop. Although it's been awhile since I've read the first two books, it was like being back with old friends. The characters are so much fun and the mysteries are so unpredictable. I can't wait to get to the next book. Don't miss this series.

Oh this book series. I tried really hard to enjoy this but I just cant do it. I am not a fan of the author's style of writing. The story is choppy and bounces around. There are "funny" things added to try and make the story longer?? But since I did pay for this book, I finished it until the end. Sadly I dont think I will be returning to this series.

Agnes and her sidekick El are "wintering in FL" thanks to Sheriff Peterson. What they don't realize is he signed them up to work in the senior retirement home. Two maids go missing, jewelry thefts, cash stolen, nude beaches and male reviews are just some of what awaits them in this funny third installment in the series.

Good story.

I must say these mysteries always leave me guessing. They're fun to read and the characters are growing on me. Looking forward to the next case Aggy and El get into.

Disappointing. The first book made me laugh and appreciate older people and what ails them but this was farcical in comparison with lots of unnecessary nonsense. I shall not be reading another.

Title: Senior Snoops (Agnes Barton Senior Snoops Book 3)
Author: Madison Johns
Publisher: Outrageous Books
Published: 6-9-2013
Pages: 170
ASIN: B00DBEWQ5Y

The end of Grannies Guns and Ghosts with Agnes Barton and Eleanor Mason winning the bet with Sheriff Clem Petersen. The opening of book 3 shows that Peterson is a man true to his word. The Sheriff hands an envelope to the pilot and arranges transportation with a pilot friend who is flying to Florida. El and Agnes are joined by Frank Alton and his wife Dorothy who happens to be El's nemesis, El's boyfriend Mr. Wilson who no one including himself can remember his first name, Agnes's boyfriend Andrew who was her boss many years before and Agnes's daughter Martha.

The plane makes a stop for refueling. Agnes is looking out the window when she sees two men approach the pilot and search him. Apparently not finding what they were looking for while they were questioning one of the men shot him. Agnes runs and shuts and locks the door. Frank slips into the pilot seat and takes to the sky. Getting hold of the authorities they land at a nearby airport. They are met by Clide Palmer and Adam Putner from Home and Security that accuse them of lying about the attempted highjacking and shooting of the pilot. They found no evidence of neither. They ask about a packet wanting to know if anyone would know about that? Agnes keeps quiet about the envelope she found in the cockpit with $25,000.00 in it. Telling them they will be in touch the group of seniors is released to go.

Calling Sheriff Peterson back in Michigan to tell him what has happened He promises to get someone to come and get them. Falling asleep in the Airport lobby they are awakened by Sheriff Peterson. That is Sheriff Calvin Peterson. Seems that Sheriff Clem Peterson has a brother whose a sheriff in Florida. As the exit the airport they ask Calvin if he was there to take them to the hotel. Calvin laughs and tells the group that Clem made arrangements for them to stay and work at the Sunny Brooke Retirement Village. rumbling the get on the bus and head out.

Arriving at the Village they are all assigned jobs accept Martha and Andrew; Martha because she disappeared while they had stopped on the way to the Village and Andrew because he had the money to find a place on his own. They are cleaning rooms when they come across the patio where the two employees disappeared into the swamp and believed to have been eaten by crocodiles. Spooked by a snake they run into the room of one of the guest, Eugene Bragsworth. He and Dorothy seem quite taken with one another.

By the end of the day they are exhausted and are tempted to head back to Michigan. Agnes and El decide to stick it out until they can find out what happened to the two missing housekeepers. Squaring their shoulders they prepare to hunt for missing people, prove that there pilot had been shot and find out what the $25,000 means. Agnes Barton and El Mason are back and it does not take them long to get into trouble. Even if he's friendlier than Clem, Sheriff Calvin Peterson is just as stubborn as his brother.

Repeatedly telling the two senior snoops to but out of his investigations the ladies go about their way to to find the clues, evade homeland security and keep the married Dorothy away from her new crush. Just as humorous as the previous two books. An entertaining adventure for the Senior Snoops. One you will find delightful. Follow along as the Snoops meet the mother of the two sheriffs, pick up a stalker, find some missing jewels and form a plan.

If you haven't read book 1 or 2 don't worry this can be read as a stand alone, but if possible read the books in order to get a better sense of the characters and their history. Enjoy! Madison Johns has done it again. Bright and lively characters.

This third in the series was better than the other two combined. The Senior Snoops are getting to winter in Florida. Nice! If they thought it would all be beaches and tans, though, they got a rude awakening long before they got to their destination. So murder and mysteries abound.

After the two previous books I feel I know Agnes and Eleanor as good friends. They have spunk and are active seniors. They are sexually active and enjoy the men in their lives with enthusiasm. And they are snoopy! They can get in more trouble than any twelve teens.

I did enjoy this book. There are a few editing issues, but they don't get in the way of the story. I think my biggest gripe was the making Agnes become a sudden prude on nude beaches or in the strip club. I didn't see her that way before this book so the few remarks that made her that way stopped the story short for me. Still, I have the next set of books set up. I have a few other books I am supposed to be reading first, but I'll be happy to see what Madison Johns has these snoops up to next.

These are great light reading for when you need a break from heavier literary pursuits.

Local sheriff, Clem Peterson, offers senior sleuths, Agnes Barton and Eleanor Matson, a winter in Florida. Considersing their past relationship (a little iffy to say the least)they should have been suspicious. When they get to the airport, the plane is Cesna. They stop for gasoline and there is shoot out and it appears the pilot has been shot. One of the passengers takes over flying the plane (isn't it amazing that there is a pilot on the plans) to Florida.
the place they are staying turns out to be a senior apartment area. They get their room and board for cleaning the little apartments. Doesn't that sound like forced labor? The "girls" find out that recently 2 maids from this place and have gone missing and there have been robberies in the town. The sheriff turns out to be the brother of Clem, Calvin Peterson. He has been unable to get many clues in any of these crimes, so Agnes and Eleanor get busy.
If you enjoyed the other senior snoops mysteries, you probably will like this one.

This book is the third book in the series of Agnes Barton Eleanor Mason Senior Sleuth Mysteries. The second and last one in my June challenge in the Cozy Mystery Book Club on Goodreads.

Agnes and Eleanor are going to Florida for the winter because Sheriff Peterson promised he would send them if they helped him solve the last case he had in Michigan where they live.

Well, the book starts out with the ladies getting on the plane that Peterson has hired to get them to Florida.

They meet up with more trouble in Florida than ever either of them could think of in Michigan. Three missing people, a murdered woman a jewelry heist and counterfeit money.

You have to read it to believe how they get themselves out of all of this mess.

Good read and funny with the old folks at a retirement village.

What can I possibly say about Senior Snoops by Madison Johns? Awful! I am "of the age" as the main characters in this story. I must say that there is not one of my acquaintances as foolish sounding as the women in this tale. The voice given to these "sharp cookies" who can solve mysteries is that used (maybe) by preteens. It would be a good thing for this author to visit an assisted living, senior center, or to talk with her relatives of that age to actually research the bantering (and yes, silliness) among mature adults. It can be very enjoyable and could strengthen her writing considerably. Plot's not bad though.

I am thoroughly enjoying this lighthearted series of mysteries about Agnes Barton and her goofy side-kick Eleanor. They remind me of Golden Girls meets Murder She Wrote where a senior citizen character is given full range of emotion, intelligence, romantic entanglements, and sleuthing success. Aggie and El could be in their 20s if we aren't frequently reminded they're in their 70s and 80s, respectively. I can't wait to keep reading more in the series! I've got them all for 99 cents a pop on my Kindle app by following the author, Madison Johns, on Facebook and taking advantage of her day-of-publication discounts.

e-book from Book Bub - another freebie - and that was it. Two 80 yr old lady "detectives" which could be charming and interesting - right? Agatha Kristi type? Nothing really plausible in the whole thing. I really have to learn to put a book down and not feel obligated to finish it! - It said 691 pages, which I found hard to believe, and even that wasn't real! Thank goodness each flip of the page counted as three pages!

Yet again I have enjoyed Agnes and Eleanor's adventures, or should that be misadventures.

This time the plot takes you away from Michigan and moves you to Florida. Where the girls get themselves involved in another case.

I can't recommend these books enough. Great fun and I am already looking forward to the next one in the series.

This book was not nearly as good a story as Johns' first two in this series. She seems to have lost her editor. There were several gramatical and other errors. I won't be reading more of Ms. Johns' books. There are just too many books and too little time to spend on books that are not really good.

All done

All in all the 3 books were good. I enjoyed reading them, they were funny, had some who done it and it always kept me guessing. And it just made it funnier that they could get into some crazy situations for being their age.

It runs as this series normally does. Grannies with Guns go to a retirement home and get drawn into a series of robberies and disappearances. Enjoyable enough, but the end seems rushed - almost as if there was a deadline looming. -1 star for that
