- Loved the mental health rep in this book. It’s so rare to see and I loved that it was a large part of the story. This book is a thick one, but a really quick read.
- Hero gives BDE but I wish that we saw more of his sweet and caring side outside of the connection he has with his children. Most of the characters are flawed, but it definitely made the story more realistic. The slow burn definitely took me by surprise.
- I love that something new was happening all throughout the book. The dramaaaa was drama-ing!! Some of the plot lines felt a little outlandish but I’m here for a good time so I enjoyed it!! Would definitely recommend.

Imagining giving your all to a man and contributing equally if not more to the household and success of your marriage only for the divorce to end with you getting pennies on the dollar in comparison to him walking away like the fat rat that he truly was! Well this was the hand dealt to Yazmin and she had no idea how to move forward after such a huge blow!

Yazmin had no idea that when Natacha approached her outside of the courthouse with an offer she couldn’t refuse that she was making a deal with the devil! They say beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing because baby when they howl it leaves you and everything it’s touched in shambles. Yazmin thought she was going into this new opportunity as a nanny but she was blindsided in ways she couldn’t have imagined!

Hero is a father that is battling demons he’s desperately trying to hide. All he wants to do is care for his children and do what he loves. He doesn’t have the best image and his past is sketchy af. His “support” system is worthless and looking to pass his children off on anyone willing to bite. Natacha was more concerned with living her best carefree life that was built on the backs of her children and hadn’t contributed a single brick to the empires they’ve built.

This book was drama filled and definitely held my interest! Hero and Yazmin were two tortured souls dealing with childhood trauma that bled over into their adult lives. Natacha was a crazy mf and she deserved a bullet to the dome! Because Yazmin and Hero were in constant work mode I wasn’t as convinced with their connection. I wanted to see more from these two outside of their sexual chemistry. I’d honestly give the romance or love aspect to this story a 2 but the storyline and drama that unfolded significantly pushed the story forward in a really good way!

This was another good read by Charae and I look forward to what’s next from her!

4.5⭐️!

Whew, don’t play with Mr. Hero ok! After a terrible loss in court to her ex-husband, Yazmin meets Natacha who offers her an opportunity that she can’t refuse! Her taking care of 6yr old twins wasn’t the opportunity I thought Natacha had, lol I thought she was trying to pimp out Yazmin 😩. Lowkey Natacha throwing the kids to Yazmin to babysit so she could go live her life was still a mess! The back-and-forth battle with Yazmin and Hero was just the angst we needed. It seemed like once they realized they wanted one another life kept saying nah! I will say if Hero shouted me out the way he did in front of everyone while I’m on a date I too would have folded like a lawn chair 😭😩🔥. Hero knew he messed up and did whatever it took to get her back and I loved that! Yazmin was resistant but being embarrassed by two men in a short span while dealing with the trauma from home had to be a lot. I was so glad she came around though! She deserved to be happy! Sceks scenes were 🔥🔥Hero is something else! I will say that one elevator scene felt sprinkled in but I wasn’t mad at it! 🔥This was a good book dealing with a lot of different elements like grief, mental illness, blackmail, death, and violence so be aware while reading but whew sooo good! Charae has a fan in me because I’m ready to read the entire back catalog!

Crazy Mama Drama

This book had me in my feelings from the start. I felt so sorry for Yazmin, Sis really got bent over by her ex husband with no Vaseline. Upon exiting the courtroom following divorce proceedings, Yazmin is approached by an older woman Natcha, who claims that they may be able to help each other. All kinds of red flags go off for me because Sis just hanging out in the courthouse looking for her next victim? I’m definitely thinking something nefarious is amiss. Yazmin initially follows her intuition and turns Natasha down but she’s down bad. She calls Natacha and accepts her offer to become the nanny to her grandchildren 🤦🏽‍♀️ despite her not having a clue on how to be one. Yazmin later finds out that she’s the new nanny to twins of one the most famous and controversial rappers of all time, Hero. She wants to quit as soon as she finds out, she’s heard and read nothing but bad things about Hero. She eventually stays for the kids, who genuinely like her. Yazmin slowly falls for Hero even though she’s be warned not to. She sees something in him that others don’t and he sees peace and a safe place in her. Oh but the jealousy, secrets and deceit. Yazmin struggles to overcome her fear of being used again while coping with a family tragedy and past trauma that’s slowly eating her from the inside out.

This was a thick book but I got through it pretty quickly.
This one follows Yazmine, recently divorced and left with minimal funds as a settlement, she’s given an opportunity to work as a live-in nanny paying her more than she could have imagined to be able to get back on her feet. Unbeknownst to her it’s for a famous rapper named Hero and being inserted into his lifestyle sends her down a road she wasn’t ready for.
This was different from my typical reads, but it was on my physical tbr and I need to get through it. After getting past my irritation of all the grammatical errors (so many) I was able to get into the story. It definitely kept my attention, so if you’re a die hard urban fiction girlie, this’ll be a winner for you.

Hero 🖤

Yazmin is a woman stuck in a marriage with a terrible man - David. After their divorce, David left Yaz with basically nothing and she had depended on him so heavily - she had nowhere to go and barely any money. Yaz ends up taking a job as a nanny even though she had no prior experience and had little details about the family. The family ends up belonging to a famous rapper, Hero, who has the reputation of being a menace. Yaz and Hero end up falling in love but it doesn’t come without obstacles and drama.

I will say that I wish there was a little more build up in the connection between Yaz & Hero. I wanted to feel a bit more of the intensity if they were gonna be deep in love so fast.

Yazmin was a joy to read for me. I loved how sweet and professional she came off but if you played with her? Oh baby she was cussin you OUT 😂 I loved it. Angel and Saint were awesome and it was hard to believe they were 6! It felt like they were teenagers at times lol

Overall, I enjoyed this story and would recommend it.

4.25⭐️ this book was a page turner and so well written. There was the perfect amount of drama, emotional tugs, comedy, and spice. This was my first time reading this author and it won’t be my last.

Here are my random thoughts while reading..

Natacha?? She drove me up the wall the entire book. How can someone be so evil? She can keep every last apology

Yaz had been through a lot but what a hell of a comeback story!!! The lover girl is me was sick she didn’t let Hero explain or anything. My girl said she was done and meant it. Yaz was also hilarious at times and I love when she read people for filth. I was like YES!!!!

Hero…the commands alone, added you to the book boyfriend list.

Saint and angel were my favorites. These kids had me cracking up.

The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars from me because I needed a little more interaction between Hero and yaz for them to be full blown in love after that big blow up witty Gabriella

This was too good!!

My girl Yazmin was going through it! After getting divorced & being left with nothing she takes what she thought would be a short term job as a nanny to two twins until she realizes who the twins father is! She quickly learned things aren’t always as they seem!

I was not the biggest fan of Hero in the beginning 😭 he was mean asl & so closed off I didn’t know what to think of him! Eventually Yazmin starts to break those walls down & we get to see the difference between Hero the rapper & Hero the man/ father! He won me over quickly 😂

After secrets were revealed & Hero’s past interferes with his present things get crazy & Hero looses the person who’s been his peace amidst all the chaos in his life! Never one to loose any battle my boy did his big one to get his girl back! I was with all his shenanigans 😂 he did what needed to be done!

This was such a good read!! Definitely going to get into more from this author!

Enjoyed this book

Yazmin has just gone through a divorce from her childhood sweetheart who left her with nothing. Desperate to get her life back on track Yazmin takes a job as a nanny. Her plan was to only be a nanny for a few months while she saved and came up with a plan for her new life. Yazmin never expected to be the nanny for rap mogul Hero Saintil let alone fall in love with a man whose lifestyle was dangerous. Hero just wanted a peaceful life for him and his twins away from the world of social media, which is why he kept his life private and away from the publics prying eyes as much as possible. Hero couldn’t keep a nanny so leaving his kids in the care of his mother while he worked was the best option for him. Hero was surprised to come home to a new nanny he didn’t hire. After deciding to leave Yazmin on as the nanny Hero was determined not to break his rule of messing with someone who worked for him, but the more he got to know Yazmin the harder it became for Hero to stay away from her.

I enjoyed this book, Hero was everything. He was not only a music mogul and businessman that took no shit from anyone but then turned around and was such a softy when it came to his twins Angel and Saint. Now those dang on twins were bad as hell. I knew when Saint said “Welcome to Death Row…” he was going to be a little bad cussing machine. Angel had no filter, lil sis just said the first thing that came to her mind and didn’t care how anyone took it. I loved how they took to Yazmin though; they did not play about their Miss Yazzy. Yazmin wanted to walk out on those little bad a****several times, but deep-down Saint and Angel penetrated her heart from the beginning. Hero’s momma worked my nerves she was horrible. I wasn’t expecting the little situation that happened and was a little disappointed in Hero.

I loved Yazmin she was going through it, but sis was determined to bounce back and build her life by her own rules. Listen don’t get on Yazmin’s bad side sis will read you for filth okay. I enjoyed her reads, she had me cracking up. Hero was not at all against letting the world know Yazmin was his. Poor Young Capo had no idea what he was getting himself into showing interest in Yazmin and Hero could careless how buddy felt.

I know it was very unhealthy, but the way Saint and Angel knew when Hero was having an episode and their response was so adorable, it was really the only time their little bad asses were being good. I do wish we would have gotten a follow up on how Hero was coping in the epilogue.

I also don’t think there were any content warnings which could have been mentioned. There was depression, addiction, sexual assault, and death of a parent mentioned in this book. This was a great read and if you can handle the content warning, I would recommend this full length standalone.

Hero is big pressure! 😮‍💨🙌🏾✨

Saint Ave is a full-length story that has an intriguing storyline. The author developed this story well and ensured there were no loose ends. Hero is a rapper and mogul with a bad reputation but he is such a teddy bear for his children. Yazmin is a newly divorcee who is down on her luck. An unexpected job is offered to her to be the nanny for Hero’s two twins. I knew I was going to be in for a ride when one of the twins yelled, “welcome to Death Row B—h” to Yaz on her first day of the job! The twins are a huge part of this story! In the beginning I laughed at their antics, but by the end I wanted to give them the biggest hug! The way the twins cared for Hero was so bittersweet, they were kids but they were his protectors. 😭

I absolutely fell in love with Hero; he was guarded and for good reasons. He battled demons, had to care for so many people, all while running a successful music empire. Buuuut baby 44% in things took a turn and I was ready to risk it ALL! Mkay! Whew, “Amen and pass the panties!” 😮‍💨😮‍💨

In true Charae fashion, she delivered family drama, mental health rep, spicy scenes, a scandal, and a happily ever after. I was so engrossed with this story that I felt like I knew these characters. The highlight for me was Yazmin speaking with with her mother, it was much needed and provided her with the closure she needed. Hero took the step in setting boundaries and freeing himself by cutting his mother off. Both characters had so much love for each other but the outsiders were not making it easy for them.

This book is a must read!

good but missed the romance

I liked this book but some things fell short for me.The romance really lacked in this story but everything else was a good time. I feel like there was definitely chemistry but not much building between the two. Hero professing his love when there had really only been physical encounters between them is crazy. Them kids were so bad but so funny. I like that Yazmin stood on business! From the reviews I read, a lot of people didn’t like her but she had been through too much with her ex to keep on dealing with BS. Natacha was horrible. I also feel like the author should’ve done a better job of having Yazmin there to help Hero through things. She just dipped. It wasn’t her responsibility to help him get better but she didn’t experience his lows with him at all.

Definitely some twists I didn’t see coming. There was also a few inconsistencies. Like texting Yazmin but she had lost her phone. Hero taking her home but she drove to the hotel.

Charae did it again! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

It’s hard to wrap all of the feels up after reading such a rollercoaster ride. All I can say is read this. You will laugh with those twins. You will cheer for Yazzie. Want to hug and hold tight Hero… along with some other things 😈😉. But those two together, whew, I so badly wanted them to win. Even when it felt like shoes were dropping every other second.

Capo tried it🙄.

Overall I really loved it. Another great story by the👏🏾 Charae 👏🏾Lewis!👏🏾

An Amazing Journey

This is my first read by Ms. Lewis and I am completely blown away by Hero and Yazmin’s journey. The pain. The healing. And ultimately the love. I already know this story is gonna linger in my mind. I hated to see it end. Well done, Charae!

This book kept my attention from the beginning until the end. Yazmin and Hero found something in each other that they both needed. I did not care for the added POV near the middle of the book. I really enjoyed the kids, they were too funny. Too good.

Say it Saint So!

You all, this story took me all around the corner and back. The idea for the story was tricky, and it took some heavy writing and storytelling to make this one happen. I don't know what else to tell you. A music artist with a bad attitude fell for his Nanny. You need to see what happened in between the rage, romance, and acts of revenge.

What a ride!

I had such conflicting feelings about this story. Mainly because I didn't really connect with either main character at the beginning.
It's hard for me to really feel invested in a story when I don't like the characters. I didn't so much dislike them, but I had a hard time connecting with them. Especially Yazmin. Whew she worked my nerves for a good while. And Hero was cool, until he wasn't.
The saving grace was this entire story you really have to make it to the end to get it. (Well, for me) when I finished the story and thought about all both Heor and Yazmin had gone through, how they overcame, in spite of...I understood. This was a rough read for me, but the story was told in an amazing way.
I'm really glad I stuck it out and gave them a chance to experience their story.

4.5⭐️ This book was so good! It was the perfect rollercoaster, drama, angst, betrayal, love, comedy and tragedy! I could not put this one down. Hero reminded me of a black man with the world on his shoulders who had to pretend, I loved that bc her depiction of manic depression was so spot on. Giving this larger than life main character the illness of Bipolar disorder showed her strength with writing. The book just flowed so well..

Yazmin & Hero

I enjoyed this book. From page one I was pulled into the story. Yazmin is in her early 30s and life as she knows it changes for the worst. While she’s at her lowest, she meets someone that changes her life again in such a short time. She embarks on a journey of unknowns and has to pray for the best.

Hero is in the music industry and has a set of twins. He knows pain, he knows hustle, he knows anger. What he doesn’t know is love in the romantic sense.

Wheewww…. This is my first Charae Lewis book and it will not be my last.

This book was written in a very weird tone. It took until almost 75% through the book to finally figure out why the author was writing in this weird way. I liked the connection between Yasmin and the kids and could feel the chemistry between her hero. His mom being the main villain of the story caught me by surprise, and I would’ve liked more of their actual relationship together instead of it just being the epilogue because I hate the second act break-up-get-back-together nonsense.

I wanted to love this book but in the end it was just okay. I was completely sold on the book and Yazmin and Saint as a couple right up until he told her he loved her. I'm not sure why Charae thought it was a good idea to force love on us at that point. None of their interactions felt like love. This wasn't an instalove sit so the declaration of love felt disingenuous. Next, I didn't understand Yazmin anger. Don't get me wrong, she def had grounds to be upset. He was 💯 wrong for not disclosing his marital status but here's where it didn't make sense to me. She claims she loves this dude. She's in love with this dude. And she love his kids. But even still when she learns their mother dies, she doesn't go to the kids? She had just told the mother that those were her (Yazmin) kids then she abandons them like the mom did. Finally, I know I'm in the minority here but Natasha wasn't evil enough IMO. She should've been a much stronger villain. Besides accidentally kill the mother, she didn't really do nothing but pop off. I wanted her to be a mastermind evil bitch that everyone feared. People mostly considered her a joke or nuisance. Her downfall was boring. I didn't get why she turned herself in. She gave some lame excuse about not running from her problems but apparently that was her MO so again, why now? I would've loved for her to have been behind the attempted killing or for her to have a connection to Yazmin's ex-husband. Speaking of, he was a complete ass to Yazmin but the entire time I kept wondering why. The author should've developed that more. Either it was a personality trait or something provoked by Yazmin. His unsupported hatred towards a woman he once loved seemed odd.

Overall the book was entertaining but the author missed some opportunities to really make the story shine.
