At least a French edition (of Booking International, Paris) of Bronkhorst's Van Gogh, apparently illustrated like the English one here listed, belongs to my greatest reading experiences. It presents a cornucopia of utterly beautiful, major works by the master which one usually does not see but should see at any rate. Many other paintings by van Gogh than just his well-known Sunflowers, The Starry Night, or self-portraits are major masterworks in their own right.
I was surprised to find Bronkhorst's text unpedantic and interesting although the book has been copyrighted in the Netherlands in 1990.
The book has a large format in my edition, with well-printed, sharp reproductions of the paintings. I have well been able to use it for an identification of similarities between the oeuvres of the impressionist presented in it and of Albert Uderzo.
