The Bhagavad Gita (Sanskrit: श्रीमद् भगवद् गीता, Śrīmad bhagavad gītā) (Sanskrit: [ˈbʱəɡəʋəd̪ ɡiːˈt̪aː] ), The Song of the Bhagavan, often referred to as simply the Gita, is a 700-verse scripture that is part of the Hindu epic Mahabharata. In the form of a dialogue between Pandava prince Arjuna and his guide Lord Krishna[note 1] it presents a synthesis of the Brahmanical concept of Dharma with bhakti, the yogic ideals of liberation through jnana, and Samkhya philosophy. The Bhagavad Gita also integrates theism and transcendentalism or spiritual monism, and identifies a God of personal characteristics with the Brahman of the Vedic tradition.
Numerous commentaries have been written on the Bhagavad Gita with widely differing views on the essentials. Advaita Vedanta sees the non-dualism of Atman and Brahman as its essence, whereas Bhedabheda and Vishishtadvaita see Atman and Brahman as both different and non-different, and Dvaita sees them as different. Commentators see the setting of the Gita in a battlefield as an allegory for the ethical and moral struggles of the human life.
All the 18 chapters in the holy book 📙 cover the transcendental path of the living thing's life cycle right from birth till death inscribe challenges, outcomes, and kind of existence to the material world. It depicts the essence of being in 'dharma' the only way to enrich the meaning of life and to reach out to Lord Krishna. The world is one family and the chain continues till it gets justified with one's past karma, fates & moral principles. Lord Krishna's consciousness in divine chanting of "Hare Krishna maha-mantra", faith, and the test of time account for the ethics based on eternal values. The Gita is the conversation between the two best friends, Lord Krishna and Arjuna leading up to the greatest epic turned Mahabharata battle. If somebody just randomly opens up any page of this holy book then he/she gets the simplicity and solution for any sort of his/her suffering. Each chapter has its own utter significance and understanding of one's presence entity in this large universe.“You can wake up a person who is sleeping, but you cannot awaken someone who is pretending to be asleep.” The Bhagavad Gita is a book for those who wish to awaken. It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection. Lord Krishna is omnipresent he's just like the wind that blows in every corner of your life just don't regret, fear, or hurt anyone intentionally & always remember that whatever is happening, has happened & will happen is all for the best of mankind. We all just a guest to this nature for a limited time span so do good to others and transform kindness, peace, harness serving, harmony, and a truly fair sense of surviving. Believe in Lord Krishna not only at difficult times but also pretty much at usual times. Don't indulge in comparing the things leading to discrimination, exploitation & destroying the mercy bringing negative ideologies. HARE-KRISHNA!
This book is the direct speech from God....This book is direct dialect of Supreme (God) with Arjun (not through any messenger like Jesus or Mohammad but direct)...It is famous for being a mysterious book...and one need to read it infinite number of times to understand the essence of it. Most wonderful book you would ever read.
It is not the exact book I read, but I read something similar, an interpretation from Krishnakripamurti and a translation to Nepali by Mr Narayanprasad Adhikari.
The book I read has three texts/paragraphs. Sanskrit Sloka, its direct meaning and the interpretation by author. At first I read all three but after couple of paragraph, I felt discontinued reading the interpretation and read the Sanskrit Sloka and its direct meaning.
To be honest I could not comprehend what was in the book. Sometime it felt that it was a book promoted by kings and people in power to bind people within their words. But then I think the book has more meaning to it and I am not able to understand it. Thus, I will try to read this book/ or a similar one again in future. Best after completing my mobile keyboard app + language learning app after which I might become literate in Sanskrit to understand more of its meaning.
Cannot rate the original text obviously so specifically talking about this translation.
There are many commentaries on and translations of Geeta. The positive about this one in Hindi is that it gives a word to word translation of the Sanskrit words to Hindi. It not only gives you a literal meaning of the shloka but also helps you get used to the flow of Sanskrit and subconsciously you end up noticing an improvement in your pronunciation of the shlokas. I enjoyed it for this reason. To understand the philosophy better, one must read a detailed commentary. Or better still, learn the original language maybe?
Had me until the admonishment list, which almost immediately asks us to reject love/relationships with other people, as in our spouse, children, friends.
Other than that, this focuses on the non-separateness of God and everything that exists, God is everywhere, while promoting good morals through mindfulness and a thinking always towards God, which is expressed through goodness.
I think reviewing HIM & THE EVERYTHING is wrong. I just want to thank Geeta Press for being authentic & giving their contribution towards Sanatan. Jay Shree Krishna Har Har Mahadev🙏🏻
