great quick survey

Likely view have read every work summarized here, but the world would be a better place if all of us had.

A handy guide to classic texts with a special effort made to be more inclusive of non-Western cultures. There is more work to do, but this is a good try that introduced me to many texts. I also found myself reconsidering books I had skipped over in the past. The tone is generally neutral without being dull. I’m glad I bought this book.

Evelyn Panorama of History and Literature

A great read that covers some very important works in a thoughtful and interesting way.

I question many choices of the 20th century forward, mainly because there's so many to choose from. But I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Servicable overview, although one can argue endlessly over which works are truly canonical in this highly selective ‘library’.

This is a must have for those who want a quick refresher of the great works of history. It has been a great companion for my studies in Greek literature and the history of the patriarchy.
