2nd reading: Liked this better the second time around. Slade and Taylor are one of my fav couples from this series. The kids--Kurt and Lee--end up with their own books later on in the series when Kurt starts a Bantorus MC chapter in Idaho.

1st reading:I took my time with this one, but it just didn't grab my attention like the first two in this series. Worth the time for the glimpses of characters from previous books in the series.

This was a great Addison to a series that has gotten better. I have read all three books in this series and have really liked them all. Debra Kayn is a great author with great integrity who draws you into the story and makes you care about the characters she writes about. I flew through this book quicker than I thought I would but this book read so well and I enjoyed it so much that I couldn't stop. I have really liked Slade and Taylor since book one but I wasn't sure if I would like their book.

Because of Slade having kids from his crazy ex wife, this alone doesn't bother me but sometimes authors write this situation so that in the end I never quite believe that the heroine was the heroes most loved woman in his life EVER (yes I want the heroine to be the most important most loved woman ever in the heroes life even if the hero was married before and the previous wife was great and died) even thou that isn't the case here I'm glad that Debra wrote the heroine as the heroes true love. I must say that with all of my fears and concerns for this story line Mrs. Kayn really delivered in all aspects of this book.

Slade has fought for his kids against his ex wife who isn't fit to raise his children and part of that has been to keep his relationship with Taylor a secret. Taylor has loved Slade and loved spending time with him and even though she want to be in a real and open relationship, the love Slade has for his two boys is one of the things she loves most about him so she gladly keeps their relations under wraps.

When the custody trial is over and Slade starts to push Taylor away she is devastated, but soon Slade realizes that no matter his reasons he can't stay away from Taylor, as they try to find their way in a public relationship they both have to learn to not only trust the other but themselves, as they seem to finally be getting everything they ever dreamed of a rival MC threatens to take away everything the have fought so hard for.

The more I read from Debra Kayn the more I like her stories and book voice, this is just another in a growing list of books that I have loved from Mrs. Kayn. She is quickly becoming an author that I can buy no matter what. Each book in each subject she writes has drawn me in and taken me on the journey with the hero and heroine. I love this series and I'm always looking for the next to come out, and I will continue to because I am really excited to see who gets the next book and what will happen.

This one was my favorite of the series so far. I still obviously need to read book 4.

I really loved Slade and Taylor. I liked his boys a lot as well and how they had a good family dynamic about them.

What I liked a lot:
1.Taylor. Has a backbone. Stands up for herself, even against her man. Stuck by her man through thick and thin. Never one to give up, if she could help it.
2. Slade. His love and loyalties for: The club, his sons and Taylor.
3. When Slade does something for Taylor that's huge in front of the club.
4. How Slade does whatever it takes to protect what's his.
5. How Taylor is with Slades boys.
6. Issues happen and resolve pretty quickly.
7. I still love all of the men in Bantorus.
8. No stupid club whores to take Slade away from Taylor.
9. Taylor's love and loyalties to the club, Slade and his boys.
10. The relationship Slade and Taylor have.
11. When Slade is flirty, playful and sweet.
12. Happy that Taylor came from a good background.
13. Glad to see Raul had a little part in this book.
14. Quick read.
15. The story read and flowed really well.
16. Once a couple in public, always a couple.

Issues:
1. Still needs a smidge of editing but it was much better.
2. After the major part happens, it cuts months later. I still want to see right after the big scene and feel the feelings along with the characters.
3. The cover model does NOT match up with Slade's description well.

I liked the fact the Taylor was just a part of Slade's life without demands. It was refreshing. Even better was that she was coming from a stable, loving family without any issues in the past. It was good for once to have the woman to supportive and understanding in the relation and help Slade with his troubles.
Slade was troubled by what he thought was a failure to protect what was his but he redeemed himself in the end.
I loved the fact I got to see a bit more from Rain and Tori and their daughter Lilly, same for Raul and even Crystal (not my favorite character, though).
The family feel is here and I want to know more about the Bantorus MC.

Hallelujah!! Read this one yesterday and really liked it. At least 4 stars for me if not 4.5. This is the best book of this series to date IMO. I absolutely love both Slade and Taylor. Finally grown a** adults that show true love and the struggles of building a relationship. I ate this book up and read it quickly because it was so good. This one will be a re-read for me so that I can take my time with it. Slade and Taylor were characters in the previous books. I recommend this book highly.

SPOILERS *****************************************************************
After trying to do everything right for the past two years to keep his two boys, Slade is inconsolable and goes off the deep end when the judge awards custody of his two sons to his skanky ex-wife. For over a year he and Taylor have kept their relationship a secret because Slade did not want his ex-wife to drag Taylor into court. In the past Slade has been a man ho but with Taylor it is clear he loves her. What touched me most was how strong his love was for his children and the lengths he would go to to protect his children. I could go on and on about this one. There is no cheating and there is a HEA. Rain/Raul from the previous books show up and yes there is some angst and a pretty good plot.

This was a pretty tame MC book.

Slade
He's dealt a pretty sad blow at the beginning of the book, and where you would assume his initial reaction would've been the correct one given that he's a VP... it didn't happen. Instead the pencil dick continues to mess with his family.

un-heard-of

Taylor
bless her heart. She was an american girl right down to her apple pie heart. And as much as she was fantastic in certain area's the chic definitely stepped into sh!t that woulda/SHOULDA gotten her into trouble with the MC... but it didn't happen.

Auh-maze-ing

Over all there was "action" through out the book but it was pretty blah until the end when all hell broke loose.

not my fav MC book, but you judge for yourself!

I totally wish I'd have made my way back to this series sooner. .Debra
Kayn has created a world of Fantastic characters that I'm totally
addicted to. Slade and Taylor were amazing together. I adored how this
family was sewn together from pieces into one rock solid unit.

 I
couldn't put this one down. . from terrifying suspense to blazing hot
passion it had e everything. More than that it had reality in how the
blending of a family can take time and patience. Slade loved those boys
fiercely but his love for Taylor was just as strong. .

This big bad biker
calling her baby girl. .. so possessive and protective just melted my
heart. The pain they had to endure to build a mixmatched family that rivaled anything blood could create. From the scars and the bruises a rock solid foundation was built and Slade was the protector and the hero who made sure these people under his care knew that they were Bantorus and that he'd protect them with is life. I was hooked, sucked in and mesmerized.

The brotherhood.. layered in loyalty and trust... what a
beautiful thing this MC world Debra has shown us. I'll definitely be
reading the next very soon

This is Slade and Taylor’s story, which they have been teasing since book one. Slade and Taylor have been conducting a secret relationship because he is trying to get full custody of his kids. This book is about how they do that, and how they bring their relationship to the light. Other stuff happens, but that’s the main jist of the story. I thought it was pretty good, and I really liked Taylor.

SOOTHING HIS MADNESS
by Debra Kayn
ARC Review
Published: November 18, 2013, Debra Kayn

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

Having to keep her romantic involvement with Slade a secret for so long, had been a sacrifice Taylor was glad to make. She didn't want anything to stand in the way of the full custody Slade was hoping to get of his two boys. Not that there was anything she had to hide, she had her own place and her job waitressing at the Bantorus MC's favorite hangout, but you couldn't be too careful. So when Slade returned from court with the news written all over his face, her heart broke.

He knew he wasn't the ideal father material, being Vice President of the Bantorus MC, but Slade had always provided a safe and loving home for his boys. Not something that his vindictive and flighty ex and her sleezy husband could or would do. It ripped him apart having to hand over the boys, but he was not going to give up on them. Whatever it would take, he would bring them home. He just doesn't think he can ask Taylor to tie herself to someone like him. Someone who will deal with the devil himself so his boys could be with him again.

With more conviction than Slade feels at the moment, Taylor is not prepared to let him walk away from her. And with a rivaling gang with close ties to the Mexican Mafia about to encroach on their territory, Slade realizes he needs his loved ones home..... All of them. With their relationship now out in the open and Taylor afforded the official status of 'old lady', the MC are making plans to ensure that not only his sons, but also the town of Pitnam are safe.

What Slade doesn't know, is that Taylor has been doing her own planning to give Slade his boys back, but what she doesn't realize is that it puts her right in the path of danger.

*****

Debra's best yet!!!

I really got a kick out of the already existing relationship that we see moving to a different level. It is yet another unique look at romance, when so often we see just the initial 'bliss', the honeymoon phase. Here we are introduced to a couple who have, albeit in secret, in a committed relationship for a while. Sure, they haven't made anything 'official' yet, neither to each other or the world at large, but the implications sure are there.

It then shows us the struggle of bursting that intimate one on one bubble, into something more public and normalized, amid all this circumstantial chaos around them, which of course, makes the transition all the more difficult. That becomes obvious when certain insecurities around their feelings and commitments to each other start resurfacing again after they have already voice their feelings for each other. Their circumstances have been so extreme and stressful, that they need the other's reassurance that they are still the same to the other, and they find new and clearer ways of showing and descriving that.

Of course, there is action aplenty!!! This is a biker book!! We have feuding MC's who are forced to ride side by side to ward off an invading club with dangerous Mafia connections, neither of the MC's want in their territory.

We also have action of an entirely different nature, not necessarily less 'forceful', but most definitely more loving. The sex, my lovelies, is scalding hot. Not that that should surprise you, Ms. Kayn does a very good descriptive job. I learn so much from these books, I wonder where all these authors do their research, or whether this knowledge just comes naturally....... *smirk*

I stayed up with this book, have the author to thank for the multiple cups of coffee that are now keeping me sufficiently coherent (I hope!) to finish this review! Just couldn't put it down. The perfect combination of HARD and soft.

✨A kick-ass, red-hot and savvy novel of family, love and brotherhood✨

Soothing His Madness by Debra Kayn is one of the best books I read in 2013. It is book 3 in her new biker series. The first was Breathing His Air (which is one of my top 10 favorite books I have ever read) and Book 2 is Aching to Exhale, also a favorite of 2013. All three books are stand alone books, but I highly recommend that you read them all.

This story is about Slade, the VP of the Bontorus MC. He has lost everything and feels like he has failed his kids, his woman and his club. It opens with his world being ripped apart, when a judge gives custody of his kids to his ex. Slade lived for his kids and he promised to always be there for them, he vows to get them back and put his family together no matter what. Taylor has loved Slade forever and has stood by him even it had to be from a distance and in private as they had to keep their relationship a secret. At first Slade pushes Taylor away, but soon he realizes that he needs her and his kids need her. Unfortunately things are complicated and there is a whole lot of action happening within the MC and the Bantorus MC has to join forces with a rival MC to keep some really bad people at bay. (I don’t want to do spoilers, so I will let you read it for yourself.) But you really just have to love a guy who puts his kids first and is willing to do anything to make them safe and with him. Slade is just that guy! You can just feel love that Taylor and Slade have for each other.

Kayn has done such a fantastic job with these books that I feel like I have a vested interest in their lives and what happens to them. I have cried, laughed, cheered, sighed and swooned. I have grown to love this characters and hope that we get visit them again in future books.

This is book 3 in Debra Kayn's new biker series. This one amps up the emotional vibe and the danger. Slade is a really great guy but as very alpha type male he thinks he has let down his kids and his girlfriend. The book opens up with him just coming from court and losing custody to his sleazy ex-wife and equally sleazy husband. While working on his court case he had been seeing Taylor and keeping that quiet thinking it might effect his case if it gets out. Things are not going his way so he becomes desperate and does something that could get his boys taken away from his permanently.Taylor does her best to support him but it's like hitting a wall when he won't accept her help. Just when you think they have enough on their hands with the boys the ex-wife and their relationship someone is out to kill them. Who is it? The ex-wife's new husband or a rival motorcycle club or something else. There's a lot going on in this book but it's nice to see some family dynamic with the two boys of Slade's and Taylor and Slade's relationship growing into something permanent. Between the great sex scenes and the pulse pounding suspense scenes there's plenty to keep you reading and wanting more. Can't wait to see where Ms. Kayn takes us next!

Slade when he wants something he's not afraid to voice what he wants, "you won't." He tugged her over until she faced him, then he pulled her against the length of his body. "Later you can act like my old lady. Right now, I only want to taste you. Feels like I'm losing my head without you." He also knows what to say to sweep Taylor off her feet, "hell, no." He walked backward to his bike. "It's a house and nothing special. You're my woman. You'll make it a home." I mean the boy is just something else, "you are just that good, honey." She kissed him, moving to her feet, acting as if she could go another round. He sat with his jeans around his thighs, bare a** on the wood, and wondered if they had time for another go around. Maybe he'd die just the way he wanted to." I mean he also appreciates his girl's body, "Taylor bent over to tie the lace on her purple Converse sneakers. He tilted his head, checking her a** out. Hell, he was always checking her out and she always knew he was looking." I just loved him and all his naughtiness, "if it meand effing my wife, it's not a surprise. I was planning on it.' Slade laughed when she turned and pinched his nipple. "Kepp that up, and we won't make it to the bedroom."

*I couldn't seem to put this book down. I loved the fact that the author pretty much started of where the second book ended. I liked the way the author described each of Slade’s boys, with her description of them, I could easily picture them in my head. Reading about all of the action that takes place keeps me wanting more even though I should put the book down for a while.

I also liked how the author had Slade handle his situation with his ex-wife and kids.

Throughout the whole book, I could picture all of the characters in my mind perfectly.

I loved it! I can't get enough of Debra Kayn's biker books. This was another one of those intense and emotional stories.

This is Slade and Taylor's story. Slade and all his toughness can't keep Taylor away from him even when he is dealt one of the biggest blows he could expect. He sends her away not wanting to see her. But, her love for him is strong and she will do what she needs to in order to keep her man. The Los Li is making it's way through Pitman and the Bantorus MC needs the help from the Lagsturns. But, can they get them on board for the job? Can they be trusted? Meanwhile Slade is still dealing his crazy ex-wife and her new husband trying to get custody of his boys. Lots of action and excitement in this story. I highly suggest this book.

3 1/2. Ok MC read. Good characters--I really liked Taylor's character. She was sweet, yet incredibly strong at the same time. I also liked how se would get into Slade's face, and not let him get away with anything. It also had a nice amount of action, spicy sex scenes. I thought the flow was good, and easy to follow timeline. I had a little trouble feeling the romance side--it was a little flat for me. I think this is because the relationship was already solidified previously, so you don't get that build-up. I thought the subplot with Slade's boys was a nice touch. Ending felt kind of rushed, but there is a nice epilogue that explained some things. All in all, a decent read.

I'm so mad at myself for waiting so long to read this book. I kept putting it off because I hadn't read the previous one (but did read the one before THAT one) and thought I'd probably be lost. Plus I thought it kinda sounded like it be too much drama for me.
Welp, I was wrong. I loved it. I thought it had just enough drama, just enough angst without going overboard and had GREAT sexy scenes.
I LOVED Taylor and I thought that Slade was an excellent Alpha to her heroine.
Totally recommend this book to anyone that loves a good biker book that burns up the pages with hotness.

Loved it. I really like Deb's style of writing. This book is about Slade and his being a responsible parent to his kids. Even after his marriage fell apart, all he cared about was getting his kids back and keeping them safe. But he also really likes Taylor and he'd like her in his life, but his kids come first.
His way of life gets in the way and things snowball, but in the end, after you read the book, you'll find a HEA.

I felt sorry for Taylor. Being in love but kept at a distance by Slade, I don't think I could have done it. Meeting in secret, feeling deeply, but not too much to upset anyone. Taylor deserved so much more from Slade. He does realize it,maybe a little late but he tries to make amends. Claims her in front of the club, moved her in to help care for his kids. Bantorus and Lagsturn riding together against Los Li, poor Torque having a bad time of it,he better get his HEA soon!
