She thought she had her life planned to perfection. He thought they made perfect sense together. Would marrying Jacob be the craziest thing she’s ever done, or divorcing him?
This novel had a very good storyline with much sentiment. It is a bitter-sweet love story. It was written fairly well, it mostly captured the reader's interest but the main situation got a little repetitive , plus, the explicit sex scenes and profanity made it difficult for me to totally enjoy the book. The characters were realistic in a way the reader could "connect" with them. The background scenes were portrayed well.. I feel the Book Cover did not really reflect the main idea of the tale. A stretch of the imagination would have to be used to justify the Title. They are not, in any way, a strong reflexion on the tale.
As an objective critic, I am forced to review on merit of Literary style, content ability, grammar, and creativity- among other things. I strive to rate on merit and not on my personal views.
My review conclusions offers this book a Four Stars rating. *I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review, of which I have given.
This is a really enjoyable story. Carla and Jacob met when they were young and is Las Vegas. They partied got drunk and then got married. For Jacob it was love at first sight. For Carla it actually felt like a dream because when she woke up there was no Jacob and she was with her friends. Years later Carla needs to find him to get a divorce. Loved the twists and turns. Gripping read. This is their story!! This is a really good romantic story like no other I've read before.

This book was well written with well-defined strong characters I instantly connected with, especially the gorgeous billionaire Jacob Moreau.
I must admit I have read various takes on the plotline but this was well executed and a fresh take on the ‘oops I forgot I got married in Vegas’ kind of thing.
The reader is enticed into the story with flashbacks over the last decade of what happened then to what is happening now, so it is easy to keep up to speed with the past and present situations the characters found themselves in.
Carla was on a girl’s weekend in Vegas with her two best friends, hoping to have first time experiences as a rite of passage for the end of college years. However her friends wanting to experiment with soft drugs is not for her so they drop her off in a bar where she meets Jacob. The rest is all experienced through flashbacks and dreams sequences that Carla thinks they are. Just dreams of a hot and sexy man in a bar and the hot and sexy experiences she has with him back in her hotel room.
Fast forward to present day and Dr Carla Harris is planning her safe wedding to her safe fiancé, Oliver. The day she goes to get the marriage certificate is the day she finds out she is already married and has been for ten years. The registrar luckily gives her more information which enables Carla to see if she can track down this Jacob Moreau guy to rectify this and get a divorce without Oliver finding out or ever knowing she had been married before.
The story then evolves with Carla tracking down Jacob only to find out who and what exactly he now is and when they meet again – whoosh! The sexual tension and chemistry just flew out of my kindle. Jacob Moreau was scorching hot and everything a woman would want and should have!
Jacob (Jake) had never forgotten Carla and he knew she was the one and due to some advice he got from his father when he was younger, he knew he had to let her go to see if she came back to him. If she did then it was meant to be. This is where my frustrations with the pair grew. He wanted to leave everything to fate, whereas Carla wanted to do the right thing. The correct and proper expectation for all, which meant she had to go through with this divorce, get Jake out of her head, her dreams, her life and marry to faithful and reliable Oliver. As the observer it was so obvious what should be happening which just gave the need to shout out my frustrations at my kindle.
I couldn’t understand why Carla could not see what she should do as it was so plain and simple for everyone else. Her life with Oliver for the last 2 years just seemed placid and boring. Yet she opted to continue this rather than the spice and excitement that Jake gave her? Was she mad? Well for the most part of the book she was and this was the angst and frustration the reader was given. However it made the ending all the more satisfying and rewarding to have gone through that to gain the wonderful and astounding end with a few shockers along the way. A big curveball is thrown right at the point that the feeling all is lost has arrived. Marvellous!
Overall I really loved this book and if the ‘forgetting then remembering’ parts could have been a tad more believable and a fuller epilogue, this would have easily been a five stars plus read for me and only due to those issues I give this a 4.25 stars but with a definite recommend you read this. Loved it!
Almost Married by Roe Valentine is about psychiatrist Dr. Carla Harris and CEO Jacob Moreau, who met, partied and married in Las Vegas about ten years ago. Both were quite young and drunk at the time, but they had amazing chemistry and for Jake, it was love at first site. Carla thought the entire adventure was a wonderful lifelike dream, because when she woke up the following morning, Jake was gone and her friends that she traveled with were with her.
Now Carla is engaged and needs to find Jake in order to get a divorce or annulment. However, time has not changed the amazing pull they have to each other. Carla and Jake belong together.
To begin with, the cover is cute and the pink really stands out in a playful way. Secondly, in the beginning of the story, the author switches from past to present, which I found slightly distracting until I got used to it. Although this is a quick-read, the plot dragged along from time to time.
This is both a fun and emotional read. It is chock full of twists and turns in all the right places. So if you are looking for a solid romance that has good character development and a refreshing storyline, give this book a shout.
