I usually love ghost stories--of any kind, but this story just seemed...off.
I felt like the story didn't flow very nicely, one minute they were doing something, and the next minute they were doing something else, by they I mean both the kids and the ghosts.
One minute the ghosts were friendly and curious, the next they were mean and disruptive. I thought it would have been cool to team up against the school bully.
Even though the ghosts scared him off, I just felt like everything was still up in the air and nothing was resolved.
This title was arguably better than the first in the series. The characters' personalities are beginning to come out more and the action was much more exciting. There was the perfect amount of review from the first title to remind the reader how the series started. I highly recommend this title for kids in grades 2-3 who like books about ghosts, but not very scary stories.
Sorry, still disappointed by this series. Too much coincidence (let's face it, what are the odds that this group of kids would have had knowledge of basketball when it was brand new when they died). I am seeing a pattern - Ghosts destroy school and kids get blamed. Why not just tell the adults what's going on and take your chances on them believing them. I don't know...it just feels like this could be done a lot better.
I read this as part of Real Men Read to 3rd graders. This book just seemed to read 'flat'. The conversations of the characters seemed chopped and trite. The story seemed ordinary and didn't grip the kids. An iguana appears that just seems tacked in to the story. It was hard to read it in a way that built any since of suspense. I've been spoiled by 'Edgar Allen's Crime Scene Investigation Notebook.'!
