An X rated Harry Potter (esque) story!

Book 2 of the Brimstone Chorus series is a very enjoyable read. Magic is real and so are demons, witches, zombies and most things supernatural. However, this knowledge is being hidden from humanity by a mysterious secret organisation known as OOTIS, a sort of supernatural police force. The violence and horror depicted in this tale is graphic and quite shocking but, not gratuitously so. All the characters in the story are multi level and entertaining in one way or another, coupled with an element of dark humour. Amazingly everyone, including the odd demon, possesses elements of a likeable personality. This is a multi dimensional story that will appeal to all aficionados of the fantasy/horror genre.

I believe this is the 2nd book in the Brimstone Chorus series by Elizabeth, the first one of which I thoroughly enjoyed! It's always nice to meet up with old, familiar characters in book series, and one in particular for me was a real joy! I love the cheeky little demon in these stories, it was nice to hang out with his sarcastic, scary ass again for a bit, so to speak….so much so that I've been tempted to get a shirt with I 🖤 CHEKONOST on it! 😂

A story of supernatural and horrific awesomeness that is upped from the first book, with cryptid-trafficking, demons, tortured souls and an abundance of otherworldly creatures, dark magic, twists and turns. Expertly written, the prologue is captivating and dramatic and kicks off this fantastic journey brilliantly, immediately making you crave more! You are treated to a steady build throughout, that is action packed and leads you to a fast-paced and breath-taking, edge -of-your-seat conclusion.

The fight is on once again to claim the powerful dagger that is Kar’roc’s Maw, to keep it out of the wrong hands and in the right ones. To unleash its potential and to stop the evil from returning!

Present day, and Banning is still suffering horrific nightmares and the after effects of previous events, disappointing his mentor, Archibald. So, when the opportunity arises to once again prove himself, he takes it, whatever that entails.

Charlie is the current keeper of the dagger. It's been three months since the events that took his friend from him and changed his life, and he is now under surveillance by O.O.T.I.S. a rare, meticulous and supernatural organisation. Also under the watchful eye of O.O.T.I.S. is the dagger, Kar’roc’s Maw. Both are being studied to understand the bond between them. Charlie fears for his life, for the world, if the demon gets unleashed somehow. He has been assured that it can't escape though, just as long as it stays where it is and their bond doesn't get any stronger….
The dagger can't be destroyed, it's a demon artifact that can only be destroyed in their own realm, among all manner of hideous, evil beings.

When Charlie’s daughter and granddaughter are kidnapped, Nick believes it's the perfect opportunity for him to help rid himself of some of his guilt from before. But, could there be a mole at O.O.T.I.S.? Putting Charlie and his family's lives at risk, in an effort to get to the dagger and the demon within? The race is on for Charlie to find his family and rescue them from the true and very real nightmares found along the way. And the climax is a frenzied battle fought between species, worlds, fire, shadows, blood and Hell itself!

Who are the real monsters? Cryptids from other realms and other worlds, the demons within us all, or the ones who call themselves humans?

This series from Elizabeth J. Brown keeps getting more interesting and complex with every book!

I love Charlie and I confess that I might have fallen a bit for him! But all the characters of this book were really entartaining and multilayered in one way or another. They're written so well that even the hateful ones are difficult to hate fully.

I love the writing style, very easy to read, scattered with humour here and there, making me chuckle more than once. The story is so complex and so well designed that you have to read the books to appreciate it fully!

Again with this second installment of the Brimstone Chorus series, the plot and writing was so compelling that I couldn't wait to continue reading until the end. Loved all the action packed scenes which are seriously amazing and full of suspense!

Needless to say I'll wait impatiently for the third book in the series as there's so much more I need to know!

Thank you Elizabeth J. Brown for a copy and this is my honest review.

Wow! I loved the first two books in the Brimstone Chorus, but this was a step up! If not a few steps, I love the combination of Horror, Fantasy, and Drama in this series! Elizabeth Brown is putting an epic tail together bringing together characters you want to cheer for and then they do something terrible, Banning being the most obvious for me. Elizabeth makes you care for everyone demons, humans and creatures alike. Being a dog lover Lily is one of my favorite characters in this book, Rottweiler’s are so loyal and strong. Charlie and everything he has gone through is a great main character his strength is to be admired (yes I realize he’s a fictional character), but the author makes you feel for them as if they are real. Finally I love the tie in to the first in the series, The Foundling, if you want to get the full affect start from the beginning. Elizabeth Brown has the first in the series free on her site if you join her mailing list, you won’t regret it! I say check it out, 5 stars!

As an update December 2024, I listened to the new audiobook and it was great, I highly recommend it, the narrator was great and the production was spot on. I learned some new things from when I read the book last year. Pick this up either way you won't be disappointed.

Elizabeth you have outdone yourself again! This is the sequel to the first book The Laughing Policeman and it continued right where we left off...knee deep into demon business. Once again we have a great character base story with a wonderfully build demon atmosphere that just drags your mind into a world you never would image. This is a great horror read that will not leave you empty and you will want more.....I know I do!

I was given a free ARC and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

The Fractured Few is the 2nd book in the Brimstone Chorus Series.

We catch up with Charlie three months after the terrifying fight he had with a demon and nearly cost him his life. He is also still suffering night terrors due to this. Since then, though, he's had to work with an organisation that is very closely watching him since his contact with the Kar'roc's Maw. They have their own secrets to hide also.

When his family Meghan and Evie are taken, he realises they want something he has. Are supernatural forces playing a hand in the kidnapping? He has to find out at any cost, even if it may or may not cost him his life.

The book kept me turning them pages again and again, one more chapter then another, until I couldn't read anymore, this book was calling me when I weren't reading. The author had me on the edge of a tor, I nearly toppled over lots of times ..... Wow!!!. I'd gain my grounding within the story, then I'd be catapulted into a different direction even though I didn't want to go that way. Plenty of twists and turns, monsters, demons, bloody squeamish scenes, I loved it!! It played like a movie in my own head!!

Now that I'm finished, I'm so gutted that I'll have to wait until the next book in this series. It has been a cracking read with some lovable characters, and others I absolutely detested. I'm sitting here patiently tappity tap tap till the next book ......still tappity tapping, can you hurry up pretty, please!!!!

Demons, witches, and sigils . . . oh my!!

Initially, I was not aware that “The Fractured Few” was a continuation of “The Laughing Policeman”. It didn’t matter that I’d not read “The Laughing Policeman” yet; because this book can be read as a stand-alone (In my opinion).

Like a soap opera, there are several lives that are followed throughout the book; however, they are all interconnected. So, pay attention! One thing that surprised me was that I actually ended up feeling sympathy for the ‘bad guys’. Seriously, ALL the bad guys! There’s no way that you’re going to want to put this book down. So, before you start, make sure that you’ll be able to read and digest this for a good chunk of time.

If you haven’t read “The Laughing Policeman” yet, I’d suggest you do that first. Why? I thought you said it could be read as a ‘stand-alone’? Answer: Of course – but it’s fantastic as well – so get your READ on! Additionally, if you join Elizabeth Brown’s mailing list, you can get the first in the series, “The Foundling” . . . FREE!!

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review.

This is a sequel of The Laughing Policeman, so if you haven't read that one yet, I suggest you go pick up that first, even before reading this review because it will contain spoilers from the first book.

Like I said, this book continues the events described in The Laughing Policeman, moving on after Stephen's death, after being possesed by that demon and going on a killing spree.

I am once more in awe at Liz's immense imagination and creativity when she creates a world even more intense and complex than the one describes in the first book. She not only introduces some whole new types of demons, incubus and succubus (I've heard of them before but never really seen them used in stories) but she creates some magical/demonical creature that will freeze your blood and bones.

The story doesnt let go the rapid pace at all and will keep you enthralled and engrossed into this world of demons and humans and secret organisations meant to protect the planet from evil.

I absolutely loved the whole intensity of it and to Liz, I only got one more thing to say. No cake for you if you dont respect the tag. 😇😁

I was lucky to get an ARC of this baby and jumped in as soon as I could.
3 months after battling with a demon and almost dying, Charlie is being kept prisoner by a secret organisation, the magical dagger, Kar'roc's Maw, now attached to him. Should demonic forces get their hands on the dagger, the end of mankind is a certainty. Then his family is kidnapped and it is up to Charlie to not only save them but ensure no one and nothing gets their hands on the dagger.
This book has everything. Demons. Nasty, vicious, demonic dog-like creatures. Magic. Nasty, evil villians. Elizabeth has done a fabulous job of creating three-dimensional characters, great detail to scenes, humour, to make a compelling read. Elizabeth is one of those authors whose writing ability you know makes her destined to become very successful. This book is released on July 14th. I very much recommend preordering this one! And once again, that cover is amazing!

This is the second full novel in Elizabeth J Brown’s Brimstone Chorus series (third story in the series, if you include ‘The Foundling’ which is free by subscribing to Elizabeth’s newsletter), although it works well as a standalone novel in its own right.
Personally though, I wouldn’t skip the first novel ‘The Laughing Policeman’ (TLP) as that was awesome.

With Elizabeth you don’t just get a book with an awesome cover; you get a story that drags you in and urges you to keep going, chapter after chapter of dark fantasy and supernatural horror full of demons, witches, cryptids and much more besides. The writing is phenomenal.

The Fractured Few continues Charlie Haynes’ story since his horrific introduction to a demon within the pages of TLP and it doesn’t disappoint one bit—new characters, creatures, cryptids and, of course, demons. But the best character in my mind was Lily; cute, scary, and horrific all in one lovely furry bundle.

If you haven’t read one of Elizabeth’s books, I advise you to grab one forthwith.

If there are really supernatural creatures, people with powers and magic; then I would hope there is an entity that could help monitor such things. While Charlie knew there were demons; it seemed very impossible for him to get on board with the idea of a whole other world beyond the veil. This author writes such a good story that I felt as though I were in the pages of the book. Not only did we get to meet interesting people, creatures and magic but we get to decide how well we like the characters. My favorite character was Lily, the hybrid hellhound. She’s the kind of creature I want for protection! I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

The Fractured Few is the second book in the Book Brimstone Chorus series by Elizabeth J Brown. This book was a real page turner and I couldn't put it down until the end. I love the way Elizabeth combines drama, horror, and fantasy. You don't have to read The Laughing Policeman first but I would suggest you do. There is a lot going on in this book so pay close attention or you could miss something. I love the characters and how developed they are. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

After reading the laughing policeman I didn’t think it could be trumped, yeah I was wrong. Ok the fractured few isn’t as gory but that’s no way a bad thing because it follows on from the first book beautifully, opening a very well written and gripping follow on in which Charlie finds himself playing host to chekonost whilst battling to understand the confusing world he’s found himself in, demons, monsters, ootis, and things are only going to get worse, much worse!

If you’ve not discovered Elizabeth J Brown yet you must! Her writing is a real treat

4.5 stars! What a fantastic book. I loved The Laughing Policeman and was excited to read the 2nd book in the series, and it didn’t disappoint! The author has created such an intricate world full of fun creatures, and you can’t help but fall in love with some of them.

My only criticism (kind of spoiler-y):

I wish the demon that possessed Charlie came around sooner than he did. I LOVED the banter in the first book and would have loved a lot more of it in this one.

But otherwise this was such a great book. I’d 100% recommend to anyone who loves snarky demons!

The Fractured Few provides an intricate look into the Brimstone Chorus series. Charlie is forced to deal with the reality that magic, monsters, and demons are real and he now has to work with an agency that specializes in the supernatural. That is something Charlie can deal with until he becomes a target and his family is threatened.
This book is fast paced and the audiobook provides an extra dimension with sound effects that play along with the story. It truly is a creepy thrill ride as you try to keep the demons out of your head and not give in to their temptation.

Following on from The Laughing Policeman we join Charlie as he delves deeper into the world of demons and magic. Some new characters are pulled into the mix and are sufficiently developed to make an impact for their roles in the story. Fantastic engaging writing again and look forward to the next installment! I would suggest this is read in big chunks to get the best from the story as there is a lot to digest. Great book.

Thank you to the author for providing a review copy.
The Fractured Few starts off following the events of The Laughing Policeman. Charlie Haynes has just found out that his world is a whole lot bigger than he thought it was. As much as I loved Policeman (I believe I rated it 4.5), I loved this book even more. Secondary characters are more fleshed out, as is the world of O.O.T.I.S. The thrilling conclusion promises more to come. I eagerly await the next volume in the series.

The second book by this awesome author was most definitely worth the wait. Picking up where the Laughing Policeman finished, you’re taken right back into the surreal world of demons and magic. Incredibly well-written and still keeping up the pace, I couldn’t put the book down. If you haven’t read The Foundling yet, then you need to as Elizabeth has expertly begun linking the parallel stories together in this book. I cannot wait to find out what happens now the Brimstone Chorus has begun

Just finished up the second book in the Brimstone Chorus series, and it just keeps getting better and better! The Fractured Few picks up where the Laughing Policeman left us, and kept me sucked into the story until the end! Elizabeth does an amazing job with the story line, and keeping the characters interesting with a perfect blend of horror.

I wanted to thank Elizabeth Brown for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of her story. This is my honest review.

Having read, and loved, The Laughing Policeman, I had high hopes going into this book. Elizabeth J Brown did not disappoint me. This book built upon the lore established in the first book, while also furthering the main character's (Charlie) story. I'd describe this book as 'if Men in Black was horror'.

This book is definitely a worthy 2nd episode to this wonderful new paranormal series (BRIMSTONE CHORUS). Imaginative, original, a thrilling plot, good vs. evil, unique monsters, and wonderfully-drawn characters, this book was hard to put down. Elizabeth J. Brown has created an intriguing new universe of magic and apocalyptic threat. I anxiously await the next installment.

I want to thank the author for providing me with an audiobook of this in exchange for an honest review!

As I said with the first book in the series, the performance and production of the audiobook is excellent. It's worth listening to just for that.

This is the second book in the Brimstone Chorus series, so make sure you read The Laughing Policeman first!

I found this book leaned more into the dark fantasy than horror and had less humor in it than the first book.

It didn't take as long for me to get into this one because I was already familiar with the characters from the previous book, so that was a plus!

This was a good follow-up that was exciting, adventurous, had a lot of action, and some shocking moments.

I'm sending this one off with a 4⭐️ rating. I'm still hooked on the story and want to see where it goes with the third book!

It was great to spend time with Charlie again! I enjoyed meeting new characters as Charlie worked with OOTIS, encounters mythical and magical creatures, and tries to find his family. Another great Brimstone Chorus book. Nigel Peever knocked it out of the park again on his narration. Definitely looking forward to more!
