It finally begins

As always, the series never fails to satisfy. The amount covered in each volume feels like a decent meal. You don't walk away after reading feeling like it was painfully short. There was a lot of good paced developments that the author took their time to develop. I don't feel like they ever take shortcuts. I also feel like they did a very good job of jolting the reader with the sudden explosion of fate. The anxiety produced by the sudden frenzy makes you feel very in tune with our main character, Tia. I am very curious to see where the story will go from here. There's a lot more empathy and compassion in the people surrounding her that I feel like her place should come out differently. I do feel bad for both the prince and Tia for merely being pawns to this deity. It's kind of funny how fickle and seemingly malicious the deity feels like. The nature of the temple itself feels malignant.

I'm starting to wonder if there is a way for this story to develop without betraying its own rules and still have a satisfying good ending. It is interesting, I have great hopes for the future.

Three-fourths of the way through a series isn't the best time to start introducing minor characters. At this point, there's little or no chance I'll remember them.

Allen's out. That's fine. As often happens with these serialized stories, establishing situations before revealing them was a little lacking. However, it's also possible that my reading this piecemeal over a few years has made me forget a few things, so I'll let it stand and not complain too much. Either way, it felt somewhat like the author decided to start wrapping things up, and it was convenient to send him off at this juncture.

Jie-un's arrived at last, a year earlier than she did last time. We're seeing the gears of fate motif more often, and Aristia worries that Jie-un's accelerated arrival means she's doomed to repeat her previous loop's events after all. It would be nice to see some of Ruveliss' point of view here--it's of more moment to Aristia's fate than Allen's ever was.

Taking away Carsein's eyesight for a chapter or two, then his eyes being healed offstage, felt rather pointless. I guarantee you that the priest is a flirtatious male, and that's why Carsein acted so grossed out when Aristia asked him what the priest was like. Sigh.

I can see how it's hard to balance a story between everything in the story centering around the heroine and her trials--whether to love, hate, befriend, or thwart her--and trying to build a setting that has its own concerns and conflicts that are still interesting to the reader. The court intrigue doesn't feel quite as naïve as I've seen in other isekai and loop stories (so many of them feel like high school drama rather than how things play out in the orbit of kings), but that doesn't mean it's particularly comprehensible or interesting.

Anyhow, this story is losing some of its oomph the closer we get to the endgame, but my interest in Aristia's fate still makes me willing to see it out to the end, despite the boring parts. I know who Aristia ends up with, and hope that that character ends up opening up to her in a way that makes me believe he's in love.

Tia seems to be getting along with everyone more than ever, especially finding great comfort in her better relationship with her father. At the same time, she finally had to draw the line with Allen which may have resulted in him leaving the kingdom for good after his own plotting put her life at risk and nearly blinded Carsein. The wheels of fate continue to turn and now it appears she is accepting that perhaps she could not change fate as much as she wished just as she was beginning to have hope that the changes were not only affecting her and perhaps the prince had changed as well. Despite her fears, it does seem as though the both the Emperor and the crown prince both still favor her, though she is blind to this with the Jiuen's arrival. If anything, the prince seems to have difficulty convincing Tia that he is sincere and does genuinely care for her this time around, though whose to say what Jiuen's arrival may or may not force in the way of changing things given the prophecy and politics at play.

The start of this volume was a little shaky for me. I honestly could not remember anything that happened in the last volume besides Ruve and Tia getting a bit closer at the ball.

Lots goes down here. The Emperor is sick and yet still plotting to get Ruve and Tia together. In fact he shows her a lot of favor. Tia finally gets acknowledged as heir to the Marquis. Allen and Tia’s relationship comes to a head and Allen’s true calculating nature is revealed. This was very shocking to me. Our sweet Allen is less sweet than the previous six volumes would lead us to believe. Carsein puts his life on the line for Aristia. And finally the alleged girl of prophecy Jieun finally enters stage right. But all of Aristia’s efforts seem to have changed fate enough that just maybe she can still help herself out of this mess.

Oh and that head priest. What is up with them???

Looking forward to volume 8! This series always delivers.

The best book of the series so far. So much happens....Allendis confesses his feelings, gets rejected and finally comes back to the light and does the right thing out of repentance...only to lose being by Tia's side forever T-T . I knew this ship had been dead for a few volumes but I was happy that Allendis could redeem himself in the end and be the character I believed he could be. Seeing the love stories of the adults was great. Casein almost losing his eyesight and having to give up the sword was so gut wrenching. And Jieun finally makes her appearance (I think her being summond was because of the noblest faction but that's just my theory).

I love this series and was so glad Jieun came back because I was feeling a little angry that Tia was falling in love with the Prince again. Can't wait for number 8.

Ruve finishes the business with all of the visiting princesses and dismisses all of them. On the last day of the festival, Tia and Allen go to watch a play that encourages Allen to confess his true feelings for Tia. She doesn’t reciprocate as she only sees Allendis as her longest and truest friend. This causes a major rift between the two of them. Meanwhile, the Emperor’s health is deteriorating, so Ruve suggests a stay at the summer palace, which is perpetually cooler than the main imperial palace. While there, the gears of fate speed up and Jieun arrives a year early, leaving Tia caught off guard.

So much happens in this volume, and we learn so many important details about several important houses, Tia’s father and mother, more interesting tidbits of history, and some consequential moments between main characters! Everything is coming to a boiling point and the tension is exciting! There are still some loose ends to figure out, but this beautiful series ramping up towards an interesting conclusion.
